Dark Phoenix X-Men: Dark Phoenix News and Speculation Thread - - - - - - Part 15

The final shot of the film should be the old cast with their younger counterparts with "Thank you...the end."

Would never happen.

But I would love for Xavier (James Macvoy) to be sitting in cerebro and giving one of his classic narrative speeches ("evolution, hope family..").
The camera would be slowly revolving around him.

He speaks over a montage of the younger cast on various missions, which slowly morphs into the original cast in missions. As this happens Macvoys
Voice morphs in Patrick Stewarts voice. It returns to cerebro with Patrick Stewart now sitting in cerebro.
The camera moves to behind his head and moves backwards down the Cerbro walkway and the Cerbro doors close (the X taking up the frame)
...*xmen film theme*

Post credits would be Ian McKellen in drag. Why? Because the fans demand it.

Not to bandwagon the 'screw Kinberg' sentiment, but I hope his time with Marvel ends with Dark Phoenix. The MCU has its own issues but it doesn't need his screenwriting talents. Maybe his directorial skills will win me over, however unlikely it appears.
Simon Kinberg, thank u, next.

Agreed on both. Failing this, I'll settle for a montage of Stewart and McKellen hanging out over the credits.

Potential spoilers on Dark Phoenix ending below...
A nice as a closing narration from Xavier (McAvoy to Stewart) would be, word is that the film ends with Charles away from the school and Scott leading in his place. Because screw continuity. Because every prequel has to subvert expectations. Because we can never just have the X-Men being the X-Men. Because we can't have nice things.

It would be great if Apocalypse and Dark PhoeniX were just part of a bad dream sequence created by Mastermind, with Patrick Stewart waking up and seeing the ot cast for the last freaking time! And we get a montage of them doing X-Men stuff.

And the X door closes for the last time!

Some kind of reprise tying this into the DOFP ending would be the ideal way to close out the franchise. Of course, you'd have to have known it was the end when the film was made. Maybe there is good B-roll footage of the OT from DOFP that could be repurposed. I doubt there was any time or desire to film something new.

I don't think the rumoured ending messes with continuity...

...there is ~30 years between the end of DarkPh and the happy future of DoFP. I think it resonable to assume Jean could have returned in that time (either she is still alive or a resurrection;I mean it Jean Grey she needs atleats two resurrections).
Similarly, I think that enough time for Xavier to come back as headmaster. And continuity is futher maintained futher because Mystique wasn't shown in the future.
That being said (while I don't mind jeans fate being left ambiguous) I would love that the post credits scene would be her returning and embracing Scott. It may not be a spectacular scene for the final scene of this franchise, but for the film I think it would be great

Just give the film being made a good ending. Thats all you need. I don't remember a montage or anything for Jackman with Logan or Jackman in a post credit scene thanking the audience for 18 years.

You didn't need the OT cast coming out with flowers to give him as he bows. and then they bring out a gold hook which he then hangs up his claws on to symbolize its his last movie.

I just don't eXpect that much from Kinberg. He's probably one of the factors why they ditched the ot cast after Dofp and let the X-Men be killed off screen in Logan, because having the X-Men set in the past and decade jumping, film after film is just so eXciting!

I think they said it wasn't as good as DOFP but it was just above First Class apparently.
You’re quoting that one person as if it’s factual but cry foul when that first report of bad reactions from the first screening came out?

I'm quoting what i at least thought Cktopl33 had said in the past because carpenter82 had ASKED!. although it might have been The Original Bamfer that had said it after all.

You are just being over sensitive once again.

lol. the quote was "better than Apocalypse". not better than First class. Kinberg would wish! lol

Well the quote was actually "A notch above First Class but not quite up there with DoFP." to Quote the actual Quote.

I don't even know what that means.

Days of Future's Past is my favorite of the prequels and third in the franchise after X2 and Logan. Would be hard to top it but if better than Apocalypse and slightly better than First Class..I'll take it!

It's interesting how fans look back on First Class now. When it came out I remember a lot of people feeling like it was the best X-Men film ever made at that point. I thought it was better than everything except X2 personally.

Yeah as odd as the heroes picked for FC and the decision to make Raven a hero was, and the 60s setting, (which was a surprise and a welcomed one) FC is decent especially after x3 and origins. Kinberg couldn't make a better film than it. Let's face facts lol I do not for a second believe Kinberg was responsible for DoFP when Vaughan and everybody was involved. It's like Stan Lee being executive producer for the movies, in name only.

How do many fans look back on First Class now? I've always loved it and still do but it doesn't touch X2 and then Days of Future's Past came out and to me that's near X2 level. Eventually came Logan

I'm curious about fans looking back on X1 as it's always been very underrated to me. Remove the spinoffs and my ranking for the main series is..

X2: X-Men United
Days of Future's Past
First Class
X-Men
Apocalypse
Last Stand

It's usually in the middle of the pack. Similar to yourself it's generally ranked below X2.
Excluding Spinoffs mine would be:
1. Days of Future Past
2.X2
3. First Class
4. Apocalypse
5. X-Men
6. The Last Stand

For me

X-Men DoFP Rogue Cut
X2
X Men
FC
X3
Apocalypse
