God damn auto-correct!

aww PJ, don't worry about making mistakes like that. :waa: It's okay to make those kind of mistakes. :highfive: so don't feel bad.

Yep, I figured out it was auto-correct but didn't see the word 'film'. I thought it was a mutation of AFAIK or something else!

I thought someone said he's making similar salaries with the next Wolverine film and Days Of Future Past. If that's true, then my coined term "continues to make" falls into play. If he's making less than $20M for the next two films then nevermind my comment.
For Wolverine, surely.

I guess I was confused about your comment because I highly doubt Jackman or RDJ make anything close to what they make in their respective franchises.

I dunno JP. If memory serves correctly, Halle reportedly made somewhere $12-15 million for X3 (I can't remember exactly right now). And we all know she was the second billed actress to Hugh, and I wanna say he got $20M for X3....so I don't think it'd be a stretch for him to get a $20M sized chunk of change for Days Of Future Past, especially if he has a role in both past and present.

I hope this announcement is Fox coming out with a coherent plan for this franchise. A whole batch of connected movies that build to an"event" DOFP/Avengers style blockbuster. Let the public know that they finally know what they're doing. A FC3, X4, X-spinoff, FF, that all build up to something big. Its the same formula Marvel went with and look how that turned out for them.

I wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't an announcement. This is Millar we're talking about. LOL

It'd be nice but...Marvel is waaaaay more sophisticated in its approach than FOX is. What you're suggesting requires careful mapping, planning and design. We have never, ever seen that kind of s*** from FOX. :funny:

One thing I don't see anyone mentioning is that an adult Franklin Richards was part of the DoFP story. Franklin being the child of Mr. Fantastic and Invisible Woman from the Fantastic Four. That said, here's how I see the DoFP movie playing out...

The events of the film will result in a modified timeline/reality. Some of the same FC cast will remain while some of the original trilogy characters will be recast and be part of the team. A whole new timeline that takes the best of both worlds. Think the Star Trek reboot. This way, we can get Cyclops, Beast, Jean Grey, and Iceman on one team.

For those wondering why there needs to be a reboot, here's a few lines of thought. The original trilogy basically used up all the main X-Men characters, many of whom were completely squandered. This pigeon-holed First Class, since it tried to follow the same continuity, into using some lackluster characters (all of Magneto's team). Even if they jump ahead a decade, there aren't many major characters they can play with who weren't already used in the original trilogy. Basically, they're running out of the A-list X-Men. A reboot (or call it whatever you want) is needed to allow them to continue making X-Men films with the major characters most people associate with the property.

They could make an X-Men 4 and try to focus on some of the younger characters, like Colossus and Kitty Pryde who weren't given much focus in the previous films. Maybe get Angel in there too. But major players like Cyclops and Jean Grey are missing. There will have to be a reboot at some point, whether it's 5 or 10 years down the road. A storyline involving time travel and alternate dimensions seems like a mighty fine way of shifting the property into a more streamlined story with the characters most people want to see. Would you rather use the instrument at hand (the time-traveling) to "fix" the quagmire, or years down the road, confuse audiences with an actual reboot film? Think the recent Star Trek movie. It used time travel to reboot continuity with a whole new cast.

I wouldn't be surprised if the end of DoFP results in a revised, all-star X-Men team in a new continuity. I also wouldn't be surprised if an end-credits scene hints at the Fantastic Four reboot. We met Franklin Richards during the future timeline. The end credits scene could should Reed Richards meeting Susan Storm, hinting at their eventual pairing to give birth to Franklin. A tease at the upcoming FF reboot.

Ironically, I don't think this will be the big reveal Fox has coming up. They'll want to surprise people with the ending of DoFP. I think their reveal will deal with casting/details for the FF reboot.

The thing that many users arent taking into account is:

If The Wolverine is a good success, Fox could even do a third film, the same with First Class, so....

do you really think Fox will do a reboot in the next five years and most important, to sign another actor to play Wolverine while Hugh Jackman is still hot?

No way! lol

As I said, we wont get a reboot on this decade. So Fox would still have 6 years to do more sequels with current casts.

We probably won't get a reboot this decade, but we will get one eventually. Unless you want not just Xavier but all the cast in wheelchairs... lol

If the Wolverine does the business of Origins did It also matches what Thor and Captain America did.The success of the Wolverine bodes well for Days of future Past.A full X-Men
film can do better than a solo Wolverine film see X2 and last Stand(even If It has a mixed reaction from fans of X-Men and X2 and critics)

Beyond Days of future Past are question marks of what they do for future.

The time travel aspects In DOFP may be for parts of The Last Stand and Origins to be retconned away for future films. Will there be a third first Class era film or will they focus on present.would they try to do another solo wolverine film or will they simply want to use any remaining use of Hugh Jackman In full X-Men sequels. Will they be doing films on
Spinoff characters like the New mutants,X-Force,and Deadpool as has been suggested.

New photos from the Wolverine show like first Class they are embracing more comic booky elements.Bryan Singer has both more time and more money than making X-Men and X2.

For those who want to keep bringing up failure of Jack the Giant slayer and the fact they didn't like Superman Returns.Well many are claiming Man of steel will be biggest hit of all time.Zack Snyder's last film Sucker punch bombed and you could also call Watchmen a bomb as well.

Director's don't stop making big films because they had a bomb or some don't like It.Steven Spielberg didn't quit because some online complained about last Indiana Jones
film.Hell even Brett Ratner Is still making movies.

No, please, lol

There will be a reboot one day, for sure, I guess most of us agree on that. But definetly not on this decade.

Maybe around 2021-23, when general audience will have forgotten a little bit about Hugh Jackman's Wolverine, Patrick Stewart and the rest of the crew.

I like your thinking. I also think it would be good if they used the time-travelling, time-warping story of DoFP to create a new team with the favourites in it, including some who were dead. I even wouldn't mind the return of Jean Grey as Phoenix (since the comics version was Phoenix for a long time before going into Dark Phoenix meltdown).

The big fan favourites we have already had include: Xavier, Jean, Scott, Storm, Wolverine, Iceman, Rogue, Angel, Gambit, Beast, Colossus, Nightcrawler, Havok, Banshee - plus villains Magneto, Mystique, Sabretooth, Juggernaut, Pyro, Toad, Emma Frost.

Those we haven't had: Psylocke (forget the X3 cameo), Polaris, Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, Sinister, Apocalypse.

They'll probably ditch Xavier (and Magneto) after DoFP, and Havok and Banshee may already be ditched. Not sure they can do much more with Nightcrawler either. Also, not sure they'll bring back Cyclops and Jean as team members. Emma Frost might be a better option (and would work well if Cyclops did return).

Cyclops, Nightcrawler and Gambit need a return, for real.

They are three of the biggest favourites, so Fox and Singer better have plans for them in the near future.
