Dark Phoenix X-Men: Dark Phoenix News and Speculation Thread - - - - - - Part 15

Sophie Turner to appear on the September 26 Late Late Show With James Corden / @SophieT

I'm not sure I get this whole obsession with them not showing a trailer so late into production. Are people suggesting that it is a sign the movie is going to be delayed again? X-Men: Apocalypse first trailer was released in December and the movie came out in May. So is it suppose to tell us that the stydio doesn't have faith in its movie and they're hiding it because it's bad? Well, as others suggested the first Logan trailer also came out five months before the movie. In terms of comic book movies in general we still haven't seen a Hellboy trailer or any sign of promotional material for the movie and it comes out a month before Dark Phoenix. Of course one can say that's going to be a much smaller movie in scale and budget but still.

Honest question but what is even the point of these complaints? That FOX marketing is bad? Totally aggree. But that's how they pretty much always promote their films so what's the big deal all of a sudden? Regardless of how I feel about this movie or what I'm probably expecting it to be, I think some people try to constantly find negative things to nag about a franchise and universe they don't like. I don't believe as of right now that there is any cause for concern regarding the lack of promos. If there isn't a trailer in the next six weeks, then sure, it's going to be quite unusual even by their standards. Until then I wouldn't read that much into it.

Despite me not being happy about Kinberg directing this I want this to be good critically because if it’s another stinker like Apoclaypse then I worry how this might impact its MCU future.

Kinberg produced Logan, the best comicbook movie since TDK.

Dark Phoneix teaser has a good chance at outshining the Captain Marvel teaser.

Captain Marvel looks medoicre and what seems an uninteresting story about some bland mono-expresioned Mary Sue fighting aliens.

If Fox can cut a good trailer emphasising the inner mental struggles of Jean Grey and the threat and conflict her powers creates then im sure people would be more interested in this grounded human centric story rather than what seems another archetype MCU hero(oine).

Rumours are the alien species is The Brood now, the screenings never outright stated what they were.. just greyish, I'm not sure if they were talking about the motion suits. They also said she was just some random person at a lake house the generic alien invades when they land and whatever she is shifts into Chastain form and infiltrates the Government as 'Agent Smith'. She has been described as clinical, manipulates Jean, Kinberg's caption of her on ig was hypnotic, so definitely some powers of persuasion. I hope she is Cassandra Nova and I hope we get an Xavier vs Nova screen. Wasn't a working title or code name for Dark Phoenix Super Nova?
That's based on the discredited Reddit "leaks" where that user was banned. I don't trust that. There were all kinds of rumors from Chastain playing Lilandra, to a skrull, a gender swapped Mastermind, a gender swapped Sinister, the Brood, Cassandra Nova. My bet is that whoever she's playing will take the place of Mastermind.

I wasn't thrilled with the CM trailer, which fell short of the brilliant initial MCU teases for Ragnarok, Thor and Infinity War. But I don't think a direct comparison between DP and CM will do the former any favors. DP is about a young woman who gains awesome powers, becomes mentally unhinged and murders her teammates. CM is about a young woman who gains awesome powers and becomes an Thanos-punching superhero. I'm not sure Writer/Producer/Director Simon Kinberg will want to compare the two flicks.
Not comparing films. I'm talking about CM's trailer which wasn't as exciting as other Marvel trailers.

No point dragging Captain Marvel to be more optimistic about Dark Phoenix. I stop paying attention when I see "Mary Sue."

It would also match up with the countdown that one random girl started doing. Here's hoping it's an epic first trailer! They need to go all out to make up for the lack of buzz after Apocalypse almost ended the franchise.

Well also no point dragging Dark Phoenix just to feel better about Captain Marvel.

Infact why even compare the 2 at all? genitals don't need to be measured at all times.

So curious to know what's happening in this scene. Wonder if it will be in the trailer. Love her intense death stare, lol.

Just trying to figure out which villain she's actually playing. I like her eerie appearance.

I was skeptical at first but if Chastain is Miss Sinister, Cassandra Nova or even involved with the Brood it seems to me that will be enough of a surprise for the general audience.

If you think about it the last time the Xmen franchise had a legit villain you have to go back to X2. This is why Apocalypse was disappointing as so much potential was there. Seeing Magneto vs Xavier go at it has been a nice foundation for the franchise but honestly there needs to be a point where the franchise moves on from that. Hopefully Dark Phoenix does that and it will be flying under the radar if it can pull it off.

here's a great guess...........she's a Mummudrai. Not cassandra nova but shes going to be this psychic parasite from space that wants to control the power of the phoenix. She took on Jessica's body as a human host..
