Good for Zack I've always believed the guy would get far better critical response from smaller passion projects, so I'm delighted he's taking on something small and personal.

I don't believe he's very good at making superhero movies, but something like this seems to be absolutely in his wheelhouse. The guy has a style and narrative he wants to use and tell, and maybe that's better explored for him without the weight of DC comics on him.

I've never believed he's the right man for the DCEU, but am extremely interested and excited to see and support what he can do with original material that he has full control over. There's something fascinating about the way he sees character and story, and I want to see what he can do with it in a better setting for him.

Not many people say this but Snyder's Owl movie has amazing visuals.

I finally got around to watching this movie, it was the only one of Zack's I haven't seen because, well, owls...

And of course, I'm glad I did!! I love how uncompromising Zack is with his movies "Oh, you want a 'children's movie'?? Well, you're getting a Zack Snyder children's movie!!"; not shy away from basic things that other "talking animals" movies usually tend to shy away from, like the basic nature of food chain or the very violent nature of living in the wild, and it goes without saying that when it comes to visuals no one can touch him.

I'd say it's probably my least favorite of Zaddy's films, simply because of the subject matter, but still, that was and hour and a half well spent!!

Also made me curious, I never quite understood how you "direct" an animated movie, since isn't most of it done in computers anyways?? Is there actual cameras and filming involved?? I ask because Zack's style and I guess "camera work" is quite recognizable in this one; does anyone know??

It's like taking a screenshot. You're putting together the individual frames to make the film strip. Since there are 3D models of the characters and even the background, you can rotate around that space to shoot at different angles.

i've always wanted to see the owls of ga'hoole but for some reason haven't had a chance too.

i remember seeing the trailer and thinking how awesome it looked.

is it worth a purchase, Polux?

i'm much more into children's movies now that i have a kid of my own.

snyder's upcoming short film looks interesting - a period piece too!
