From what I saw: Visually I like this WAY more than Apocalypse, not just VFX-wise (which seem like Kinberg handles pretty well) but also in the way it's shot. It's more modern style film making similar to Logan. It doesn't look like it was shot on a sound stage. It's pretty much what I expected given it's suppose to be more drama based. But I don't think this will be what the official trailer will look like (I read this was only a rough cut shown to press presentation in Russia). Based on Trailerpark.com, we might see more space shots (probably from the space shuttle sequence) and more of a Phoenix shot. But so far I like the way it looks.

Raven's character development is one of the most incosistent in CBMs.

It’s been established in the first appearance by JLaw as the character that she is not in able to fully focus on something else and be as quick and adept while in her human form because she’s trying to hold her appearance. With that having been established in First Class, the entire Raven fights at the cage match scene in Apocalypse should have not been able to happen as it did. Not only that, her reason for being in human form at the school in a dark phoenix is completely out of the window because she “leads” the friggin team! No one is surprised at her showing up anymore! Why!!!

The trailer is pretty much about Jean. from the start where you see her as a child to the transition to an adult.

I actually saw the trailer and was suprisedI liked what I saw. The final shot was very very nice I loved it. My only only gripe is I hope this movie does not focus on Mags/Raven Im really hoping we get more exporure and insight into Nightcrawler and Storm since im certain Cyclops and Jean will be getting screentime which is deserved but the focus after Jean should be on the XMen if we get some Storm/Cyclops rivarly and Storm/Jean sister moments that will be a great touch. So far I am liking what I am seeing.

I can't believe they didnt drop it today. We know they have another, completed and updated, one ready to go an we're basically just shy of a month from the original release date.

In Captain Marvel trailer, Fury announces threads that only her can take. "We need you". And we actually get to know about her arc and struggle of understanding who she is and where he comes from from her POV. Fury announces a new hero.

Nothing in Dark Phoenix trailer is told by Jean's POV, showing her internal struggle and her arc. Only a background, which Apocalypse also got. The entire trailer is told by the POVs of Eric and Charles. Dark Phoenix trailer does not present Jean as the main character of that movie, or anything related to her arc through her POV (unlike CM). The trailer clearly presents her as a thread that both Charles and Eric need to deal with.

And if those narratives weren't enough, the histories of both FOX/Kinberg and Marvel/Feige are completely different. So I have no concern about how they'll handle the main character. Can't say the same about the Studio, the writer and producer who brought us TLS, XMA, Fant4stic, and for the past 18 years have been prioritizing Eric and Charles over the X-Men members.

I like the stance it took with focusing on the emotional core of the other characters. Not many people can see themselves in Jeans struggle, or want to admit it aloud at the very least. While I am a Jean fan first and foremost, the part that connects with audiences from a film making perspective is how those that care about her deal with someone they love turning into their biggest fear. Its a metaphor for a lot and thats what sells the movie to those not fully in the know.

I just hope theres a cool Phoenix voice effect such as her speaking the same line in a few different emotional tones, over eachother. That'll be a cool way to show a telepathic mental breakdown. Also, it seems like they're going cosmic entity reincarnated based on Chastains line which screams Ultimate X-Men to me, for better or worse.

What I liked about the trailer is it's serious dramatic tone (thankfully far away from the goofy Apocalypse). That's probably why I didn't like the Captain Marvel trailer. The tone just didn't sit well with me (that and it reminds me of tv shows). This trailer reminds me of the grounded realism in the Winter Soldier & Civil War marvel films (which are my top marvel movies). And even the more grounded take and shooting style in Logan.

Let's not hope it's similar to what they did with Apocalypse's voice. Otherwise, it will sound like a disaster.

No, tomorrow night. It’s currently just after 5am GMT as that translates to 10pm Pacific time which is where I’m at. Meaning the trailer should debut 1am eastern/ 10pm pacific tomorrow, 2 hours ahead of Sophie’s talk show appearance. That seems like an odd strategy even though DoFP premiered its 3rd trailer that way.

Still...that was the 3rd trailer. I feel confident we should wake up to something tomorrow.
