This is a continuation thread, the old thread is [split]497935[/split]
Eh Maybe strikes again. He said he's not sure, how typical.
X-Men: Apocalypse was necessary to establish the characters that will take over the franchise (Scott, Jean, Storm, etc). The movie serves as their intro as well as Apocalypse's.
Any movie after Apocalypse now features the primary roster from the books - in their prime. To go from DOFP where those key characters weren't part of the cast to a movie where they're suddenly the leads would make for a jarring transition. This way they're being explored prior to the takeover, from their first blood as X-Men. In the next film having them front and center won't be odd but rather expected and welcomed.
I guess the best movie to compare this to is Captain America: The First Avenger. They could have just introduced Cap via The Avengers but instead gave him an origin story back in the 40s (his time) to make us care more about him in the crossover.
No, it wasn't necessary at all. If you're effectively rebooting the franchise, there's no need for an intermediate phase. This is particularly the case given your being convinced that they're going to recast all the young actors they just brought on. Doing that effectively kills any meaningful audience identification with the introduction. And your formula requires them to reintroduce a bunch of new actors anyway, so there's no reason the characters needed a bunch of teen versions for the audience to grow attached to and then dislike that the actors aren't back.Agreed, though I think they'll recast the kids since they'll be tough to sell as 40-year-olds in the next film.
Apart from Wolverine, who FOX will definitely want back in the mix, I don't think they have very strong preferences toward using any given X-characters. Kitty, especially, was a minor figure through the entire film series to date, Iceman only a bit above that.I think Fox want to use a Wolverine, Rogue, Iceman and Kitty fast.
So they will recast and find a way to use them with Sheridan, Turner and Shipp.

Now there's another option I hadn't really given any thought yet. I think there might be ways that this could work, but they would have to be very careful about it.I wouldn't be surprised XMA finds a way to get the FC cast in the present.
Well to be honest I don't really mind in which time period they are as long as they don't get recast again for quite a while.I think to do it you would need more then one film after DOFP to do it because it's not been long enough to go in a different direction in the present

ignoring today's rumor the original cast was already done except for those joining jackman In wolverine.
James mcavoy and Michael fassbender will become the actors who fox pays heavy to return.Jennifer lawrence is likely out the door once apocalypse is done.
Nicholas hoult may agree to return post apocalypse on script and money being right.
With apocalypse your introducing cyclops, jean, storm, and nightcrawler.you have jubilee,Angel/archangel,and psylocke to work with as well.
Wolverine will be recast eventully. If i had to bet on it i would say second or third film in next trilogy.Jackman not cameoing in Apocalypse actully works better to prepare for the recast.
Jumping another decade isn't necssary at all.with young cast in apocalypse just go 2,3 years or at maxiuem 5 years.
I have always thought apocalypse would be bryan singer's last film at least as director.he could remain on main films as a producer.
As for time frame of gambit film if they are planning in next trilogy having gambit showing up it has to be set in past.

I never thought he'd keep directing after XMA... will he continue on in the same way as his involvement with First Class? Why not...What's all this I hear about Singer being done after Apocalypse? I know he can't do this forever, but I would've liked to seen him continue for just a little bit longer.
Damn, marvelrobbins making all the sense. Expect the last part. Gambit will be present day just like Deadpool. That's why he's not in XMA...

What's weird is other sites being like "MAKES SENSE!"As others have pointed out, this new rumor doesn't make much sense. Maybe if he meant the end of Jackman/Singer directing/OT. OK fine, but the wording is strange. DOFP just gave them a clean slate. Deadpool and Gambit are just starting. They just cast a group of young up-and-comers. If true tptb at Fox are.
Funny thing I heard, X-Men had the better Quicksilver.
