Dark Phoenix X-Men: Dark Phoenix News and Speculation Thread - - - - - - Part 15

This is the Kinbergverse, anything your heart desires can happen...

This was such a poorly-conceived shot, IMO. How do you do a blink-and-you'll miss it cameo for six X-men, hide the A-listers virtually shrouded in the shadows in the corner and insert what might as well be a random painting of some bald guy in the background, when you already have a prominent bald guy in the same cameo. I'm sure that painting was included in the shot on purpose but I honestly still don't know who that's supposed to be (and I'm sure I'm not alone)...which defeats the purpose of including it in the shot.

thats my same point: how can you put the A-list X-Men, the most iconic characters from X-Men's 50 years history (Cyclops, Storm....) and put them on the sidelines??

however decided that should be fired, imho. Thats not the way to respect the x-men. no man

At this point those ideas (Kitty/Dark Phoenix sequels/New Mutants trilogy/Gambit/X-23/Multiple Man) are all done and would be canned by Marvel Stud10s as soon as Fox is now 100% under Disney. Marvel would likely streamline Marvel movies now that they've got Fox, and if there's a priority from the reacquired properties it would like focus on the X-Men team, and not solos. Deadpool 3: X-Force might get released but even the development for that has been quiet ever since Doj's approval. Anyway, its really weird that there's still no trailer.... Like the trailers for Captain Marvel and summer films would likely debut their trailers in October to December. Don't tell me Dark PhoeniX is dropping theirs in those months only for other films to further steal its thunder.

I agree wholeheartedly, there's something really fishy about this movie, I mean no teaser, no promotion in virtually anyway whatsoever, even the Hype forums which are normally crazy the year before opening are pretty much running on fumes, and in the coming weeks the movie will be completely shot and the VFX must be what? 50-60% of the way done?. I mean "New Mutants" had a teaser 7 months before its original opening, and we are now 5 months before "Dark Phoenix", it kinda feels like FOX knew about this deal for so long they just wanted to give Simon Kingberg the oportunity to actually direct an X-Men movie before he never gets to come near any of these characters again. So I guess hurry up Minka Kelly "Planet of the Apes: Final Conflict" aint just gonna direct itself!

Unless they move it again (which just sounds bizarre since they shot it so early and previously released X-Men team films weren't delayed twice, not even once), it would make sense for the late marketing. Well they had an early marketing with the Entertainment Weekly issue but that was back in 2017.

One thing is clear, this franchise is at the finish line no matter how bad or good Dark PhoeniX is. I think the reshoots (which IMO, is unnecessary) is just an incentive for the cast and crew who would probably won't be part of the MCU reboot. Do I feel sorry for them? Absolutely not, as I don't even like the direction is this franchise is heading to since 2016. Kinberg as the head puppeteer is also a big head scratcher.

Your reply to ehhh's post was obviously meant to discourage him from being enthusiastic about an MCU Dark Phoenix. You can pretend not to make a judgement call on it all you want but we all know that's not the case.
My reply is self explanatory. The judgement call is obviously not coming from me as evident anyone who can read (psh....so funny you of all people would say so, yet as I predicted, here you are doing exactly that). Get on that reading rainbow.

Yeah, a bit of a strange decision. Hopefully we are finally at the finishing line of the main characters being sidelined.

Funnily enough X-men 1 was moved UP from Christmas release to Summer release that same year. DOFP was moved UP from July 2 months earlier to May, switched with Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.

Dark Phoenix misses its release date and is delayed but apparently nothing to see here.

Perhaps don’t accuse people of not being able to read if your past posts are mostly riddled with typos.

And now watch you play the victim when it’s usually you who does the childish name-calling and the “you can’t read” insults.

Could someone be standing where the painting is? course, i agree. but overall its not a bad shot for the frame they had to fill in. perhaps they could have had them all standing in iconic spots just for comic buffs but they did multiple versions of that shot anyway and the deadpool team picked the one they wanted to use.

I don't think thats fishy. i think they are going the Logan approach where they will give it in bulks when they decide to do it rather than throwing it out to regular.

There are 2 ways to market a movie and thats keep the audience updated regularly and there is wait till the right time to start pumping it out.

Honestly when they released those images before in EW i thought that was way too early as i think they were still filming at that time.

And that's all valid, but is it the right approach? "Logan" was the last Hugh Jackman movie, an R-rated western movie with Oscar word of mouth, they probably didn't even need more than a day's promotion.

This is different, I mean there's a lot of uncertainty in the air (the merger, new director, the phoenix storyline again, probably the last FOX X-Men movie, a sequel to a not that beloved movie), as I said before even New Mutants got a teaser 7 months before their original date, and we still have nothing (Yeah we had the EW spread, but in the age of the internet that was decades ago), I think this movie needs a more aggressive campaign or they need to tell the fans the truth (if there's any truth to be told).

If they're emotionally/dramatically mirroring Logan, as much as I love The Wolverine, then I think so.
If it's for production-related reasons, then of course they still have time to get the marketing going.

I thought it was already known that Fox markets as close to the release as possible because they don't want people to forget about their movies if promo starts early?

Yeah that seems like such a long time ago now.

But that's not a rule set in stone, and also as I said New Mutants had a teaser 7 moths before its original release date, X-Men is now 6 months away.

5 months. But yeah it’s pretty this month or never. Either this week with Predator or at the end of the month for Venom. 5 months seems to be in line with other superhero films, Aquaman, A:IW, etc. Should get some news soon.

Don't get mad at me just because I told the truth. You did exactly what I expected because you have history of doing it. Blame yourself for that.

Hey guys new to the forum here! Hope y’all are doing great. Does anyone know what the current budget of the movie is now with all of the reshoots?? I’ve searched around but cant find anything. I think it’ll probably end up being one of the most expensive films ever given so much reshaping. I hope it works out but this Kinberg guy is a total unknown quantity when it comes to direction. If his direction is anything like his writing then we will be in for a pretty excruciatingly painful watch.

Actually it came in under budget before the reshoots so it seems still to be in line with the original estimates of 150 million until otherwise reported by reputable sources.

That’s not horrible for a budget. I was concerned it ballooned to BvS or JL levels

It's not an estimate, it's the accurate budget. The mayor of Montreal, Denis Coderre, confirmed it. He said that between $75- and $80-million of the movie’s $150-million budget will be invested in Montreal.

At least 4 different people have called out your quote as making a judgement call. I'm sorry those are facts, based on your history but nice effort trying to appear impartial. It didn't work.

The question is if the $150Million quoted by the now EX-Mayor of Montreal is in US or if it's Canadian $.

Why would this matter it's not going to change the budget dramatically either way? Nice try at dramatics though.
