Dark Phoenix X-Men: Dark Phoenix News and Speculation Thread - - - - - - Part 15

It'd be interesting to see if EW comes out with a Dark Phoenix cover before its release. I've only found one Dark Phoenix cover in the Chapters (Canadian Barnes & Noble) magazine rack. It was the SciFi magazine with the new~ish Kinberg interview. Seems like the production didn't prepare any magazine tie-ins for this movie.
They did, that’s what I was talking about. It just came out today Prep for 'Dark Phoenix' with EW's 'X-Men' collector's edition there was another magazine with a Dark Phoenix cover at Barnes and Noble that a complete x-men themed issue too, but it didn’t look like it had anything new so I didn’t bother getting it.

It would’ve went easy to pin the massive amounts of destruction around the world on Apocalypse. So, he probably looked like a hero after he helped the X-Men stop him. They likely gave him a very, very generous pass on his Nixon assassination attempt because things were so turbulent between mutants and humans then. Twenty years later, the world’s cool with mutants, so they’re likely more forgiving. They probably figure giving Magneto land will work as a peace offering.

That and the fact that it’s very easy to see how Xavier, the worlds seemingly most powerful telepath who can use a machine in his own home to scan the minds of millions, who has a direct line to POTUS and has a team saving the world had gone out and found the actual assasin. It was also revealed in DoFP that Erik was thwarted in protecting Kennedy.

The US government would have even given the mutants of the world the sanctuary as part of his deal in dropping the charges in addition to the 10 years of wrongful imprisonment.

I don’t see the issue.

Yes I'm aware of the Collector's cover with a mix of Sophie and SirPatStew and Halle and Alan on the cover. It's priced a bit higher.
I'm talking about a weekly cover since it's Entertainment Weekly, similar to these.
...

I don’t see the issue.
I mean, WOW.

If anything the biggest plot hole for me is how Erik was so cleanly shaven after 10 years of imprisonment and NO METAL. Same goes for his captivity in X1/X2

I would have loved it a lot more if the pants were different with an X around the ankle, didn’t just look like slacks, and they also had the grey striped long sleeve shirt underneath. That with the grey shirt is a staple Jean Grey look.

I quite liked Jeans costume at the end of Apocalypse, would have been nice to see this slightly adapted for each of the characters maybe with the yellow x across the chest

It was the right idea and a good direction to follow, aesthetically-speaking. The materials and the design could've been improved. This movie should've done that improving.

So Trask shouldn't have been arrested at the end of DOFP? I mean "Come on guys, it was so turbulent between mutants and humans back then, surely we can forgive Mr. Bolivar for his sins...Peach and Love!"

Magneto escaped at that time, while Trask was there as a scapegoat for the the government.

To the rest of the world Magento disappeared then should up to help the X-men stop Apoclyspe. Outside the X-men and horseman no one is aware of Magnetos relationship with Apocalypse, it would be easy for Xavier to explain Magneto aided them.

Even further, by Apoclalypse in the new timeline mutants have began to really be embraced by society to point that they may think that maybe Magneto might have been justified in retaliating when the government was considering making giant mutant hunting/killing robots...

All these theories sound so much better than Kinberg's Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix scripts. You guys' imagination is wild. How can one watch your movies?

Justified by retaliating to killing millions? Lol

The logical explanation is that Apocalypse had manipulated the minds of his horseman and they were simply following his commands to wreck havoc without any free will. The government knew the magnetosphere was being messed up so they must have known Magneto was very likely involved. Its really not too different from Hydra controlling Bucky to assassinate targets for them without full consciousness

Maybe the US government doesn’t know the Magneto brought all that destruction in Apocalypse. Xavier probably could have lied and said that it was just Apocalypse and Magneto aided the X-Men in defeating him. Honestly there wasn’t any military help in Cairo to help them stop Apocalypse so basically he walked away Scott free

To be fair I really don’t think this is a big deal. Suspend reality for it. Look at Loki. The guy practically destroyed New York. How many times has Magneto done things in the comics. Like it’s a comic book to movie translation. I don’t think there needs to be a reason for Magneto being let free.

The Grant Morrison suits dontlook as plain as the costumes in this movie.

I agree. The double stripe on the sleeve, the belt, the ankle, the boots, the X gloves, all of that would have been ace. It looks like cosplay. I hate them as much as the characters.

Also, tons of new footage!
