In a bad way.

There were times during TDK where the score was blaring so loudly I had trouble hearing what the characters were saying.

Nolan's films are loud, and sometimes it's distracting for me.

the only moment where I had trouble understanding a character, and that wasn't because of the music, is the last part of Gordon's speech to Harvey in his office... man Gary can talk fast !!!:woot::huh:

just curious as to when, because I personally can't remember the music being that loud.

So I'm just interested where you had issues with it

A good example is the scene in TDK when Gordon meets Dent in his office to discuss taking down the banks. The speech levels are too low and the music smothers Gordon's lines.

Also, Saito's first lines at the start of Inception are impossible to hear, not just because of his accent.

.

Was there music in that scene?

Oldman's vocals must be on "super secret whisper" because until I got the DVD I had no clue what the man was saying. I didn't think it was cause of the score, it felt to me that Oldman was mumbling the lines, which was more than likely a problem with the mix.

The score picked up when Gordon said, "I don't get political points for being an idealist. I have to do the best I can with what I have."

I don't understand how i can understand Ken Watanabe or Bale growl while americans can't. I don't even have a proper grammar. :woot:
You understood him perfectly on the first listen? Every single word? I'm not ashamed to say I don't believe anyone that says this. :o

I'm always nervous talking about Watanabe, because I don't want my comments to be taken as racist.

But if I'm being frank, he was borderline unintelligible at times - even after multiple viewings.

TDK I had no problem with. In fact, apart from Bale's Bat voice, I wasn't aware anyone else had issues with the sound mix. Live and learn.

You really understood Gordon in harvey's office the first time?

I mean I find that amazing, it is the quietest thing I've EVER heard and rushed and mumbled.

Maybe it was just my theater then, but I could barely hear Gordon's monologue at the close of the film.

That was Oldman's delivery, nothing to do with the sound mixing (although I happened to understand it anyway!).

It's mostly the fault of the theater. Of the 4 times I saw the movie, twice I could barely hear anything. The other two were fine, but even then the balance was too even, not allowing the dialog to shine through as it should.

I've got to say that's amazing, cause people were leaning over in their chair trying to understand him during that scene. Way too quiet but, in no way a critical flaw for me in the film and then never happened again.

I had no idea what he was saying. Didn't actually find out until I watched it at home.

I heard exactly what he said the first time, however the person behind me kept asking the people around him what he said. I'll never forget that. :funny:

The end speech of TDK and a few other moments could be mixed better. Sometimes the music makes it hard to hear dialogue. I find it's more troublesome at home than I remember in the theaters.

I never had an issue with understanding dialogue before seeing TDKR prologue. Might have something to do with having my own private screenings where I control everything. I don't know.

you'll have to forgive how astounded I am but I saw the film maybe 6-9 times the first day all in different theaters and never understood him once then, or any of the other 16 times I saw it throughout the summer.

This speech of Gordon's, is it an extended version of what they filmed for TDK? Because we only got a few seconds of that. Will be interesting to see, and well done to anyone who said it could start with Dent's funeral, I know someone did.

Even with two viewings in theater there were several scenes where I had no clue what Watanabe was saying. That's not you being racist it's just pointing out his accent is a little rough around the edges.

It is the end of the speech that Gordon gives that they show to start it off. Which is an extension of TDK speech.

It quite possibly could be just a movie theater sound error, no?

Have to say im getting seriously excited to go see this prologue even tho its only 7 min. When I found out that OEB was only for tickets I got kind of upset but then figured I may as well grab some. Now reading all these reviews, etc and seeing that poster def has me jacked up for it. Plus Ive never been to an IMAX so should be fun.
