Dark Phoenix X-Men: Dark Phoenix News and Speculation Thread - - - - - - Part 15

I've reported you. Please have more respect in future.

I didn't direct that at you or insult you. I didn't break any rules. I was making an observation about the X-Men movies.

Quite frankly, I've shown the Fox X-Men more respect than Fox and the franchise has shown the fans. So for you to put in a false report on me is despicable, disgusting, illegitimate, and invalid.

There is no perfect CBM anyway so its weird to critique one movie on that standard.

I think TDK is great but it isn’t perfect.
I think Superman: The Movie is great but it isn’t perfect.
I think Spider-man 2 is great but it isn’t perfect.
I think Black Panther is great but it isn't perfect.

Bahaha. I guess they need a sarcasm tag on here so people can be spoon-fed the obvious. Relax, bucko, I wasn’t serious. People are welcome/entitled to their own opinions and I respect them. I think the phrase “in my opinion” is redundant and goes without saying, so I don’t say it every time I express one.
“IMO/In my opinion” is one thing, your post was clearly selling something else.

You can walk back your original post all you want but you clearly still think “in your opinion” that people who love X2 have got it wrong.

So in your opinion, people who love X2 shouldn’t love X2?

Sophie and Tye.
They are harder to believe with just a movie and they were not even a couple.

Right, because it’s overrated. And it is a fault of the script when it’s supposed to be an ensemble film about a team, not a single character teaming up with a couple supporting ones and a few extended cameos. Almost everything that happens in the movie is a result of Wolverine’s story. I have no negative bias towards the character as evidenced by my high praise for his latest solo film, so, yeah, there goes that argument.
That is totally false, it is the most balanced film of the entire franchise. It seems that you speak of Apocalypse or Dofp.

I think Tye Sheridan is good. I liked him in Ready Player One. He's simply badly out of his element and miscast as an adult Cyclops. He still looks like a wet behind the ears rookie and still in his teens and not a Cyclops who has been at this for 10 years and should be a hardened combat veteran at this point.

It's not so much a case of they've got it wrong, so much as it's that they're secretly lying to themselves and only the unbiased people like himself can see the truth.

The older X-Men films are fine for their time but not up to the standard of the higher level comic book superhero films we are used to.

They were partly hampered by the standards of their era. The first film had its budget slashed almost in half. There wasn't a lot they could do. They only thought they could do black leather outfits because anything with color looked like Power Rangers.

They did sort of help break the mold and usher in a new era, but they are also incredibly dated at this point.

Whoa man, you’re making massive inferences, here. I don’t think I implied any of that and I certainly never said it. You’re twisting things because you want to be combative but I, unfortunately, am not at all interested. Now, if you want to continue discussing this, I’m game.

Cyclops is subtracted to a brainwashed pseudo villain and I agree that is a major mistake. I didnt mind X2 having Wolverine as lead, if only in later movies they had refocused on Scott, which never came of course but looking at X2 in isolation I emjoyed the idea of Logan becoming integrated with the school and babysitting the kiddie mutants whilst the senior X team were away doing missions. It felt like a moment right from the animated series, if only Jubilee was around too. Logan having protect the students from the SWAT team is imo a great sequence.

You cant really fault in 2002 them giving the light on the breakout star of X1 which was a risky movie to make in the first place.

This is exactly how I expected some people to respond. I love it! And yeah, it’s definitely true of some people that love it - that’s pretty much the case for anything that’s overrated. But there are some people that genuinely enjoy it for legitimate reasons - like me! I think it’s important to always acknowledge both the good and the bad, even about things we hold dear. It’s kind of ridiculous, isn’t it, when people try to pretend like something is without fault just because they’re a fan of it? Such is the case with anything, not just X2.

what are you even talking about? When have we pretended X2 is without fault? I'm pretty sure I have years worth of posts discussing my take on what those faults are as I'm sure others have also. What's with the new *****ey attitude? This isn't behaviour I normally associate with you.

Stop gaslighting. You clearly said all those thing and others read into your posts the same way I did.

but they are also incredibly dated at this point.

Actually in the long run they may end up the least dated. reason being is because people judge things on the new fad and if that trend isn't followed by everyone then they are seen as still being in the past. when really fads evolve all the time and the next one will be whatever movie does well and becomes the next surprise hit.

But then what makes the X-Men movies different to DC and Marvel is that they are basically trying to be their own flavor of comic book movie.

There’s the problem - I was never talking about you or anyone else individually on this forum. I was very much generally speaking, and you (and others) seemed to have taken it personally. My initial post never quoted or referenced anyone.

My “*****ey attitude” is very much within my character and has been a mainstay of my time here for the past 15 years. Strangely enough, though, I actually thought I was being fairly civil in my rebuttals today. But I guess you can’t please everyone!

Not really. Even X-Men movies were taking cues from The Matrix, which was the flavor of the month at the time.

The problem is : Tye and Sophie have only made an X-men and they were not a couple.

Well the fact that most people felt Wolverine and Jean had a closer relationship in the films. i ain't sure Marsden and Famke were seen as much of a couple either.

In the long run though if you are gonna compare the images that you compared then you didn't really have enough to compare to justify the argument.

You do you then.

Famke and James have been a couple in 4 movies. The screentime does not matter.

Neither does giving them the title of couple really. and then posting images of film screen caps and then posting publicity pictures of tye and Sophie... i mean how does that justify an argument at all?

There is no point in making DP with Sophie & Tye now. People are not familiar with them.doesn’t care if Fenix dies or lives, that is a reality. People see Sophie as Sansa, not as Jean.
