Seem a lot of people who watch the X-films have never watched Apocalypse. Seen several people be surprised that Jean is being played by “Sansa”. Examples.

I actually like that IMAX poster (regardless of the awkward pose of the CGI-person, who's DEFINITELY not Sophie, standing there in the middle).

So I saw the leaked last 10 minutes of the movie circulating twitter. It was mute so I couldn't hear anything. Don't know where it came from. Action-wise, it was pretty solid from the short bit I saw - which is at the climax I presume (as Chastain reaches Jean right before Jean lifts the train up...all the way to the end of the movie, unless this was edited). Didn't show the battle during the train ride. Chastain's character does have some powers. I do like the action in this much more than Apocalypse. Shot in a more modern way.

Some of the Phoenix effects did look like fire even though I don't like this new version of the effect before the reshoot. But I had some problems with her flowing hair in some shots which didn't look as seamless as earlier shots in the film to me. I did like the way she used her powers to fight the aliens.

And the climax reminded me somewhat of Jean's confrontation with Mastermind, even though I couldn't hear what they were saying.

Tons of theaters in my country are selling tickets for four movie marathons with First Class, DOFP, Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix. Tickets appear to be selling quite well.

No offense, but I think fans want it to be so much like the comic version that they can’t see it working any other way.

Even if it was like the comic there would still be complaints about why are they doing dark phoenix again, Jean has no build up, why is Kinberg directing, cant wait for MCU xmen, etc.

Honestly, that’s like asking why they did Deadpool’s origin again. Phoenix never fought any of the X-Men in X3 and had only ten minutes of screen time. She was completely wasted and that was the major complaint about that movie.

Also, Logan’s tracking was $55-60 million.

I’m just kind of surprised they didn’t even try to watch it on television.

We’ll see, but writings on the wall, and I don’t see it opening to more than 55 million, 65 million (Apoc opening) max. One thing that I noted during X men Apocalypse’s promo campaign, was that NONE of the trailers played during any showings/films I saw in the lead up, and their were plenty. I’m having the opposite effect now where literally every movie I’ve seen thus far has included a DP trailer, same is said for DOFP. I can already see much more interest in my country, although the BO from my part of the world does little to boost its overall statistics, lol.

I can see a substantial increase in numbers for DP internationally, compared to Apoc. That being said you also need both of the big markets to work in tandem, and right now Stateside it looks like more of the same, while China looks like it could be were it succeeds. Because of that, it will probably end up near 550 million give of take. If it were able to make it to 180-200 in the US, it could be a 700 million type of movie, but I just don’t see that happening.

Or filmmakers want it to be so much like their version that they can't see the comic version working.

And it would be the right complaints, Dark Phoenix is not a self contained story you just decided to tell in a movie.

And so far the footage does not make me think telling this story again was worth it.

it would not be scary if DP got 100m in china for 4 days
It all depends on if the movie is good.
if it is a good movie I think it will have a similar performance to aquaman.

the millions he will lose in the US will be recovered internationally

"Anticipated" movie Detective Pikachu only made $39Million in China. It was projected to open at $50-60Mil.

it will be interesting to follow the film's performance internationally
I think it's going to have a good increase in china, japan and korea
in India apparently by forecasts it will open better than XMA.
brazil, mexico, france, russia will give a box office very similar to XMA
everything leads to believe that this film can be between 550-600m.
