Dark Phoenix X-Men: Dark Phoenix News and Speculation Thread - - - - - - Part 15

fox is hilarious I seen a promo that looks like what marvel did in the culmination of the MCU with endgame

no buddy you don't get to do that now lolololol you haven't earned our trust like MCU did so plz with that BS

This is so eye rolling. The franchise jump started the modern era of superhero movies and has been making films twice as long as the MCU. It’s had ups and downs but has definitely left it’s mark in history within the genre. And as everyone else has stated, Disney’s been doing the marketing so...

Yeah this franchise jump started the modern era of superhero films... but where are the cast that started this? nowhere in Dark PhoeniX. So much for being nostalgic when foX neglected the cast that started the franchise eXcept for two people. And I don't care who's marketing this now, Disney/Fox or whoever, its still a foX product and there's no one from the original trilogy that will appear in this film to make things full circle. The other franchise managed to represent at least 1 cast member from all 22 films, and it really felt like a culmination of a franchise like they were saying. FoX's Dark PhoeniX? nope. Its just gonna be the First Class/Apocalypse cast getting their final hurrah because Disney got the film rights and the plans of the producers of this franchise are now canceled and not by their own decision but by Disney. So its really not the same, and I'm not falling for the nostalgia marketing.

Anyone know where I can get an X-Men T-shirt similar to the Dark Phoenix uniforms with the big yellow X in the chest? I was hoping hot-topic would sell them?

I'm still treating them as fox since this movie was done under that banner so Disney marketing genius is noted but nah man this franchise doesn't deserve it IMO of course

apologies since this was already discussed but it's first time I've seen it so came in here to share my opinion I'll leave you guys to it

enjoy last stand 2.0

Exactly

foX was probably planning a sequel for Dark Phoenix for a 2021 or 2022 release, especially if Sophie and the other younger cast members signed a 3 film deal. But foX and company weren't given by Disney, time to make a farewell movie. So to me, this franchise is gonna end abruptly like the Tasm/Raimi films, but for a different ŕeason.

Personally speaking, if they wanted me to get into the nostalgia train, they shouldn't have abandoned the cast that started this franchise. Also Its easy to compile clips from the previous films.

I don't understand how this has been "built up" or how "it's all led to this" like the marketing has been pushing. This has nothing to do with the original saga/cast, the Phoenix has not been substantially built up in any meaningful way. They are trying to make this movie the "Endgame" of the Fox franchise. And while I understand the logistics of why, thematically -- it makes no sense. It's not really a culmination of anything, no seeds have been sown, nothing has been built to this movie. It feels less like an epic conclusion/goodbye and more of an abrupt ending repackaged as one.

Well I guess if its the nostalgia marketing works, then good for them. But us in the forums, know they didnt intend this to be the final film.

Though its still end of the era. No more fox Marvel movies!

The fact they are heavily relying on the original trilogy cast - just look at the EW special cover - speaks volumes about how they know this prequel cast don’t have big appeal.

And yet none of the OT cast are in this film at all.

And we are seeing a story where the X-Men are torn apart by Jean’s descent into darkness when we haven’t really seen this team of X-Men operating together at all. There’s too much missing in the story.

It’s all basically Kinberg saying “See? X3 wasn’t my fault.”

Does the production actually think this shot should be showcased in ads and trailers? Does anyone here think this looks good? The VF/X of this movie is so muddied. It’s Apocalypse all over again but at least that movie didn’t get the benefit of releasing 20 months after Principal Photography wrapped.

That's the most frustrating thing. They werent even the X-Men in Apoc until the last 5 minutes. This movie feels so contrived, so uneventful and so unearned. They're asking us to care about a Jean and an X-Men we know nothing about. They're asking us to get emotionally invested in a character's downfall that we don't care about. They're trying to make this the X-Men's "Greek tragedy" but it doesn't mean anything because it has no merit, they haven't done or laid out any groundwork FOR it to mean something. Not to the underdeveloped X-Men nor to the audience.

The Phoenix Saga should have as much hype and traction as Avengers: Endgame. It's the end all to be all X-Men story and one of the most iconic stories in Marvel history. But here we are, 13 years later and nobody is excited for this movie. It's tracking to underperform

What's with the armpit flames FX? Did her deodorant catch fire, lol?

Both X3 and Dofp felt like had big marketing.
curiously the biggest X-Men movies to date (with the biggest cast).

this movie?....... absolutely nothing about this movie feels big or "an event".
no surprised the predictions are that low (even if final numbers get an increase)
