the truth is that it doesn't really matter if tobey's in good shape or not. he's not the one doing stunts in the spidey suit (if he ever does anymore, it's VERY rarely), and he doesn't need to go shirtless or anything. his main job is acting as peter parker, and doing voiceover's and stuff.

Reynolds actually kept his muscle and then added some for his next movie. Thomas Jane, and Christian Bale have both said that they hate lifting weights, and they pretty much let themselves go after filiming is done. Im betting Tobey got that fat from beer, if thats allowed on whatever vegitarian diet he follows.

he was bit, but i wasn't in awe with his physique, it may come down to either the fact that i've seen him bigger before or that there was no direction to show off his physique properly in the films.

he looked the business, just not totally completely ripped.

He was looking pretty chunky before he got in shape for Batman. He had gained a bunch of weight back after The Machinist.

Doing this messed him up majorly. He got very sick as a result.

Spider-man never was a big bulky guy, even when Peter Parker was older, he was never portrayed as being "swole", but moreso ripped. I think Maguire can pull that off, as well as Topher for Venom.

Bale looked good for Batman, much better than the other Batmen of the movies. I always thought of Batman as being a very imposing figure, whereas I thought of spider-man as more of a goofy teen.

I totally forgot about Ryan Reynolds. He was in insanely good shape for Blade 3. And getting into that shape when you're a tall guy is hard to do since you need to eat more than a shorter one. But I have to give props to Bale from going how he looked in the Machinist to how he looked inBatman Begins. Reynolds was the best overall but Bale made the biggest transformation.

actually thinking about it, tobey looks better than reynolds, but perhaps it's because he's tensing in tha scene, his definition is crazy...

Tobey has had about a year and a half to tone him self up so he better be RIPPED!

he does look like he did it the wrong way by just piling on the pounds, although he may have been bigger, he didn't look like he was in a fit state which is what i would consider for bruce wayne a living weapon...

he just looked like a bruce wayne in decent shape. saying this i give him props for being the biggest batman to date...

the funny thing is bale's physique for the machinist is what someone like bagley's version of peter parker would look like in the real world, really skinny strong and articulate.

I'm pretty sure that in that scene tobey was assisted with cg to make him look more ripped than he really was. Not positive, though.

saying that there are inconsistencies...someone with that kinda physique would have a much more defined back then what parker has there...

unless of course for the scene, there is actuallly no mirro and it's a double standing closer to the cam and maguire is standing where a fake mirror is...

this was not cgi, he did get this big for the movie. watch the second disk of the first spidey film, it shows you how big he was before he started the movie, and that he got even bigger for the movie. hence the picture.

in kung fu hustle, somehow they computerized a muscular body for a likely 10 yearold kid. so I'm thinking there are ways to do it at least and maybe tobe was enhanced, but I can't say for sure.

all they did was stick the 10 year old's head on another body and you could tell it was fake...

if you rewatch the scene, there isn't a glimmer of cgi used, especially considering how dodgy cgi scenes were back then, you could spot them a mile off...

The skinny Peter was CGI, however the buff shots were really him.
