Apocalypse X-Men: Apocalypse Box Office Prediction Thread - Part 3

I only read X-Men comics (favorably re-reading Grant Morrison and Claremont...). Most superhero team books stand for everything I despise to be honest!

...what I tried to say was that X-Men movies in the past seem to have attracted not only the common mainstream superhero movie audience. Its critical acclaim and socio-political commentary maybe diversified the audience and brought in a milieu that wouldn't normally go and see a superhero movies. This particular group is now alienated from the franchise/brand because the brand identity changed from "critical acclaim" to "empty CGI ********".

To say that Singer cannot direct visually outstanding action scenes is ridiculous: 1. Nightcrawler at the White House, 2. Quicksilver's scene in Days of Future Past, 3. Wolverine vs. Lady Deathstrike, 4. Pryo vs. Police, 5. Sentinels vs. X-Men in the future...etc. The difference to common superhero movies is that Singer (before X-Men: Apocalypse!) would never give us action just for action's sake.

I agree with 4/5 however I do not understand why people are saying "Yeah Singer doesn't know how to direct action." He's directed a lot of good ones

I'm sorry to say this but most of you guys on this thread are looking really pathetic overreacting over box office predictions like its the end of the world.

I only see marvelrobbins and like one or two other posters overreacting. So the "most of you" stuff is pure ********.

There's not a single thing I'd refute about Legion's post from the last thread.

like the Apocalypse? :cwink:

I honestly don't think they will continue to have every movie with "destruction porn" this was that special moment where they did it. I don't want them to go back totally grounded of the OT it's really what I disliked about the franchise back then I only enjoyed the movies because my favorite superhero was apart of the movies so I kept watching. I just don't want them to scale back on superpowers trying to make it more grounded and I certainly don't want to revert back to leather. I looooove that they actually gave them costumes and made the comic costumes reverted to a movie version. Honestly if the characters are done justice and I mean all the characters involved they really need to stop bringing in characters just to bring them in then discard them after one movie.

Is not the end of the world, Apocalypse was defeated :drl:

But Fox might give up on X-Men main series for while.

After X3 underperform it took 5 years for they to return to the main series.

X3 - 2006 -> First Class 2011.

If XMA do bad, the next x-men movie will be in 2021. Which is bad cause I loved the new Jean, Scott and Ororo.

It's only a few overreacting mainly marvelrobbins is having what seems like a meltdown

It seems to be the end of era Singer! Guess I am freaking out because all future X-Men movies could turn out to be like the horrible "Deadpool" movie:

I am still shocked how disappointing "X-Men Apocalypse" turned out to be...

I don't think this is the case at all and I don't want to wait 5 yrs just to see my 3 fav superheroes back onscreen again this would be a mistake.

they will probally reboot so it's possable they come out in 2019 after deadpool sequel.

if your fan of X_men films the underperforming isn't good news at all.

It likely wasn't the reception of X3 that made them move away from them, they likely always had it planned to step away and do spin offs even before the release of X3, the FC idea was in thought process in 2009 and they even attempted to set it up with origins

What do you mean like Deadpool, are you meaning how accurate to his comic self they made him, because that's indeed what they need to do with the XFranchise. They can keep the serious undertones but they need to nail the characterizations of these popular characters.

they probally will be even though i like apocalypse more than you.A singer X-men films i will always like better than MCu or deadpool or snyderverse.

no problemo, BeholdMe

Lest we forget how their Origins spinoff for the characters of FC ended up being an X-Men Prequel.

So, how altered will New Mutants be?

New mutants and gambit could be axed if they go reboot route. It wouldn't be first time that happened.remember magneto film.I am sure majority here wouldn't care much if gambit is axed.

right now besides wolverine which is filming only deadpool sequel is certain.

it was Bryan singer who decided to make FC about xavier and Eric in the 60s and ignore what was set up with origins because he felt their story needed to be told first, but when it comes to new mutants already having a script probably not much alteration at all.

I was talking about how they were planning on doing other character spinoffs detailing their origins and how that idea eventually turned to First Class after how Wolverine Origins was received.

But there are no clear defined characterizations of these characters in the comic books! Why do you expect this from the movies? I really do not understand this argument. Characters change yearly/monthly depending on multiple different authors and their writings. Why do fanboys do not accept that there is no such thing as character accuracy! Magneto for example shifts his personality constantly throughout the years: from revolutionary freedom fighter to genocidal maniac to loyal X-Men to youthful clone and back to genocidal maniac etc. etc. He kills Jean Grey for Christ's sake just to be Cyclops loyal right hand man a view years later. Who is this comic book Magneto supposed to be?

I am still confused why no X-Men fanboy/fangirl was offended what a horrible caricature Colossus was in these Deadpool movies. Comic-accuracy? This was clearly not my Colossus...

Origins Magneto
Origins Gambit
Origins Deadpool

I remember that.

I was offened by colossus.he was simpleton whose purchase was to be punching bag and straight man who came off as a joke.NTW did more against the villains than Colossus.

Colorful costumes don't make films.if they did BVS would be greatest batman
film ever.and it clearly isn't.

The tone, serionas, and allegary is what i primally mean when i say cross between deadpool and Avengers.

People moaned about cyclops.Singer retified the problem greatly and they still moan.same with jean.

Deadpool is on my list of good X_men related films granted at bottom of list but what they did there works for deadpool solo not for X-men.

I get that. People have some built in standards for how characters should be portrayed based of previous knowledge. But you also can't distance yourself too far from what makes the characters and stories great. I mean why even do a comicbook movie if you don't trust in the source.

There has to be a balance.
