Speaking of which, what do you guys think is the greatest gimmick change in WWE history? Glenn Jacobs, Dwayne Johnson, Steve Austin and Paul Levesque would have to be in the top five.

Speaking of Glenn Jacobs, how many times will he unmask and then re-mask in 2017? I say 50.

Husky Harris to Bray Wyatt.

Bradshaw of the APA to JBL, one of the most effectively despicable heels of the last 20 years of so. Seriously, he was amazing at getting the crowd to hate him.

Emma's like a top draft pick that has all the right tools--looks, body, ability--but it never comes together in an effective way to make her a genuine talent. They keep repackaging her in various ways to make it work, and this is another one.

I would argue that she never really got the chance to get her old gimmick over because she got injured at the exact wrong time, and she wasn't booked all that well beforehand.

This whole "Emmalina" thing feels really unnecessary and counterproductive (unless there's some kind of swerve coming).

Yup, loved the white hat, the horns on the limo, all of it

I'd put two more names in the ring though both may be a tad controversial- Surfer dude Sting to The Crow Sting.

And late 2000s Matt Hardy to Broken Matt Hardy. Just in terms of impact on the industry at large. Both aren't WWE though. So, sorry about that.

I stopped following after "Big Money Matt" so how did "Broken" Matt Hardy come about

In kayfabe, after he is left beaten in the hospital he basically taps into a spirit who has been around for centuries and becomes Broken Matt Hardy. And the longer the spirit inhabits him, the more powerful he becomes.

There are rumors that the WWE is interested in BJ Whitmer.

BJ Whitmer......How many former ROH wrestlers from 2005-2007 does the WWE have working for them now? And why isn't there any reunion photo with any of those talents online somewhere?

From that Era of ROH:

- Daniel Bryan
- AJ Styles
- Samoa Joe
- Cesaro
- Kevin Owens
- Sami Zayn
- Adam Pearce
- Sara Amato
- Jimmy Jacobs
- Seth Rollins
- Jamie Noble
- Corey Graves
- Nigel McGuiness
- Roderick Strong
- Austin Aires
- Hideo Itami

Plus the possibility of Steve Corino, Chris Hero and BJ Whitmer.

WWE: We do what ROH did years ago, only much worse!

We get it! You hate WWE! At least HR said something positive about the WWE recently. You probably just want it to die.

Anyway, question for all of the others here...

Does anyone miss Layla?

I don't want it to die, I want WWE to be a good wrestling promotion again.

A promotion where piledrivers aren't banned (unless you're Undertaker)

A promotion where blood isn't banned (unless you're Lesnar)

A promotion where high angle suplexes aren't banned (unless you're Lesnar)

A promotion where the belts don't look like six year olds on acid designed them (the new UK belt is sexy, though)

A promotion where they actually care about women's wrestling rather than just expending a massive amount of energy telling us they do

A promotion where there aren't freaking 4-5 people on commentary every night talking about god knows what

A promotion where they don't arbitrarily segregate the roster

A promotion where being a World Champion is a rare accomplishment that is only made by people who are a) actually good wrestlers and b) actually over with the crowd

A promotion where they actually have heels

A promotion where a guy in his late 40s/early 50s doesn't show up 2-6 times a year and make all the regular talent look like hacks

WWE is guilty of every sin that AAA/TNA/ROH/LU/NJPW/CMLL commit, but nobody takes them to task for it.

And what's worse is that when WWE finally makes an incremental change to an awful policy they never should have had in the first place, everybody acts like they're being so revolutionary and progressive.

WWE spent the better part of a decade making the guys who represent the style of wrestling that ROH puts on jump through every hoop there is to get the smallest opportunities, and now they just sign a dozen ROH/NJPW guys a year and nobody points out the hypocrisy.

Guys like CM Punk and Bryan Danielson had to get so popular their fans were literally hijacking every show before WWE gave them a chance, and now they can scoop up guys like Steen and nobody blinks.

being a hypocrite isn't illegal

and a change in how things work "back there", with Triple H taking a leadership role, has lead to a change in policy towards what talent gets bought in

Also, the WWE gets praise when it deserves it. They got praise from me when they were able to mend fences with the Ultimate Warrior before he died. Also, the Connor the Crusher tribute when he got the first Warrior Award was very heartwarming and sweet and I bet even the most ardent WWE hater can't bash the WWE for that. They have good relations with Bruno Sammartino and Madusa now. I also like Tribute for the Troops, because it's for the US Armed Forces, something I have never seen TNA do. Anything anyone does for the troops is always a plus for me.

But the WWE has it's issues as well. I wonder why the WWE won't put Neville, Sin Cara and Kalisto on 205 Live. I question the booking of 205 Live. I am also tired of playing hot potato with the Raw Women's Championship, which is why I pick Sasha to win tomorrow but I would not be surprised if Charlotte won. I don't understand the appeal of James Ellsworth or why American Alpha hasn't been pushed to the moon.

The WWE isn't perfect, but nothing is. No pro wrestling company is perfect. Hell no entertainment company or sports league is perfect either. I am a big UFC fan, but the UFC has their issues as well. Same for the NFL.

Hell, I am one of those who have long criticized Marvel Studios for lack of diversity with their films and directors (which they have fixed), lack of diversity in the Avengers lineup (which they have also fixed), one note, one dimensional villains (which they have not really fixed, although I am looking forward for more Mordo in the future) and the human characters in Thor and I am one who likes the movies and what Marvel Studios does overall.

and honestly, Im fine with piledrivers being banned

its not a needed or necessary move and much like the NFL with CTE, you may not see an immediate impact, but there is an impact

Even still, they take guys and water them down.

We're seeing a lesser version of Kevin Steen right now because of WWE's nonsense. Steen used to show up, call Jim Cornette all manner of swear words, package piledriver everybody, then proceed to have all manner of amazing matches.

And now he's Chris Jericho's sidekick.

he's still one of the WWEs main guys right now when a year ago, I don't think anyone would have predicted that

and there was a recent dustup at a house show involving him and the mother of a fan, he's currently using it in his "I Wrestle And Make People Cry" campaign

things change on the big stage

is what it is, and when you're the WWE, especially now when you have big sponsors like Kay Jewelers, you can't run your company like NKXPW or some other random spot monkey dirt fed (and those promotions have their places), there is one nearby me that has a show next month Im going to
