Ant-Man Yellowjacket

As both a Marvel and DC fan, I have to say that I feel bittersweet about Stoll's casting.

On the one hand I'm glad that Marvel scooped him up, but on the other I really thought he was perfect for Lex Luthor.

The teaser image just hammered this home.

That Yellowjacket design makes me want to vomit but I'm holding back as much emotion as possible until I see the actual film or maybe enough trailer material.

I think the design is quite simply awesome, and way better than the comic book version. I can't wait to see it on the big screen.

As a huge YJ fan, I think the movie design absolutely sucks to high heaven.

So, going on the "best to say nothing at all" philosophy I think a lot of people just cringe and try on focus on the things in this movie that won't suck.

So you guys seriously think the movie suit for Yellow Jacket is awful?

I can't stop laughing. I know that you guys are fans, but step back a little bit.

Stoll looks like a boss.

Feige said when he gets his hands on Pym particles and suits up he causes havoc.

I agree he looks badass there. Although, once again, there's nothing barring him from being Lex Luthor. The only thing that would be awkward is taking another MCU role. The reason he's not Luthor is WB decided to go a different route with their casting decision (for better or worse).

The only real thing I can see is not wanting the extra limbs. It's drawing from the Eric O'Grady suit, which is fine with me, but I can see not wanting that. With those gone, it looks a little more traditional, while still looking sleek and badass.

Entertainment Weekly seems to believe that it will be Pym who suits up as Yellowjacket, and that he might be the true villain of the film.

I'd be incredibly surprised if that's the case. I doubt it.

They're probably going off info they have from the comics without bothering to take into account that the movies don't follow the comics. Remember all those news outlets who claimed Paul Rudd was playing Pym?

It's speculation based on the comics and... The lighting in a particular shot. That is how they've come to that conclusion

I mean, it wouldn't surprise me too much. It wouldn't be the first time Marvel used the mentor/villain schtick, or misdirection to lead us to believe that someone who isn't really the true villain IS the villain.

It could make sense within the story and based on what we've seen in the trailer. I don't really care either way.

That is why I would rather if they didn't do it because we have seen them do it before.

They already have Stoll as Cross and Jordi Mollà as Castillo as villains.

Michael Pena and Martin Donovan also have what has been described as important roles which may be villainous.

I will point out that the Marvel MO (GOTG notwithstanding) is to have a monologue from the villain in the trailer. Happened with the Mandarin, happened with Alexander Pierce (who was officially a good guy at that point).

Just sayin' ;)

It'd be an interesting twist. I do recall that way back when Michael Douglas was first cast it was said he'd be the villain of the film, but that was swept under the rug when he was revealed to be playing Hank Pym.

He'd certainly have the proper motives to be villainous. His company has been taken from him (Cross is running it), and Lang is led into a mission of revenge for Pym which paints Cross as the bad guy.

But who knows.

As much as I hate taking real YJ out of the modern mix the Agent Carter TV show gives me a glimmer of hope. It's a longshot but I have hope that maybe we can get a Pym/Yellowjacket TV show like Agent Carter. Retro YJ in the 1970's would be kick ass on Netflix.

And yes something along these lines...

would look far better than those Micronaut/IronSpidey arms. I do like the movie design helmet.

So the new EW says Cross has actually been Pym's pupil since he was a child. That's pretty interesting.

Entertainment Weekly's details on Yellowjacket (background/what he is up to)

"[Darren Cross] was this child prodigy that Hank Pym nurtured," said Corey Stoll

"He started to become aware of this fabled technology that can shrink people to half an inch. Now he's discovered his own version of that technology-which has a psychotic effect on people if they use it too much."

The twist will be that it was Pym who created the Yellowjacket suit, wore it and became psychotic after wearing it. He's desperate to get the suit back and uses Lang as a means to steal it back.

Ok, here is something I'll just throw out there

what if Pym's killed Janet under the aforementioned "psychotic affects"? And then maybe shield covered it up, as they were likely involved with the original ant man project. Maybe that's why him and Hope are estranged.

I'll admit, that'd take his character to a very dark place.

Yellowjacket mask looks like Bumblebee from transformers bay films
