7.09 - Gemini - Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

Whelp.... I updated Flash *and* I downloaded the latest version of IE. No dice. It keeps reloading the page and getting nowhere. What. The. Bleep? Seriously? What browser do they want people to use? Something for the Mac? [shudders] LOL :p

All kidding aside, what do you guys use? By "you guys," I'm asking the people who don't have any problems viewing vids on CW's homepage, 'cause IE freakin' 7 (ver. 7.0.5730.13), and the latest version of Flash aint doin' it for me. I'm in the US (Boston, MA - go Patriots), and I have a HP P4 2.53GHz with 512MB of RAM. It aint brand spankin' new, but it aint a dinosaur either. :whatever:

Firefox, baby.
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/

My primary browser is Netscrape, which is similar given the Mozilla base. Still, no dice. And I seriously doubt CW wants its visitors to use Firefox. Not that there's anything wrong with that browser, but the assumption would be they'd design their site with IE users in mind. Not that IE is amazing - gosh, IE sux canal water - but it is the most used browser on the I-Net. (Thank you Mr. Gates.) If I have problems, I default to IE for that reason. Again, only because most sites are designed to at *least* run with IE.

Anyhoo, I'm back to wondering WTF is up with the CW site. I e-mailed them, but I'd get better results by pissing into the wind. It's too bad Craig didn't let Trip publicly complain about CW's site in one of her past reviews. Something like that would get noticed.

*sigh*

So I'm not the only one who hates that stupid player? Good to know.

You're not alone. I hate it because it doesn't work. If it worked "clunky," I'd deal. But it doesn't work at all. That's just nuts. I would have no problem downloading a proprietary player either - assuming they were trying to avoid YouTube "piracy" or something like that - but it doesn't appear to even be that. There's no link (that I've been able to find?) to a player on their site.

Big picture: it doesn't matter at the end of the day. I'll still watch the episode(s). But you'd *think* they'd want to use their site to promote their programming to *all* US viewers, not just some of us. Ah well. :csad:

It works for me, but I *always* have to download their stupid "one time install" player...

I honestly don't know if it'll make a difference, but you should try d/ling the latest version of Firefox.

Try a different browser, I've never had a problem with the player at all after downloading the initial program. The video will prompt you to download the player automatically. Like Serene said, using Firefox may be the answer.

aHAH!!!!!!!!!!!! I *finally* figured out what it might be, and it was these two posts that clued me in:

Awesome!

Okay, listen up people!!! To EVERYBODY who's had a problem (in the US - 'cause I can't help the folks outside of the US) with not being able to see the videos on the CW site, this is what you need to do:

ALLOW THEIR FREAKIN' COOKIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's it. LMFAO!!! If you've denied acceptance of the "cwtv" cookie at one time, delete that sucker and start over. That should do it. The screen will automatically default to the "one time install" player. I'm kicking myself in the head (which is hard to do LOL) for not realizing that months ago. Gah!!!!!!

Val, I'm thinking your situation is that you downloaded the player initially, and then somewhere along the line you denied the cookie, so the program is making you "accept" it again every time you visit.

Thanks gang! I'm so glad I can finally watch these suckers.

Was doing a bit of site hopping, and came across this post from Clarksgal at Ksite.

Sprint clip is out for Gemini.

Lana is in the barn brushing a horse. Clark enters and says "Lana." She turns, saying "Clark! I was so worried!" and runs to hug him. She asks him if he has been in the FOS this whole time? He nods, and says "Time is so different there, I didn't realize how long had passed."

Lana asks Clark if he found Kara. Clark says there was nothing he could do, and that he thinks it's time he accepts that she's gone, and move on.

Lana says that as much as she missed Clark, being apart may have been good for them. She says she's had some time to evaluate her priorities, and she is going to drop her fixation on Lex and his activities.

Clark tells her that he's had some time to reflect too, and that he thinks he knows how they can get back on the same page. He tells her that he wants Lana to show him everything she has on Lex.

End of scene. This was as close to verbatim as I can remember, but I'm probably off a few words. In the past, Haroonie has been able to post the actual clip, so hopefully he (or someone else) will be able to do that here.

so does anyone think clark is bizarro? With that sprint clip^, I'm still lost. I wonder what his punishment was?

I dont think its Bizarro, but Clark does sound like he's a changed man. Maybe his time in the FOS has something to do with that. I'm interested to know how long he was gone for.

You have NO IDEA how frustrating the whole Sprint clip thing is for me..

I have Sprint, a brand new phone with pretty much every package you get (I think I can connect with Jor-freakin'-EL on this thing) but can I find the damn SV clips? NOooooooo!

Gah!

Anyway, I still say that doesn't sound like Clark. There's something else at play here. I can't imagine him encouraging the thing that he knows is so destructive to Lana - her desire for vengeance against Lex. Either it's Bizarro, who knows that Clark is otherwise occupied, or it's Brainiac.

Or, Clark knows that Lex's continued research into Kryptonian (which he revealed to Lana) has gotten too dangerously close? That seems a stretch though.

I am dying to see that scene though. Gee, you think they might actually.. oh, I dunno.. hug or kiss? Or maybe just a warm handshake. ;) :D

I know. I was with you when you first tried to get it. I know you have a spiffy phone but does it have video playback on it?

Good points. Once again my judgement is clouded by what I want to see happening as opposed to what could really be going on.

I think Brainiac is a more likely possibility than Bizarro.

Well it says they hug, but a kiss would be nice too. Although, if it is Brainiac then maybe that's why they only hug.

The only thing thats stopping me from thinking that its Brainiac is those images that we got for Persona. He doesnt look like he's operating at his full potential and I have a hard time believing that he could shape shift if he is so weak.

I can't remember if I got this newest phone before or after you were here, but yes, I get videos on it. I've looked at the Sprint Exclusive TV stuff, but SV isn't there. I wonder if they only show it for a specific period of time and I missed it already?

True. Hmm.. I just don't know what to think. I think his explanation to Lana in the rest of that scene will hopefully give us more of an idea if that is the real Clark or not.

This cracked me up, big time. LOLOL!!!!

I have no clue what's going on, but something definitely is amiss. The only episode where time seemed off at SV's FOS was in Hidden, and I think that was just artistic license. They *could* be going in the Donner FOS direction, but I don't think this is an example of that. Craig said there was a big twist in Gemini. This is probably part of it.

Definitely, that doesn't sound like Clark, either is Kal-El or Bizarro.... well, this Wednesday will have the answer since our Canadian friends have the chance too see Gemini before Americans do.

Oooooo.... Kal-El? Hmmmm... I *really* like that. More than it being Bizarro or Brainiac, in fact.

Oh gosh. Tempting. Very, VERY tempting. I think this ONE time, I really don't want to know. But I won't be able to stay away from the boards for a night. I don't have that kind of willpower. I MAY be able to stay away from this thread, however. We'll see.

But the first person who blows the "twist" in any other thread than this one before Thursday is gonna be flayed alive.

I will be VERY pissed if the twist is spoiled in a different thread.

I can't decide if I'm going to stay unspoiled for this one or not.

Which means: likely not. :lips:

You know how I'm 3 hours behind everyone else here .... last season I checked out the thread for Trespass while it was airing on the East Coast, and I was totally pissed off with myself that I did. So if that helps you any? :ninja:

See, for this one time, I think it'll be more fun to remain unspoiled, which is HIGHLY unusual for me. I mean, I had to know the ending to The Sixth Sense before seeing it for cryin' out loud LOL.

Now, if I had to wait longer than a day, I probably would cave. But this sounds too good to know ahead of time.

Of course, I say that now when it's not Wednesday night, and all of the Canucks are yacking away. I still might cave. Somebody hold me. LOL

I'm trying to remember if I've ever been unspoiled for an episode, and I don't think I have.

Maybe I'll give it a try.

No guarantees. :ninja:

I think seasons 1 & 2 I was unspoiled for every ep. That was before I started reading SV forums.

I'm gonna hang in there till after the show on Wednesday. I'll be on the boards at that time unless I get hit by a bus between now and then. LOL If you peek, and *YOU* think it's no big deal, could you PM me? I'd rather read the thread at that point and know ahead of time than wait another day only to find out it was something completely DUMB. I think that would piss me off more.

Examples of "holy CRAP, I didn't see that one coming" would be Cassandra's visions of Lex in the White House in Hourglass, Clark's visions of Krypton in Memoria, the cape in Hereafter, Clark being branded in Exodus, the flying scene in Relic, or the whole "it was really a dream" beginning to Slumber. That stuff is more fun not knowing, and indeed I was surprised by all of 'em.

Examples of lame reveals would be Grulian, or Kara waking up w/o her memory or powers. Those events aren't worth commenting on, never mind waiting to be surprised by. Please. In fact, if the twist doesn't directly involve Clark, I'm pretty sure I won't give a squat about it. :p
