Dark Phoenix X-Men: Dark Phoenix News and Speculation Thread - - - - - - Part 15

So what you are saying is that anybody can spoil the movie to anybody who has not seen it yet just because some random person lifted some random "spoiler ban" for the movie?
You are saying that is ok for someone to ruin the movie to someone who has not seen it, just because is funny for the first person to do so?
Or because they dont care at all about any other person that exist with them in the planet?
Nice logic you got going on here, not selfish at all.
They have been blocked anyway, i wish i could report them, but SHH report system is "we will ban random users for random reasons, we decide who breaks the rules and who does not".
This is the end of the conversation about this topic by the way, dont bother to justify what they do or derail the thread with some excuse.
Well, somebody has to say it, and is not like the moderators do their "jobs", they are biased and unfair.
Pretty idiotic and immature of someone to spoil a movie that someone else has not seen, is as simple as that.
End of the conversation.
Anyway, back on topic: The marketing for this movie, or lack of it to express it better, is the one thing that can make this movie do good or bad at the box office, and it has been pretty inconsistent.
We usually enforce a two week NO SPOILER REVEAL plan on here.....but since Disney has now lifted their spoiler ban and talk across the HYPE skewers to the fact that the majority of the people here planning to see it have already done so, the staff has decided that we will not enforce a no spoiler talk now (which is just 2 days shy of the usual two week ban anyway).

Checking back through the last few pages....I didn't really see any Endgame spoilers mentioned in here anyway.

On a side note....calm down dude....try to talk friendly and civilly to your fellow posters. If you keep acting this way you might wake me up and make me do my "job".

Visor looks cool but the text next to it translates to "Almost Cyclops." LMAO

It doesn’t exclusively translate to almost, though I get your reference, but more so means “like” or “akin”, if you will, since it’s not an exact replica. Standard for figures that aren’t exactly like as they appear in the source, like gauntlet toys ect.

Also, @Hand Banana I’m sure Disney/Marvel aren’t licensing that but rather a subcontractor found a loophole as it specifically pertains to the Japanese legal marketplace, as they typically do. Otherwise these will be available on a wider release.

@amalgam9 Did you really just make a new account with one less digit to complain about something that the internet has universally agreed on?

Like I’ve read on basically every website, comic book related and other, that Disney/Marvel said spoilers are free game as of Monday.

THIS is a tv spot they’re airing, taken from the official Marvel Entertainment YouTube account,SPOILERS ABOUND.

If anything, grab a pen and paper and send them an angry letter if you feel so strongly about it. It’ll be the only one they get anyway.

I noticed on Fandango that some Regal theatres have started selling tickets.

There was no Dark Phoenix "Legacy" trailer on our IMAX Endgame tonite. Just the final trailer. Looks like that supposed "Legacy" trailer was only for international audiences.

I loved the Legacy trailer, I also loved how it used footage and listed every main x-men movie except TLS at the end lol. I wish it was released online, I saw Endgame in IMAX, twice in two distant major cities, and neither had it so I think you’re right.

Fox or Disney or whoever produced that Legacy trailer can erase X3 from audiences memories all they want, but Dark Phoenix's trailers and plot points and costuming and aesthetics and Kinberg taking back his apology for X3 will just remind them of that film all the same.

Nice try to whoever did that but "Don't remind the audiences of X3” should have been mandated from the very beginning not just on the film's final month before release.

I'm going to assume English isn't your first language.

Second thing, that is some laughably bad bias you got going on there. What the hell does "Disney don't make movies" even mean??

(Yes, Sorry)

That's mean that they use theatres like big TV screen.
Their products follow the rules of serial TV that have constantly catch viewers' attention so the use of short-slogan phrases, characters one-dimensional (that means that they must have one emotions at the time, with no inner trait - eg. Spidey without his Key sense of responsability) to be peefectly clear, and no use of esthetic to narrate 'cause It would require a set of ability that their viewers don't have.

We'll see if this "Legacy" trailer is shown during tonite's IMAX Endgame. Anyone in North America seen it on theirs?

It was never shown on my Saturday IMAX Endgame screening (granted we were a bit late, though we did catch the DPh trailer but no "Legacy" trailer played before it. Coincidentally, the Godzilla trailer was played before DPh).
How long was the legacy trailer anyway? I only want to see it because of the ot cast.

As for dark phoenix trailer playing before Endgame goes, I can say from my own social circle P.O.V that it has gathered interest amongst my friends and work colleagues whom most of them are casual movie goers. Also given the fact a few of them are big G.O.T fans. Hopefully all this exposure will give the movie a good boost on opening weekend.

Well Venom playing its second trailer in front of Infinity War was a major factor in its success.

It feels more like Dead Duck than Dark Phoenix. I saw the trailer showing before Endgame and there was no audience reaction at all, I also felt Dark Phoenix looked kinda small, basic and lacking any wow factor.

There was also no audience reaction to Venom in the Infinity War showing either. That definitely looked small, basic, and lacking in any wow factor to me. Was just as surprised as everyone else at how it turned out at the Box Office. Audience reaction is not really something to based Box Office off. Example:

I heard some chatter after the Dark Phoenix trailer in my Captain Marvel showing with a guy asking the person he was with if he or she wants to see it. There was also chatter in the Endgame showing, which I couldn’t make out what exactly was being said but they did mentioned Jean Grey.

X3 was a movie that was liked by general audiences. CinemaScore and Box Office proves that. Even Kinberg said that. Most of the younger audiences never even watched that movie anyway, it came out before they were born or was to too young to see or remember it. To most young people Jean looks like Scarlet Witch.

My friend (obviously a huge sample size) who didn't like the first teaser, said he really looking forward to seeing it after seeing the final trailer.

I feel the exposure with Endgame will only benefit the film. I do think critical reviews will be a major aspect in the success of this film.
I also feel it may inadvertently benefit with causal movie fans feel it in the MCU because of the Disney acquisition + it being the first superhero film.

I don't think the GoT fan base has every truly aided in the box office of films starring the cast. That being said, a lot of people seem to like Sansa and many (while not liking the characters/her story arc) have been praising her acting this season.

I kinda wish they showd the international trailer in every trailer preview before Endgame because that has the most personality behind it. It may be confirmation bias but I can hardly remember any other decent trailers that previewed which would have gathered the attention of viewers - maybe John Wick 3, but I only remember that because I had no idea Halle Berry was in it (she still looks awesome). But with no Spiderman FFH in the opening week and no other big comic book film coming out soon, I think you are are and the exposure will help Dark Phoenix.

Not too sure audiences would think its an MCU movie though, the aesthetics and tone of the international trailer is very detached from a typical MCU trailer.

Most of the films they starred in have not been very good or they had small roles.

Omg whose even hyped for this movie? Like who would even go watch this? Like it doesnt even look anything like the comics. This is a flop for sure.

Lammmeeee

As I said I ultimately don't think it will make a huge impact (based on previous GoT cast films) but I think a lot more people are praising in Sophie's acting ability, which may make them feel more confident in her performance in this film.

Overall, I think the exposure with endgame and how the reviews are will be the major factors in driving people to see it.

I have to disagree about the Marvel Studio characters being one-dimensional to be honest.

To try explain better. For one-dimensional i mean that they are written ti not have any inner dimension but only the one they show.
When they are funny, they are Total funny, when they are sad, they are Total sad as reaction to the story.
Let me say at contrary Spidey from comics when well written (eg. DeMatteis) is full of interior drama even when he makes joke.
That's for me and huge difference that in fox-x-men (in some characters) we have.

Should get our first official clip/scene of this movie when Sophie’s on Jimmy Fallon on Friday. Which also means the first hint of Zimmer’s score! Looking forward to the promotion tour to kick in, should be in full force next week.

the next few days will be intense
here in Brazil months ago they (sophie, chastain and simon) recorded a participation in a very popular program, the program is 1 hour long, probably to be screened the next week or the week before the movie's premiere.
