Fixed it for you.

When I first read the EW exclusive, and the way it was worded, I thought Magneto would be on Jean’s side with the whole, “Jean turns to Erik, who has now found a new purpose in life – setting up a safe place for lost mutants that don’t have the home to go to –“,

but these leaks contradict that assumption since apparently, it’s Beast who shows up, asking for his help to take her down with Charles and the team having a race against time to get to Jean before they can.

Which is Colossus' arc following the death of Magik.

This is the one reason I tend to hope the leaks are not true. Because we know for a fact (at least pre-reshoots) Jean goes to Erik in Genosha. It's in the freaking first and only bit of publicity they did. Ergo, that doesn't really match the leaks.

To me there are three primary problems with the leaks (if they are true), mind you I only read the main complaint and not all of them, so there are likely details I'm missing.

1. According to the supposed scoops, Phoenix doesn't go into space past our orbit, she just jettisons a spaceship beyond that point. Why not have her travel through the cosmos and visit this planet and cause some kind of major damage, even if it isn't at the magnitude of a Death Star like in the comics? Make the aliens seem reasonable for wanting to take her out.

2. The ending doesn't sound like it is about "The Trial of Jean Grey" but more of a generic Independence Day thing. I could be wrong, but retooling the third act so it is what is in the comics--Jean Grey's Judgement Day and where do the X-Men stand on it--is the obvious conflict and hook of the story. I can't imagine why they'd introduce aliens and not do that.

3. Magneto having another heel turn. This is probably too late to fix (if the leaks are true), but having him defend Jean Grey would've been a refreshing change of pace for the character. Have him and Cyclops, and maybe Xavier on her side, while the other mutants are slowly turned away.

Reshoots could fix the first two, but I don't think you can rewrite Magneto's role in the film. But Kinberg just repeating that beat with Magneto is so disheartening. He really learned nothing from Apocalypse... if the leaks are true. And because I have no idea, I won't get too worked up about it.

Oh yeah, the first one they can certainly change in reshoots. They have to. That would be a big improvement. Now the rest, I'm not sure how much they can change without having to change the whole movie.

Beast wanting to kill Jean for instance is something I don' think they can change without changing the whole movie.

Maybe Beast show up in Genosha specifically because Jean is there. Maybe Eric welcome Jean without knowing about Raven. Maybe Hank change Eric's mind. There are possibilities still.

Was able to watch that colider heroes. Not understanding why

They keep saying this is very similar to TLS and has a lot of the same beats. Based on those leaks, the only similarities I can see are Xavier lying to Jean and Jean killing a main character. Even those are different. So what am I missing here? Everything else seems different. Magneto is apparently doing the opposite of what he did in X3.

So we aren't gonna see the iconic PhoeniX costume? Or will they produce that for the reshoots?

Probably not. Just gonna get those ugly ass New X-Men suits that leaked.

I would give Kinberg a little bit of props if Jean destroyed Genosha and all the mutants in it under the power of Dark Phoenix. That could sub for the part where she eats the star in the comic and destroys that solar system.

Well I definitely didn't like that leaked costume. It looked so plain and everyone has the same design? Like cmon, its the freaking 12th X-Men Fox film!

I still don't understand how we went from them each having their own costume at the end of Apocalypse to the uniforms in DP. What happened to Cyclops' 90s suit?

"its been ten years!".

Everything about this film is questionable. I thought without Mingenbach, they would give us something sleak and embracing those colorful/individualised costumes. But they are all wearing Cyclops' X-Factor costume.

That's how I want it too. I mean, I know Logan will pop up in the MCU as quick as possible, so my (more realistic) dream is to have a first X-Men movie, then a Wolverine solo, then a second X-Men movie, and then Logan joining the team in a third one. But... it's a dream.

And yeah, Marvel is now getting a huge universe full of franchises (teams and solos). Part of me want them to keep expanding the cosmic universe and unknown properties (especially after GotG). But I want Marvel to fully explore the mutant universe as well. 4 movies a year, even tho is not quite enough, is the best path to take with so many franchises now.

I don't know about that. with Marvel finally owning Fox, they have to opportunity to streamline Marvel movies instead of three separate studios (from three movie franchises) releasing Marvel films every year. And I don't want them to release 4 MCU films per year as that could be quite challenging. Like 20 mcu films under 5 years, I hope they could maintain quality control. It just seems a lot. Also I doubt we are still getting Iron Man/Thor/Cap solo movies, while the others would complete their trilogy within the next five years. So IMO, keep it three films a year.

Sorry if this has been posted?

Apparently this is from Deadpool 2 only.

“I think it’s the classic X-Men: First Class tone, where there’s a bit of humor thrown in there, but it’s much darker than the previous one, Apocalypse. Apocalypse was the ‘80s, so there was a lot of room for goofy stuff in there. This one is a much more serious film about the internal struggle of Phoenix and Jean, so it’s a dramatic film. There’s nothing very comedic about it, other than the few moments that are in there. I think it’s gonna be a powerful one. It’s Dark Phoenix. I think it’s gonna be darker than we’re used to. It’s gonna be a change, but it’s gonna be fun for everybody. “
Awesome! It was incredible. He was very prepared and he knew what he was doing. He’s surrounded himself with a great team that’s been there for years. Everybody knows each other. It was a great environment for him to step forward. He knows the characters and story better than anyone because he wrote it. I think it was easy for him and it was very calm. It’s always been a fun experience, but it was also a calm experience, this time around, which was a relief. I’m sure there was a lot of pressure on him, but he’s such a nice guy and so cool. You didn’t see him being stressed or nervous, at all, on set, so it was very cool.

Jean Grey's Phoenix costume is something that I've always found something stupid, like why would a space God wear red latex with a yellow sash? It looks cool, sure, but contextually it is stupid. That being said, a red ****ing coat is just as stupid, if not more. The Frank Quietely uniforms are cool, but the ones at the end of Apocalypse were dope.

They could make the Phoenix costume, armor like or something that comes off with her power, or just something, just don't have her walk, all in flames like Magma, Human Torch and Sunspot in Dofp.

I mean, I can't comment on the actual Phoenix design, but we know the X-Men in the film have comic accurate designs from the Frank Quitley designs, which is great. While I still prefer the ones from X-Men: First Class, it's nice to see the "main team" in comic accurate costumes.

As for Phoenix, I doubt we'll see her in her "traditional" comic design. With that said if the design in the EW cover is what they can pull off the whole time she is in Phoenix mode and in motion (and I know that is a big if given some the spotty CG in this franchise), then the artfulness of the design might be one of the very best elements of this oddity.

Oh God, Frank Quitely's Emma Frost is just terrible in that picture with the giraffe neck.

Why would a God being need armour? Human Torch and Sunspot had uniforms, sure they weren't that visible but they had them. A God looking like Jean does in the concept may not be concept accurate but it makes more sense than a God needing armour and a lot more sense than one needing a uniform - regardless of how cool it may look.

Might as well ask why aliens are speaking English. lol

Given how Apocalypse underperformed and the cast doesn't really big much $ and attention compare to Hugh, Patrick, Ryan and the rest of the original cast. dDropping the X-Men from the title is a ballsy move, yet a bad idea in terms of marketing. I also think they should be more consistent with the titles.

Is anyone going to be fooled by them leaving "X-Men" out of the title? It's literally the same cast as the last three films, with the same characters they've been using since 2000. I just don't understand it. It's like some weird attempt to make the film more "sophisticated" and "adult."

It just seems really dumb to me.

Someone on the Reddit leaks page - who was quick to post that the plot spoilers were all fake - chimed in with this: "Well this is technically not a X-Men film but a Jean Grey film featuring the X-Men. Similar to Captain America: Civil War."

That helps explain the title being just Dark Phoenix. We have been complaining on here that the X-Men are background characters in their own movies, so they are removing X-Men from the title.

In addition, that quote I posted not only repeats Kinberg's claim of Civil War being an inspiration, but also confirms the classic X-Men are mostly background characters - hence the spoiler claims that Storm has virtually no screentime and no shining moment.

In my opinion, that person trying so hard to debunk the spoilers is connected with the movie or studio.

That's an awful reason. Like someone mentioned above Infinity War was still called Avengers.
