So they will end the FC characters arc not by taking down one of the series greatest villains but by not and him returning... Bit anti climatic right?

Reminds me when people were planning how the sentinels wouldn't be destroyed and could keep returning regular like the comics

I was just thinking about this sequence. I would love to see Fassbender kill Apocalypse like that, but a strange part of me would love McKellan to say something like "I should have done this to you years ago" and then tear him in half.

It would be interesting still and then perhaps have Xavier, Magneto and Mystique all come together to fight Apoc, which is what was hinted at in DOFP, but then have Mystique die and that be the end of their trillogy. Xavier finally become the teacher, Magneto become the hardened leader and Mystique be the dead one.

If that scene is a part of the film, then it NEEDS to go to Fassbender's Magneto. Without question.

Thinking back to the original trilogy and fc, Fassbender wins hands down for the cool collected killer part of the character, but I think Ian wins in the dramatic scenes that he uses his powers. Even in DOFP, when Future Magneto stepped up to throw the jet you just KNEW it was gonna be awesome. I don't think Fassbender has that yet for me anyway, when he lifted the stadium it just felt like, oh here is magneto raising a stadium.

Preferences aside, that Magneto vs Apocalypse moment would still need to go to Fassbender. This is a FC movie. Only way McKellen deserves that moment is if it were an OC film. But its not.

GuestStar, I'd like to hear your ideas on how they could incorporate some AOA sequences without resorting to time travel. I can't see how else they would do it, but I don't want a retread of time travel. A psychic vision, maybe?

I think people are taking Kinberg's quote about elements of AoA being in this way too literal.

Saying there will be influences from AoA doesn't necessarily mean there will be definitive glimpses of the future or have anything to do with an altered future. He could simply be talking about character, story, or key undertones that were present in AoA.

McKellan was certainly a fantastic Magneto during the first three movies but by the end of Apocalypse I think Fassbender is gonna take the mantle from him. Fassbender has been simply pitch perfect in the role in First Class and DOFP. I can't see how he'll do any worse in Apocalypse. Same for McAvoy and Lawrence.

I think Fassbender is much closer to the character in the comics. McKellan sometimes looks and acts like a flamboyant old queen in a fruity purple costume.
