Honestly hate when I hear this because Storm always gets good action scenes. How about a storyline?

when I say that at least I want good action scenes, I mean to finally see the character using his powers more broadly and not just making some rays and wind (just like XMA), she always had "good" action scenes but mostly doing more of the same.
the powers of the character open space to create new things, but there was always a laziness of the team to innovate , after 20 years of franchise the most innovative scene of the character remains of a film made in 2003, this for me not is good, so hopefully DP really use their powers broadly.

I love storm like crazy, but she will just be a special effects draw in this movie with no story arc.
While I agree and want Storm to get more attention the arcs all surround Jean. Jean is the main character and everyone’s character and motivations will be around Jean. Based off of what we’ve heard so far about the amount of X-Men action it seems that they’ve actually shown very little of it promotion wise. We’ve only seen that one lighting shot of Storm and yet she has some pretty cool sequences. Compared to DoFP and Apocalypse where the action scenes were all shown in the trailer. They’re actually keeping things out of promotion this time. I’m impressed.

She's had an arc in X2,X3, and Apocalypse. I don't get your point.
While I don’t think Storm has ever had TRUE justice on screen, I don’t get that complaint either. She had a great arc and character development in the original trilogy and had a more thought out back story than Jean and Scott in Apocalypse. NO character in this franchise has been neutered more than Cyclops, so I don’t get why Storm’s treatment is always brought up.

I think why people bring it up because their is never no follow up. In X1 she said she was "Afraid" of humans, but why though? What happened to her for to be afraid? A quick line or several between her and Sen. Kelly (before he died) would have giving the viewers insight. Also in X1 and X2 we never see her or the Prof. have a direct conversation until X3 and even then most of the dialogue they had on the balcony (about her life in Africa) was cut. Then in X2 she tells Kurt she's angry but why is she angry? What happened between X1 and X2 that made her angry? Is she angry because she lost her parents at a early age, had to grow up on the streets? Or is she angry because in Africa she was treated as a goddess and then experienced prejudice when she came to America? Once again a quick follow up to what she said would have given us more insight into who she is. I personally hate that she was "angry" in X2 because that's a stereotype of black woman they are always "angry." The conversation about faith with Kurt was alright but it could've been better like she could have asked Kurt "how did you find faith" or "how can having faith benefit mutant kind?" In X3 their were missed opportunities to develop her relationship with Jean but was never written or it was possibly cut. Apocalypse could have tied her "fear" and "anger" into her personal story line but they did not and the scene she had with Charles where she gave us insight into her life they chose to cut. In short we have character moments for Storm however they were never fully developed into arcs at the conclusion of the movie.

To say that Storm has ever had a character arc in this series is being extremely generous. Maybe X2, at a push, but none of these films have given her any real opportunities for change.

Is there a Lounge in this sub-forum (or a general discussion thread) ?

Storm throughout the years:

X-men: We get a sense that Storm is one of the few seasoned, active X-men. It's really Cyclops and Storm at the start of the film (Jean doesn't go on missions until the end). Her introduction with the snowstorm is fantastic and really fitting for this iconic character. Cyclops and Storm appear well-trained and confident. There's no shortage of action scenes for Storm between Sabretooh at the train station and her fight with Toad being the 2001 equivalent of a huge unleashing of power. Berry's accent problem is well known here, but she also plays the character as being timid. Her notable character moments include telling Kelly that she's afraid of humans and telling Wolverine that it's better to be on a side than not at all. There's a lot we don't know about her, including why she joined the X-men, who her friends are, what her personality is (this is a big one). I'm not sure if Berry's timidness was a failure to perform quiet confidence.

X2: Storm upgrades to a *slightly* better wig and gets to go on a mission with Jean and has character moments with Nightcrawler. Again, there is no shortage of action from Storm - this movie showcases lightning, tornadoes, and a blizzard (the latter being the what stops Dark Cerebro). Storm is still far away from the grandeur of her comic book counterpart - she doesn't fly or demand attention when speaking - but she is still an entity in the film. She tells Nightcrawler that she's angry, but we don't see her acting very mad. Nightcrawler and Storm work together to save Xavier in a way that compliments how she has learned to temper anger with faith. It's a bit of a random and arbitrary arc but it starts and ends nicely (though far from her comic book counterpart who has played important ceremonial/religious roles in her community). I also got a sense of how much she cares for the students when saving them from Stryker's base.

X-men: The Last Stand: Storm finally fully transforms into Halle Berry. There's not a lot that feels like Storm in this movie, even if Berry fought for a more important role. Her ramblings about the cure (in which she never accounts for how she passes as human) are a departure from Storm's wisdom in the comics. She is the field leader in the movie, but doesn't really play an important role in things like decision making. She's cold to Jean and the two never interact. She delivers Xavier's eulogy in a scene that feels so much like *acting* and becomes headmistress, which I never really thought was a Storm thing to do. We don't learn anything new about Storm and see more lightning. Her feud with Callisto was botched. It's nice to see her as headmistress at the end but really who cares since there was no X4.

X-men: Days of Future Past: Berry returns as an older Storm, who frankly looks the best she's ever looked even if she doesn't look like *Storm* much. She has an impressive display of powers but she still feels held back given that this movie came out much after 2001. Her death provides the shock audiences needed to experience in order to feel how desperate the situation is. Her role feels like an homage to the glory of a character we really haven't seen yet. She doesn't say anything meaningful or interesting.

X-men Apocalypse: Storm got name-dropped by Logan in DOFP as someone important for Xavier to recruit (name-dropped as Storm and not Ororo, indicating a lot about her characterization over 15 years). Using Egypt as a setting created the perfect opportunity to see more of Storm's background and we do see her as a thief. Knowing that Logan told Xavier about Storm, it would make sense to see her recruited as an X-man. Storm's role could have been more central as the figure who brings Xavier (and his X-men) to Apocalypse. Instead, Apocalypse recruits Storm as his Horseman, turns her hair white, and essentially silences her. Storm kinda hangs around at the end, but no one really seems to care about her. She doesn't even get a moment with her hero Mystique, which is the only crumb of an arc she had.

Dark Phoenix: Probably a special effect again.

I like the new character posters but just wish they didn't all have the same tag line of "Every Hero Has A Dark Side"

It’s funny how they keep casting short guys for the role of Cyclops, LOL. Isn’t James shorter than Famke who’s like 5’11 in the OT? But I’m short a guy (5’6) so I’m a stick up for Tye. It’s hard standing next to tall people.
