Dark Phoenix X-Men: Dark Phoenix News and Speculation Thread - - - - - - Part 15

I've been sitting w/ my thoughts on #DarkPhoenix for a while now. Writing about this movie is difficult b/c I've loved what this franchise has meant for those who feel different/outcast for nearly two decades. Review coming 6/5.1 am.

Writing a review for the movie is difficult... uh oh. Sounds like she didn't enjoy the film.

This doesn't look good.

Interesting! Can't wait for the embargo to lift. The premiere here is on the 7th, still a while to go.

There was an alarm during the Dark Phoenix screening and the theater had to be evacuated.

Fire alarm going off during the climax of the movie.. wow, that's too funny. I wouldn't even be mad.

Thinking back, the same exact thing happened to me when watching Fant4stic in theaters, years ago. Bad Omen?

My thoughts exactly..& this is why I'm not entertaining any of the negative reviews. I'm going in with an open mind.

Literally the definition of being closed-minded, but OK.

Being open-minded is accepting opinions or views you don't agree with, and/or are able and willing to change your opinion(s) provided with new facts or experiences.

Bought my tickets for the Thursday session. Here in Aus they only just went on sale. Got 5 tickets.

korea press screening is over.
some said so so, some said much better than X3 and better than you expected.
so looks like it's going "okay, not bad".

It seems to be a movie that is "surprising" many people, at the very least it seems to be decent.
everything was so toxic around this movie that people were expecting the worst thing in the world.
Perhaps this low expectation will give a good result to DP

As if people actually believed critics were leaving press screenings early because they thought the film sucked. The negative scenarios people want to believe are just incredible

Shame about the fire alarm though during the climax of the movie. That will defitinly impact the audiences viewing experience. Similar thing happened to me during Interstellar, the screen projector turned off from overheating and we were blacked out for around 25 minutes; during the tesseract scene no less. Really killed the momentum and even though restarted half an hour later I needed to watch it again in full to fully embrace it. So not sure how it will affect these critic reviews of Dark Phoenix

I read many tweets last night from people about to see the film. They were all pretty negative. "Thank god it's under two hours", "don't want to go", "waste of time" and so on. I kind of doubt the film is going to be good enough to beat expectations like that. But, from the reactions alone, I do have a hunch that I'm going to be pretty happy as a fan of the franchise.

From critics? Or just regular movie goers?

so it's better than apocalypse, entertaining overall. not great but okay movie.
I don't know why they had this tight embargo tho. with such low expectation and very negative thing going on.. let peopler know it's not that bad would be great promotion.

Some great reactions so far. Hoping for it to be received well. Also the Wired interview with Jess and Sophie was hilarious.

From what I've seen, the critical reaction won't be good. I think I've seen two positive'ish reactions to about fifteen snarky ones. It looks bad. I'm preparing for something between 20%-49% on RT. I'm still hoping this is all going to turn around. The X-Men deserves better. The franchise deserves better. The cast deserves better.

I'm prepared for the worst for many months
some critics have already given a "rotten" to this movie some time ago ... I wait for a miracle but the irony of some critics in the reviews shows that I'm probably right.
