Dark Phoenix X-Men: Dark Phoenix News and Speculation Thread - - - - Part 13

I’ve read most of these leaked spoilers and almost none of them sound good, to be frank.

All I know is if Magneto switched allegiances and turns into a bad guy yet again I’m going to lose my mind.

If we go by Civil war logic then 2 sides can have conflicts on opinions to a situation without neither being wrong.

I don't think such a thing would be Magneto switching allegiances.

if this leak is true, it was something "good" for the kimberg.
he now has in his hands what the public found nice or not in the script and can make changes or improve some things ... maybe in the test session most people just complained of the 3 act and the final battle, it is now he is seeing which has things to change elsewhere in the movie.
Anyway, I did not think that bad, and we do not know the context of these scenes, but everything can be improved.

I mean, I can't comment on the actual Phoenix design, but we know the X-Men in the film have comic accurate designs from the Frank Quitley designs, which is great. While I still prefer the ones from X-Men: First Class, it's nice to see the "main team" in comic accurate costumes.

x-men-2.jpg

Again, they are wearing Cyclops' X-Factor costume, not New X-Men's costumes. The leaked costume pic don't look like they are wearing a jacket, and they don't have a belt. The X isn't as big as the picture you've posted.

I hope they dont use that line when Magneto says to Xavier, everytime we do this it ends the same way.

Sounds like a joke that Kinberg would think is funny but actually its a sad state of affairs and becomes self parody. Like the line in Apocalypse, at least we can a agree the 3rd one sucks. Cringe.

I still want to understand that scene of the magneto on the ground, apparently wounded with policemen around it
was that a destruction that jean caused after coming to him to ask for help?, it must cause some deaths, and then he joins the beast with some mutants who had been alive, to kill her

Don't you think the criticism for the previous films that he co-wrote would be enough as learning Xperiences. He's just not a good storyteller, scriptwriter and soon, not a good director. Like as a visual director, he could have at least demanded a nicer set of costumes for the X-Men. Yet we are back to matchy costumes, and they just look so plain and boring.

but it's not so simple
there is no guarantee that changes or new things will work well. Now, the little we know shows that he is really making a film focused on jean, using something new in the franchise (alien), among other things, very different from what it was done in X3, will it work? we do not know, this is the question, there is no way to know the context of everything, how it will be shown, if it is going to be well done, the member that leaked parts of the film, found it all boring, but was that the same opinion of most people who have seen the test sessions? there is no way of knowing..deadpool for example was described by some people who saw the test sessions as "very bad" ... and apocalypse some people said the movie was "wonderful" :whatever:
it's about the costumes, and it's good to remember that a lot of people thought it was cool, others thought the costumes that appear in the photo were ugly, something similar happened with the costumes presented at the end of apocalypse, many people thought it was beautiful , but a lot of people think it's ugly.

I'm still hopeful about this movie, I hope this ends well
I want to see a trailer, the context of these scenes mentioned by the boy, the effects, so there you have a better base if the movie is really boring or it is just the opinion of some people that does not fit the reality. I remember when I read some things about DOFP I was sure the movie would be boring and slow.

I just wish they'd finally put out some new promo material. A still or two, a set pic...anything. It's been more than half a year since they've released anything (if we don't count the leaked backstage photo from march, and [BLACKOUT]the recent Deadpool cameo[/BLACKOUT]).

But then again, if the recent plot leak is true and since its reception was so criticized, it's likely they're unsure what to release atm.

If anyone over there was smart they'd be releasing an image that disproves this leak in some way. That is of course, if the leak is false. The instant scrubbing of the details on reddit says more to its validity.

I think if the movie went well in the test sessions and really a problemina only in Act 3, they should show something in July
but if the film was not well rated in the test sessions, and if it really is something bad and annoying, they're going to have to change a lot, and that creates a big marketing problem.

Well Evan dropped an interview, saying essentially more or less what we've heard so far.

http://collider.com/evan-peters-interview-american-animals-dark-phoenix/#pose

On the general tone of the film:

"I think it’s the classic X-Men: First Class tone, where there’s a bit of humor thrown in there, but it’s much darker than the previous one, Apocalypse. Apocalypse was the ‘80s, so there was a lot of room for goofy stuff in there. This one is a much more serious film about the internal struggle of Phoenix and Jean, so it’s a dramatic film. There’s nothing very comedic about it, other than the few moments that are in there. I think it’s gonna be a powerful one. It’s Dark Phoenix. I think it’s gonna be darker than we’re used to. It’s gonna be a change, but it’s gonna be fun for everybody."
And Kinberg as a director:
"Awesome! It was incredible. He was very prepared and he knew what he was doing. He’s surrounded himself with a great team that’s been there for years. Everybody knows each other. It was a great environment for him to step forward. He knows the characters and story better than anyone because he wrote it. I think it was easy for him and it was very calm. It’s always been a fun experience, but it was also a calm experience, this time around, which was a relief. I’m sure there was a lot of pressure on him, but he’s such a nice guy and so cool. You didn’t see him being stressed or nervous, at all, on set, so it was very cool."
Plus here is a better look at Alexandra's
Deadpool 2 Storm
look.

Here's hoping this is the look the carries over in some form to her Dark Phoenix appearance.

This look actually works in my eyes (my favorite next to the X-Men Apocalypse and X2 looks), if she has the blue eyes, it would be perfect.

I'm confused that they're saying it's a dark or somber movie
the leak says on the contrary, there is nothing dark or somber about the movie
Who's lying?

Well, I feel like if the things in the leak are true then Jean's sacrifice, her inner struggles, her finding out the truth about her parents’ accident, the devastation upon finding out that not only Charles (a person she's learnt to trust) lied to her, but that her own father didn't want her anymore, the death of Mystique (while fans might rejoice, the characters will undoubtedly be devastated. Especially Charles and Hank), how this divides the already affected team (Mystique dead and Quicksilver down - both by the hands of their own teammate, Hank joining Magneto, Charles possibly blaming himself, Kurt and Ororo not knowing where to stand, since it was implied that Scott is the only one who's firmly on Jean's side throughout the entire duration of the movie), the mutants going from finally accepted to hunted down again, etc..
Idk, overall it does seem at least a little bit somber. Especially for characters.

I heard they recently declared the leaks as fake.

FoX won't release anything until the teaser trailer is going about to be released. We got that magazine cover, I can't remember when because it was supposed to be a first look issue for 2018 movies. Which magazine right now is gonna feature a first look issue for 2019 movies when we are in the middle of the year.

Anyway I Xpect the trailer to come out maybe in August or September for the theatrical release of The Predator.

This isn't necessarily a contradiction.

Kinberg defined X-Men Apocalypse as the most emotional X-Men movie to date. Did you feel that? I certainly didn't.

If the spoilers are actually true, Jean will kill a friend and mentor, Mystique, by accident. She'll try to kill her own father, apparently Charles too. Beast will want to avenge Raven's death. Jean might possibly kill some other innocent people too. And the X-Men needs to "take her down".

Those things can certainly be interpreted as dark and somber, especially for who's writing or acting, but that doesn't mean it will translate well onscreen.

I don't think such a thing would be Magneto switching allegiances.

At the end of X-Men: Apocalypse (during which he switched sides from being a horseman to fighting Apocalypse), Magneto helped rebuild the mansion and left Xavier on good terms.

In this, according to the leaks, he
battles against the X-Men with a team of random Genosha mutants

That sounds exactly like yet another switch of sides.

Who's 'they' and when did they 'declare' this?

There was an attempt on Reddit to debunk the claims of what's in the test screening, if that's what you mean. Hardly a declaration.

But on the Collider video, a guy on the panel said he'd heard exactly the same rumours from someone else who saw the screening and that means they were likely true.

There are things in those leaked plot points that sound entirely plausible for this film.

So, I’ve been thinking, even if these supposed rumors are true, they’re not lying when they say it’ll be closer to the source material than The Last Stand. There’s aliens, space, a fiery Phoenix aura and Cyclops actually has a sizable role... yep, definitely closer to the comics than TLS. But that doesn’t mean it will be extremely faithful to the comics and that certainly doesn’t mean it will be good.

That's the problem with test screenings. They usually screen different version of films to see which version gets the best reaction and then they can make appropriate changes.

Honestly, they should have avoided test screenings all together and just release the film they intended to make.

Or rather than not do test screenings which are fairly common to get the best possible film they can. Maybe the “fans” shouldn’t scrutinise all the rumours following them... just a thought :P

They should do a test screening for the critics.

Or maybe you should let the "fans" speak their mind regardless if its negative or positive. After all this is a forum... Just a suggestion :o
