It'll be interesting to see if a Hugh-Jackman-less X-film will do as well as DOFP, the only x-film to not feature him prominently was the lowest grosser since the original. I assume that's part of why Fox will lean even more on Jennifer Lawrence's role this time around.

Thing is that its not just the just because the actor hugh jackman isn't there its the fact that character wolverine isn't there because everyone forgets wolverine made jackman famous and not the otherway round so leaning on jennifer lawerence wouldn't really be the same thing

With this film we have quicksilver and nightcrawler who went down really well in previous movies aswell as other fan favourites and a well known villian like Apocalypse so if thats not enough to make up for the lack of wolverine then this franchise really is in trouble

GS i think you're severely underestimating the Jackman wolverine drawl...

and i don't think Jlaws star power actually gets people to see the X-men films...

do you have anything to disprove it?

everyone but comic book movie message boards have moved on from FC years ago... but only places like here is it brought up constantly... and why? because it's a bit more relevant on a comic book movie news website...

obviously, compared to the rest of the cast.. they, plus Hoult are the stars of the new franchise.. but I also don't think there drawl (in these films) is equal or more than the original cast... and hugh jackman's wolverine.

Jlaw has alot of star power when she's the focus of a film.. but I don't feel like that same sorta emphasis is on her with these films as they are The Hunger Games ... because she's actually the focal of that franchise. The X-men films are a large ensemble piece.

With X-Men, the characters themselves will always be a bigger draw imo. Casting the roles right matters alot obviously, but I don't think the main reason people show up is because of the talents name.

.... im sorry but that's kinda fanboy thought... I don't think they have such massive fanbases that they've got a worthy amount of people who will go see a film just because they're in it...

odds are the people going to this film are going to see it for one reason only... they're X-men fans... not GoT fans.. not Star Wars fans... not hunger games fans....

X-men fans.. and they've seen some of the previous films.. and want to see this one.

Look at the release of Inside Out, which made near 100 million on it's first week alongside Jurassic World also taking 100 million in it's second. It's not impossible that two films could open at 100 million each.

agrees. well that and i think the OT grew a bigger fanbase than the FC franchises cast has been (in regards to these films)

Probably, it's been around for alot longer to grab fans and the characters themselves were A list X-Men. Been awhile since people like Storm, Jean and Cyclops have had big roles. People really love those characters. Even when they don't do much on screen.

Exactly, quicksilver was the stand out character in DOFP and he is back and nightcrawler was one of the stand outs for X2 (apart from wolverine) and he is back too

look man, you're entitled to your belief, i'm entitled to mine based off what i've seen on here and in the "real world" over the like 15 years ive been on the hype... some people only see what they want to see, and see what they see on here.. sometimes this is their whole world (and mods will tell you that as well). And in my experience, from what i've seen... FC is only still talked about on here... and really didn't make the impact X2 did...

you are completely free to disagree with it.. that's your prerogative. But i'm not going to continue to discuss it with you when you're being ridiculously over-defensive about it for some reason.. and clearly just looking to argue for the sake of arguing... You're not trying to understand squat, you're not trying to listen to an opinion.. all you're wanting to do is tell me I'm wrong... so I'm not dealing with it. it's pointless dribble.

and btw.. my comments arn't a slight against FC.. i enjoyed the film, but I do think it gets far more praise on the places like here on the hype than it gets elsewhere

While sophie won't bring in a large audience alone i think having her in the role will create some interest since people will recognise her as the girl from GOT or Sansa Stark
