Days of Future Past X-Men Origins: First Class--Post Your Casting Choices Here

Let's not hype Fassbender up too much. Looking at his schedule of upcoming films, it's pretty unlikely that he'll have time to squeeze in such a movie..

Fassbender and McAvoy, as a young Eric and Charles would actually make me want to see this movie! Wow, what am i going to do with all this remaining skepticism.

I could see Jim Cavizel as a young, charismatic Magneto.

Whats with the Fassbender love? I get that he's a nice guy but he seems to be suggested for every comic book movie role. He's the new Johnny Depp.

Fassbender should play the younger version of Magneto and work with Vaughn, instead of being the villain in the high school musical Twilight version of Spidey! LOL

Fassbender as Magneto....EASILY!

LOL. So ironic. About 7-8 years ago, Caviezel was the one being touted across CB message boards to be cast in every other movie.

Looks like not much has changed. :p I enjoy Caviezel as an actor, but I really think that the actor for Magneto should be an authentic non-American. :D I can only see Caviezel making an interesting Morph. Using the character of Morph to be on the first team and actually keeping true to the storyline of him being the first X-Man to die could really make for an interesting turn. Of course Caviezel is a lot older than McAvoy...

and I, personally never even heard of Fassbender until a few weeks ago and even I was on the fence about him being a good choice for anyone.

They look nothing alike...

McKellan has a fatter nose, more defined check bones and a rounder chin, where as Jesus over there has the traditional G.I.Joe face, straight nose, little definition, you could essentially say he could play any character because he has a non-profile face. He is the everyman.

Best way to cast a young magneto, look at McKellan when he was young and find an actor who matches that, personally i think there is one who looks like a younger mckellan

Anton Yelchin

Yeah, and McAvoy is just a dead ringer for a young Patrick Stewart! :o

I don't mind if they don't look that much alike. For me, I just don't feel comfortable with an American playing Magneto.. :p

Love Yelchin, but no to him as Magneto.

If there is a teenage mystique in this film as part of the class I think AnnaLynne MCCord would be good in the role.

I'd love her for Mystique or Emma. :yay:

Hmmm I will actually go ahead and co-sign this one; little Miss 90210 here would work as an Emma too, as mentioned above by another poster. I like her and Dianna Agron from Glee.

Anyone can play mystique with those make up on. Even Rebecca can reprise her role. However a really young Mystique being killed by her parents but was rescued and nurtured by Erik.

Wouldnt it be cool if Emma was the one who created helmet for Erik in this movie ?

Well, mention of what it would take to repel Cerebro/telepathic attacks and/or the material necessary for such a helmet should definitely be mentioned, but it was clear that X1 was the first time Magneto utilized such a helmet against Xavier. Also, in X1, Xavier realizes that Magneto's helmet was shielding his attacks, but he still wasn't sure how or what exactly is in the helmet.

Sure, Xavier knew Magneto was up to no good prior to X1, but he's still had some trouble tracking him at any given time. Maybe everything else leading up to the Liberty Island incident was small stuff and there wasn't a need to keep constant tabs on him all the time. I guess also at this point, Magneto figured that now was the time not to take any chances and so he finally had something just in time to keep his real objectives hidden from Xavier.

This bothers me in X1, where Charles was blocked from reading Erik's thoughts and plans with the helmet. However he could still read Mystique or Toad. After all they know about his plans too.

Well, yeah and he did and he admitted that he figured it out, but only after Magneto already succeeded with capturing Rogue. He can use Cerebro to find them I suppose (which is how they found Sabretooth/Wolverine/Rogue I guess), but he can't enter their thoughts unless they're in a certain range. It can be interpreted from how Magneto operates, Toad, Mystique, and Sabretooth are on a need-to-know basis with his plans. So, they probably didn't know a whole lot more than what he wanted them to know at a given moment.

It's also been agreed that mutants in Magneto's hideout can't be tracked/located with Cerebro either, so I guess that makes it harder too.

I always assumed Magneto's helmet was basically just a "anti" Cerebro. Since Xavier mentioned that Magneto helped him build Cerebro, then Mags knows how the machine amplifies Xavier's mind. The helmet basically did the reverse.

Well yeah...I'm just wondering about the details about how and where Xavier and Magneto came across such technology..

As for the technology, there are several options....

In the comics, Mr Fantastic/Reed Richards provided the X-Men's 'unstable molecule' costumes. Maybe he provided much more than that. Could be a great chance for a crossover cameo.

In X2, Stark Enterprises were the makers of Magneto's prison, I'm trying to remember where i read this and where it could be seen. I imagine there's close to zero chance of a crossover with Iron Man on screen, unfortunately, even though it would be great to see Howard Stark or Tony Stark appear.

Some of the X-Men's tech comes from the Shi'ar. I doubt we'll see this alien race in the movies, unless they can somehow be woven into Xavier's backstory...somehow seems unlikely.

We also have a mutant with powers of invention (Forge) and others who are technopathic (communicate with and control technology) like the kid who flipped TV channels in X2.
