Dark Phoenix X-Men: Dark Phoenix News and Speculation Thread - - - - - - Part 15

Does anyone have a breakdown of which scenes correspond to tracks on the DP soundtrack? I'm listening to it as I do some writing for work and really think it's stellar.

TLS also had a great soundtrack. Time really is cyclical isn't it?

There was a time I was super excited to see an easter egg of Hank McCoy talking on TV, or a little girl phasing through walls, or an asian one with yellow coat. Not anymore.

It's not the early 2000's anymore, except in the filmmakers mentality.

That was a considerably more involved cameo than "the name Hank McCoy onscreen" or any of those others. She's sporting a fairly accurate comics look and performing at an X-Men party.

As cameos go, that was pretty cool.

Hopefully Halston Sage gets another chance like Ryan Reynolds, although he was under Fox. I imagine though that Disney would either get one of their own Disney stars or get someone much bigger who is also a pop star.

But he’s not. There’s no reason why I should see Bryan at the Abbey in West Hollywood when he was supposed to be on set..in Montreal. There’s no reason why male adult “actors” are appearing in the special features of DoFP taking tours. There’s no reason why he was focused on shielding Kevin Spacey in Hawaii during that fallout instead of his own job.

He got fired from Bohemain Rhapsody for doing the exact same thing.
wait what lol. Sean Cody is shook

The lesson from Apocalypse is to not rely on that film's writer to direct your next movie. But this is Fox, so.

Hold the phone there my friend...

This is from the exact same article you linked to. It still says it made $107 million despite the headline saying that it made $140. Looks like they made a mistake and need to do a correction. I don't see any other reliable site saying it did $140m. We also have the actual opening weekend from the Middle Kingdom which actually earned 32.1 million -- that's slightly less than even its domestic opening. And a massive decline from Apocalypse's 59 million that it made in that region.
The $140Mil number is from $107 Overseas + $33 Domestic.

Still a far cry from the $170Mil forecast by the same Hollywood trades, even when they knew the movie was getting destroyed by critics. Apocalypse made $185Mil from a sampling of the same markets.

Fox’s biggest mistake was potentially thinking Singer was the main issue and letting Kinberg swoop in to save the franchise. With the backing of someone like Jenifer Lawrence, I’m sure it would have been a no brainer for them.

I remember Pierre Fitch was on set for DoFP once I was just like... what?

Bryan is a messy queen. She thought no one would notice. Pierre wasn’t the only one. There were a few Corbin Fisher guys in there, particularly in that kitchen set.

No lies detected here.

Are you sure you're on the right side? The only other person who 'believes' Singer was on set the whole time is our resident flat-earther GuestStar...

Where is that guy anyway? Depite being one of the most active members of these X-Boards, he has been quite silent ever since the reviews hit

Totally agree,Kinberg is not an artist.

Probably the same place where all the FFINO defenders went after Fant4stic came out. :o

Weren't they told by Disney that she COULDN'T be Lilandra, as it was a case of 'in name only' by that point?

Also, Inner Circle were ruled out because they are already in Gifted. Not that this franchise normally cares about duplication...

Disney didn’t buy Fox at that point.

I dont even understand why jLaw pushed Kinberg to direct another Xfilm after the she basically got Singer fired.

I mean she didnt exactly bring her A game performance and gets killed early on. She looked pretty much identical to her apocalypse role if not worse so god knows what urged her to think life under Kinberg direction would be better

Kinberg was clearly convinced the only way to get the film right was to do everything - the writing and directing.

But it just didn't work.

Having to reduce the project from two instalments to one, then having to reshoot the third act because of poor testing cannot have been easy. The production dramas on this seem horrific, but probably only because the film didn't survive them to become a success. Chastain must have been exasperated to say the least.

What a sorry mess this franchise has ended in. It's truly sad to see.

I think that if he wasn’t eager to direct, and if him not directing wasn’t a deal breaker for the likes of JLaw who Fox insisted on, his two parter scripts would have been used and we would have just not gotten the 2nd part of the saga.

I heard that they were suppose to be filmed back to back.

Fresh writers and a fresh director should have been sought after to revitalize this franchise. That's what I always said. Unfortunately Fox doesn't. get. it. People always said the studio had become savvy with comic book movies after Rothman left, but no, they really weren't.
