Seems like some do.

The New Mutants trailer drops and out comes the ''where's the costumes and super powers'' crowd.

But that doesn't mean they prefer those things over characters and story. If the IW trailer has RDJ naked my first comment after I see it will be 'where's RDJ's shorts'! That doesn't mean I care more about RDJ's shorts than the characters and story of IW.

boone made it clear for some time there wouldn't be costumes in new mutants.
but people were like suddenly it's a crime and surprise.

at least come april reaction to new mutants online won't be surprised.

I think you're misinterpreting what I'm trying to get across.

What I'm saying is that some are looking at Negasonic Teenage Warhead's new costume in the Deadpool teaser and saying ''where's that costume in the New Mutants trailer?''.

Somethings have to take time and are earned or built up to.

Crazy how out all of characters, Negasonic got to wear a costume like that when in the comics, she's a freaking villain that was killed off early. Meanwhile, the iconic yellow and black costumes of the New Mutants are nowhere to be seen in their own fil m. Fox is really stepping out of the box.

Costumes are part of the whole package. So if Superman is in everyday clothes for the entire film, people wouldn't complain. Same thing goes to superheroes/characters who wear a costume in the comics.

I get what fans are upset about or are puzzled about, but I can see what Boone is trying to achieve with New Mutants.

Also, they need more material for their streaming service, owning Fox films/TV and Fx is huge. The distribution rights alone is a big deal. While their other franchises like Alien, Die Hard, Alvin/Chipmunks, Ice Age, Diary of Wimpy Kid might be done but I can see some of them being utilized in theme parks and rides like Night at the Museum, Rio and Kingsman. They are already developing Avatar's theme park which makes distributing the Avatar films fitting.

Some specialists are saying that a deal benefits both of them. In the Forbes article it's speculated that if other studios buy a few franchises in side deals, like Planet of the Apes, Die Hard, Alien, etc, that would reduce the price for the remaining stuff. We'll see.

I probably was misinterpreting to an extent but also just wanted to get a post in about RDJ's shorts. ;) I loved NTW's costume and I don't mind them not having costumes at the beginning of New Mutants. But if they never have costumes or at least a clearer mutant identity then it would be a bit too detached from X-Men for me. That's not to say I wouldn't enjoy it a lot. I just wouldn't feel as linked to it as I do to other comic book properties. I'm glad they're trying a new direction though.

I know what you mean.

I'd love to see them in costume too, and hopefully they will at some point in the future. I just think there's slight hesitance on Fox's part to throw people in the yellow costumes because the general audience will find it hard to accept or see them as an X-Men rip-off, even though it's its own thing.

He wants to reinvent New Mutants as horror, when he is mostly likely trying to pay homage to his favorite horror films. How about he prioritized what the source material is about first before his personal desires.

They should sell Alvin and the Chipmunks to Sony. :o Though I think it can be as marketable and good as a Pixar film with a good creative team. Crazy, I forgot Apes, that'd be a nice addition to them and their theme parks.

I'm not going to say it looks perfect or it's 100% faithful, but I'm going to give it a try because, to me, it looks different to anything we've seen in the X-Men movies before, I like horror and I'm bored of the main series.

Because the main series don't feel like the X-Men in the comics especially when you have Jubilee as an extra and Psylocke and Angel as 1 dimensional villains. And oh Peter, Erik and Raven have Importance than the actual X-Men. Its not like Fox has portrayed the X-Men so well that they need to change it up for the New Mutants.

I know what you mean.

But New Mutants are X-Men rip off. They are the Young Justice to Justice League and Young Avengers to Avengers. They are X-Men Jr. Young mutants that could someday join the X-Men. But they already missed the premise of the New Mutants in the comics. Fro. The trailer, it looks like a bunch of kids being experimented and I guess they would just join forces to escape.

When I say rip-off, I meant in a bad way, like they would see it as a joke or a poor man's version of the X-Men.

I honestly don't care if they call them rip offs, they are X-Men wannabes anyway. Why take who they are/what they are in the comics just cause the public would view them as X-Men rip offs and why even adapt New Mutants in the first place if they have that perception anyway. Also Any team could be a X-Men rip off if it consists of mutants. Anyway, like I said in the past, New Mutants are more into adventures than saving the world/mutant population - that could easily separate them from the X-Men. While X-Force and X-Factor have something else too that separate them from the X-Men.

doing new mutants as horror film actuly has predendence you in actula new mutants comic book issues.

It wouldn't matter I thought. Wouldn't rights automatically revert? They aren't trsnsferble

I hope that's the case. Someone, please buy Fox now asap! So Feige could start setting up Marvel's X-Men.:sly: An early Xmas present for X-Men fans who read the comics and wants the team to be adapted faithfully.:woot:

Soooo I think there's a thread/section dedicated to buyout/merger talk. :)

Oh right, I thought it was just part of trying to throw something different at us, a little bit of a shock to fans. Although maybe it’s more to do with the above. If it was done more confidently to be different and surprise, I think it worked in a mostly positive way. I just want them to develop and at some point in future show more obvious mutant/X-Men characteristics, which could also possibly involve costumes. I’m quite happy for them to start off as a mystery.

There is this interesting Forbes article from 3 days ago: Why A Blockbuster Deal Between Disney And 20th Century Fox Is Bound To Happen

He is a man. And white.

I just don't seewhy some people would want for Fox to go to Comcast. With Disney acquiringthem, mostly likely the X-Men would be featured in a lot of merchandise, cartoons and videogames again and who knows if we would get a brand X-Men game after a decade!

So it isn't just about Marvel doing their own X-Men films, but X-Men would be utilized more in other forms of media. So its a bigger win for the fans.

Comcast is a way better fit for FOX than Disney.

Comcast owns Universal Pictures right?. They have some pretty big franchises already...shame about their Dark Universe franchise. I do see why they are interested in FOX.

Not as many As Disney. Jurassic Park, Insidious, Purge and Fast/Furious are their only active live action franchises. Fifty Shades is ending next year and we all know how good it is. Pitch Perfect will end this year. Bourne has ran its course. Illumination is no Pixar. Dark Universe is a failure. Between Disney and Universal, its clear who's the stronger studio.

I figured you'd be happy about Comcast

After how Universal handled Hulk, Namor and Luke Cage, nope. Universal isn't even a better studio than Fox IMO.
