Your Favorite Closing Shots

Ah the closing shot from the movie The Great Train Robbery, 1903!
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0000439/

Children of Men; just beautiful and gives the audience a great breather to feel satisfied and take in the whole film...

and then the credits playing over the sound of children playing...that whole movie is just great.

From Dusk Till Dawn.

The really enjoy the huge temple in the back of the 'Titty Twister'.

Sleepaway Camp

Finding out a chick has a dick is ALWAYS shocking and creepy.

Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, Inception, Toy Story 3, The Godfather III, Gladiator, Daredevil, Spider-Man, Prince of Egypt, Return of the King, The Prestige, there's gotta be more I'm missing.

BTW If we're doing Batman final shots, while TDK is king, nothing has topped this shot:

This is the first shot I thought of when I saw the title of this thread. I thought about linking to my post on it in the Batman '89: Scene by Scene, but that'd be way too self-promoting. That's a brilliant bit of iconography, though, the perfect final image for that film. And the final shot of Returns is a nice mirror to it.

Other favorites that come to mind right now:

Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2 (Again, great iconic send-off and a nice mirror to it in the sequel.)

Inception (It's kind of a cheap trick, an easy way for Nolan to toy with the audience, but I'm not complaining, because it works, and it fits. It definitely provokes conversation, and that's a wonderful thing.)

Jackie Brown (A really poignant moment, simply being with Jackie and truly feeling for her - and Max - as "Across 110th Street" is employed again very effectively.)

The Lion King (Circle of Life and all.)

The Evil Dead (I haven't looked through this whole thread yet, but this HAS to have come up a bunch of times already. Right?)

I'm sure there are more, but those are the ones that came to mind first.

I can't remember if it's the very final shot, but the part in The Prestige where it shows Jackman's dead clone.

The part in Se7en where Mills is being driven away with some totally blank look on his face.

You just can't do any better...

^^ Is that Silvarado, Young Guns, or some other Western?

I always thought that last shot of Casper was funny and creepy all at once.

I'm going to say I prefer the 1931 film. While it is not as "exciting" as the 1958 movie, Todd Browning, at least in the first 30 minutes, created a more tense, unnerving atmosphere.

But most of all for the amazing performances of Lugosi (my favorite Dracula) and Dwight Frye as Renfield. Renfield was the most interesting character in the book and is in all the movies he appears in. His absence in the 1958 film was sorely felt.

With that said, I do agree that the 1958 one had a better closing shot and the most satisfying ending ever in a Dracula movie.

However, if you ever watch the blu-ray or 2-disc edition of Coppola's Dracula (1992), be sure to watch the original ending that he shot before George Lucas gave him some (horrid) advice to change it. In the original ending there is no forelorn love after Mina kills Dracula she is free and walks out to the courtyard and she and the killers leave without any dialogue to religious music over a crucifix on the snowy court floor that begins to glow as Van Helsing is the last to cross it. That would have been a GREAT ending. Too bad Lucas got involved.

P.S. An amazing shot at the end of a vampire film, possibly the best, is the closing shot of Herzog's Nosferatu remake from 1979. But it is not on youtube, I'm afraid. :(

I love the 31 version, I just love the 58 version a little more. I consider Lee and Lugosi close as far as Dracula goes, but Cushing is so great as Van Helsing that their clash makes the movie. He's also by far the best Frankenstein too. As great as Bride of Frankenstein is, overall I prefer the Hammer Frankenstein series where the focus was on Frankenstein and not the creature.

The final line and closing shot to Todd Solondz' Happiness are pretty much.....amazing.

Magnolia

Claudia's smile, especially after those three incredible hours, could pick me up on any given day. The concept of not going through life alone, with someone who understands and cares deeply for you is presented beautifully. That stationary shot slowly zooming in on her face is just perfect.

i also like when some movie end with the eyes.like Vanilla sky or Avatar. like you woke up when the movie is finished ;)

Some have been mentioned, but...

Fight Club
Planet Of The Apes
The Birds
Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid
