7.09 - Gemini - Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

Decent episode. Dont understand all of the belly-aching. (oh noeess!11!! it wasnt really Clark in the episode!! ) it's not like it wasnt Welling....

Cool twist with Bizarro, although I dont know why he would care about 'taking down" Lex? from what they established in the premiere, he'd just as soon go after him and kill him if he had issues with him.

I'm still not convinced that Jor-El didn't have something to do with Clark's imprisonment in the FOS. Either way Bizarro Clark is taking advantage of the situation "for the time being" but
He found out in "Bizarro" that taking Clark's life literally was hard to do when he couldn't physically overtake and destroy him so he has to enlist Brainiac for the long-term solution to getting rid of Clark.

His agenda was revealed to us from the beginning in "Phantom" and "Bizarro." He wants to take Clark's life literally and figuratively.

His first meeting with Clark at Reeves Dam:

Bizarro: “I took a little piece of your DNA, now I’m gonna take your life.”

Dialog with Clark in the forest (after knocking Clark through the damn wall and sending him flying):

Bizarro: “Hey, Clark! Did you ever wonder what would happen to all these humans if you weren’t here to play Savior ? I know you do.”

Clark: “You don’t know anything about me.”

Bizarro: “No, Clark. I know everything about you. I didn’t just borrow your DNA. I have all your memories, all your thoughts, every last twisted one of them. When I’m living your life, I won’t make the same mistakes.”

And then the last dialog with Clark before their climactic fight:

Bizarro: “You had the existence I could only dream of; every pleasure you disposed and you wasted. You don’t deserve this life Clark, but I do.”

This story arc was planned from the beginning.

Good question. But Lana herself revealed this to Bizzaro Clark in their first conversation. He was just listening and responded to what she was telling him. He has become a much more deadly foe since we last saw him. He's not just using his brute force; he's now cunning and deceiving.

It's going to be cool to see who first recognizes that its not the real Clark. As a story arc I think this whole scenario is very clever. I can't wait to see how Clark triumphs over Bizarro in the end and the effect this all has on him.

An eclipse of the sun as seen from Earth would have nothing to do with what's going on on Mars. The only thing that would is if one of Mars' moons passed in between Mars and the Sun, or if Zor-El was able to dampen the Sun's output of energy directly - the latter being a show of power that I seriously doubt he or anybody would be capable of.

Well I was just taking a guess based on what we've seen in the show and since this episode followed directly after the episode with the eclipse it seemed like the most logical conclusion. However, I am not an Astronomy Professor, my conclusions were drawn from a simple mind. :O

So I'm keeping a very open mind with this. (Avid and Melly's advice is finally sinking in. LOL)

You might have to hand me some of my own medicine, because the more I think about last night's episode the more disappointed I am and my mind isnt feeling very open. :csad:

Bizarro had like five minutes total. Clark 20 secs.

It's curious how the same episode can have a very different effect on people. I found it mostly boring and disappointing. :csad:

Sorry, but most fans enjoyed it, just go around some sites. If you get bored just because of Tom Welling's "limited" screentime, maybe you should learn to appreciate other characters more. "Gemini" was one of the best episodes of the season, I wonder which episodes did you like (if any at all). :whatever:

Quick question:

What happened to Bizarro's lower register?

Yeah, but Tom had 25. I can live with Biz having a bit more screentime in one episode, but only because I really like the actor playing him. ;)

This blows my mind on a weekly basis. Look at how extreme the opinions of any of the characters can be? Even Clark. How many times have you seen people call him a BDA? And he's our hero!

Perhaps he's just trying to find more stores of Kryptonite. Lex seems to be the go-to man for having vast quantities of that stuff, at least he did the last time Bizarro needed it. He is going to need it again if he's to keep up his disguise.

Thanks for writing all that dialog out, TWistim. It still makes me think there's a tragic element to this storyline for Bizarro.

Well, they do love their anvils, so I can see it being Lois, but then again, she didn't pick up the odd behavior the last time she encountered Bizarro and he groped her. Lex seems to be the most likely to recognize him since he knows of Bizarro more than any of them, having had actual conversation with him.

Carol's entitled to not like this episode on any basis she wants. You can disagree with her, but just because 'most fans enjoyed it' doesn't make her opinion any less valuable.

Quick question:

The machine broke? ;)
Actually, it makes sense that Biz would try and mimic Clark's voice as much as possible in front of his friends. Didn't he just use his big-boy voice to Clark last time?

I don't think Gemini was one of the best episodes of the season, in fact to me it was one of the worst, regardless of what other people think. If you enjoyed it and other people did, that's okay, I'm not telling you what you should like. I have many reasons to dislike this episode and to be bored by it, and my opinion is not based solely on Tom's screen time, by any means, but even if it were, it's my right to feel disappointed. After all Tom/Clark is the main reason I watch the show nowadays. I presume that you have your own reasons to watch and that's fine. I'm glad you do and I respect them. If you are offended by my not sharing them, please, feel free to put me on ignore. No hard feelings about that. Thank you.

Oh, and if you really want to know which episodes I liked this season, don't hesitate to pm me and I'll send the list to you with pleasure. :yay:

25 minutes? Really? I thought it was much less.

Oh, I like the actor a little bit too, :cwink: but even him couldn't make me completely happy this time.

Thank you so much, Serene! I really don't want to spoil the fun for anyone. :(

I was totaling up what you said for Clark (5 minutes) and Bizarro (20 minutes). :D

20 + 5 = 25 minutes of Tom.

Thank you so much, Serene! I really don't want to spoil the fun for anyone. :(

Nah. You're not at all.

I'm really sorry you didn't like "Gemini." It's much more fun to be excited about an episode, huh? I felt that way about "Blue" but I know lots of people liked it, too (including you :yay: ). I will have to say that after a little time passed and I re-watched "Blue" I could appreciate it more. It still didn't live up to my expectations re: Clark's Kryptonian heritage but I don't hate it now.

Just bringing this over from the Persona thread, since it relates to this episode.

Whenever I watch a Smallville episode first time around, my basic interest in the episode evolves around what Clark is up to, so if he's not on screen, then I grow extremely impatient having to sit through all of the other scenes just to get to his scenes.

Now I did just rewatch the episode, so I knew what to expect in terms of Clark (well in this case, Tom) time and I enjoyed the story that was going on between Lois/Lex/Grant/Chloe/Jimmy a heck of a lot more than I did last night.

However, I still was not happy with the Clark/Bizarro/Lana storyline, and that's because.... sniff, sniff..... :csad: it breaks my heart to see poor Clark trapped up in the FOS by whatever sadistic means got him there, and to see Bizarro running around assuming his life and being well received by Clark's loved ones and friends. It makes me sad to the point that it makes me mad. :csad:

And I have a question, was Clark trapped in ice or crystal. You would think that if it was ice that he could just break free, but if its crystal then I guess he's there under some Kryptonian technology.

Overall, I liked the episode. I wouldn't say it was one of the best of the season, but I enjoyed it. Bizarro's scheming is awesome. I knew he wasn't Clark, as i'd stumbled on some earlier spoilers. But the second they emphasized his flying up the staircase, that clenched it. Good stuff.

I found myself bored with all of the other stuff going on this episode. However I like that Grant is a clone, and not the real Julian.

Okay, I think I understand what you are saying more now. You have great empathy for Clark, very understandable.
I guess I'm just appeased by how intriguing I find Bizarro -particularly his desire to live Clark's life. I do look forward to Clark coming back to save the day though. I can't wait to see him confront Bizarro, and to see Clark's reaction which I think will be sympathetic to a degree.

Poor Clarksicle. :( ;)

LOL Heck in Smallville he can just put on a blindfold, spin around 10 times, and start walking and he'd be bound to stumble into some of it... :D

after this episode i more than ever want chloe gone. Lois just keeps on upstaging her and I know chloe is meant to be the 'relatable' character in the show but it seems to me they keep on going for the sympathy vote and just not winning with her

LOL! How many posts did that take, plus the PMs. :D

Glad I got my point across. Finally. :cwink:

Poor Clarksicle. :( ;)

So you think it was ice. It looked like a huge crystal.

Oh, I have no idea.

I just know that I see "Clarksicle' and I automatically think of licking.
 :hyper:

LOL! That one went right over my head.

Must be the wine deprivation, I can think of no other reason.

I never found Chloe relatable. She's got a computer for a brain and now can heal people. I wish I could do that. :csad:

I can totally relate to this...

It IS sad! :( But that's pretty funny... ;)

she's become willow without the adorable nerdiness

Great ending. I knew Bizarro would come back somehow, but I didnt think it would have been like that.
