We've got a new (and yet, also old) director officially attached to this property, so we now can look forward at things from his creative perspective. We know Bryan's style and his often brilliant--if not sometimes unconventional--casting choices of the past.

So feel free to post your wishlist of new "younglings"--and their mutant teachers--here for X-Men Origins: First Class.

omgomgomg

i'm excited to be an x-men fan again.

i'll try and think.

also HAI LS!

Hello Flavio. It shooould be a reunion of sorts for many of the original board members once word spreads on Bryan's return. I hope you have been well buddy.

At any rate, I'm not going to post my actor/actress choices just yet because I want to think about it. But I will list the characters that I believe should have a presence in the film. This will be based on the set-up from Bryan's first X-Men film as well the need to flesh out some additional mutant relationships:

Professor Xavier
Emma Frost (after seeing Avatar this weekend I would still embrace Bryan's original idea of casting Sigourney Weaver in this role--it's just...unexpected).
Cyclops
Jean Grey
Storm (only because she is referenced in the first X-Men film as being an original student)
Beast

Now, here's where things get kinda sticky. Because of FOX's greed to cast every tom, dick and harry in X3, a number of classic X-Men that should be in this film cannot be. For example, according to the comic timeline, Angel and Ice-Man are original members of the X-Men, but they wouldn't even be born according to the continuity of this movie franchise's timeline.

And this is where not sticking to the comics can come back and bite you in the ass later. And ironically enough, the decisions to cast Ice-Man, etc. as teens in school under the tutelage of an adult Storm, Charles, Jean and Scott were made by Bryan, so it will be interesting to see how he works around this absence.

Someone mentioned Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Cyclops earlier, and i think he'd be a great choice. The rest I need to think about.

i don't want Emma in this 2 woman is a enough i think it should be

Cyclops
Beast
Storm
Jean Grey
Banshee - since we cant have angel or iceman

Ooh Banshee. Melikes...melikes!

I see Emma as an older teacher a la Xavier, not a peer of the students. She'd be like a stay-at-home mom when the kids go out to play with the sentinels and such. :p

I love JGL. One of my favorite actors out today. I'm happy hes getting recognition for 500 Days of Summer

But I dont like him as Cyclops

Joseph Gordon-Levitt would be a great choice for Cyclops.

Back when X-Men Origins: Magneto was a possibility, someone suggested Daniel Craig as a young Magneto. I think that could work.

While I'm disappointed that Angel and Iceman can't be involved, because the entire group has a great dynamic in the comics, I actually think it might be for the better. They're just a very homogeneous group, and there's no room for diversity, which kind of goes against some of X-men's themes.

I'm not against Gambit or Emma being involved. I'd rather them NOT be X-men, but maybe part of the threat or some other actor in the story. Emma Frost could maybe start as an ally or something, and then we can see her become involved in the Hellfire club... for example.

I think Banshee, like other people have pointed out, would make a lot of sense and I would be happy with that. I was also thinking about if a member of New Mutants could maybe be the fifth member... like Cannonball perhaps. That's not very faithful, and I don't know how I'd feel about it, but it's a suggestion.

As for casting... I have no idea, but I can't wait until casting announcements start to happen. I'm very excited!

It's amazing how an announcement of a director can rejuvenate my love for this franchise. I'm with Flavio, I'm excited to be an x-men fan again.

Anyway, I suppose it depends on how old the first class will be. Will we see them as 16-18 year olds? Or, will we see them as young adults in their 20's?

The X-Men are in there 30's at the start of X1.

Lets say we see the X-Men in their 20's. I'd definitely go with Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Scott, and Olivia Wilde as Jean Grey.

Patrick Wilson could pull off a young Kelsey Grammer too.

AnnaLynne McCord for Emma Frost

However, if they are going younger, then the same Scott and Emma from XMO:W, and Haley Ramm as Jean.

Also, can we please get a DARK-SKINNED Storm please? Not a biracial one (no offense Halle). We need to see more of a striking contrast between the white hair and skin tone FOX. :funny:

Love Daniel Craig - just saw him in a play with Hugh Jackman a few weeks ago - he'd be an interesting choice for a younger Magneto. Although he's 41 now, so that might not work if they're intending for the him and Xavier to be in their 20s.

Oooh, Patrick Wilson as Beast would be quite cool.

How about Zoe Saldana as Storm? She was terrific in Star Trek (I haven't seen Avatar yet).

I would like unknown actors.

we'd get into their roles more, I think.

Zoe would be an inspired choice--she was brilliant in Avatar as well...this has been a good year for her.

I'm all for some unknowns, but we will need star power here if Wolverine is (hopefully) gonna be absent. Lack of star power can hurt films like these...just compare the Fantastic Four films versus, say, Iron Man.

The problem with unknown actors is that it's Fox. In the X-Films the bigger actors got the better roles most of the time.

Is anyone opposed to Cannon being in the film? I dont know I just always thought that his powers would look cool on screen

Ashley Greene? Great lets have all the twilight fans come cheering this on. Mutants the new sparkly vampires!

talk of Twilight actors I dont think that Robert PAttison would be a bad Quicksilver
