Apocalypse X-Men: Apocalypse Box Office Prediction Thread - Part 6

True. I really hope we don't see budget cuts but it might be inevitable. :csad:

Films like Independence day 2, Alice 2, Warcraft, and The Jungle Book all cost less than Xmen.A, yet they looked better, were all epic and very heavy on the cgi.

The next film can still look good. The end of the world stuff is not necessary every time for every Xmen film.

The X-Men movies have always struggled with effects for some reason.

Yes I don't need end of the world stuff. And it's a good point, whoever is in charge of the budget needs to get more out of it.

besides X-Men Apocalypse and Wolverine 1, I don't see any struggle with effects.

Singer just likes some retro filmmaking stuff like special effect make-up, wireworks and stuff etc. He seems to prefer some 'realness' to the movie experience he creates (minus "X-Men: Apocalypse"). And honestly, I am very happy about these decisions. Nothing is worse than cgi madness like "The Hobbit" I-III etc.

I dunno about that, i havent seen any retro film making in DOFP or Apocalypse Beyond sticking to make up for the actors

I actually think they've done pretty well. DOFP and X3 are done really well. Apocalypse on the other hand...... you can tell they struggled and probably run out of time.

Well no it doesn't always work that way, since DOFP fans been discussing things that fox must be thinking or doing and have been completely wrong, one was that they were using DOFP to see which cast the audience wanted for apocalypse when really they already knew what cast they were using, people were just insisting that after FC they were testing the waters with DOFP when chances are no thats likely not what was going on there.

same with everything about deadpool, thats gonna go on for a while where people speculate how fox will milk the deadpool machine like saying how they will put wolverine and deadpool together in wolverine 3 because people will wanna see that and fox want money! well still waiting on that announcement but giving how fox have been with this franchise since 2009 i don't think there is any point comparing them to marvel, WB or even sony because i have seen no sign of the copycat attitude of WB, the desperation of SONY or whatever marvel does.

I don't think you are following.

Fox is no doubt discussing the films success and how this could potentially hurt the next installment. Or how to make sure a drop doesn't happen again. Don't they have more to lose then we do? They are not gonna ignore those numbers. If they make another film for 180m+ based strictly on the numbers Apocalypse brought back without having some sort of new fail-safe that would be very odd. Making a smaller film should be definitely on the table if they want this team to continue.

The only movie you mentioned that looked better was Jungle Book, the rest had mediocre to laughably bad CGI.

Origins and First Class easily have the worst VFX

That's why we need new blood in the franchise.

Some things can only be achieved properly with CGI.

X3 had some horrendous wire work.

As if the visual effects team are responsible for wire work? Since when? Thats like blaming the visual effects department if the fight scenes aren't choreographed well.

Well said.

Wirework "flying" needs to go from this franchise. I mean come on.

Well, it says a lot when this film did Ant-Man numbers at BO. Fox and the producers really need to re-evaluate what they're doing with this property. Apocalypse was a terrible movie and a massive step backwards.

You know, most of the arguments I have seen to why this movie was terrible or a major step backward have been easily disputable. Almost every criticism I have seen of the storytelling/writing has been either a misread of it(like Apocalypse turning people into dust which never happened) or just forgetting things that were established in previous films. Due to the fact that the series has ran for so long. Which this link below explains in detail.

Fox's real mistake was that they took too long to make a follow up to The Last Stand and people forgot that story arc by the time they got to Apocalypse. Hell, some people even forgot what was set-up in the previous movie like Screen Junkies(saying Mystique was a villain in DOFP).

I don't care about X-Men: Apocalypse anymore. If FOX really does the DEMON BEAR SAGA in New Mutants. All my disappointment for X:A will be totally forgotten.

I'm an easy fanboy to please! ;)
