8.05 - Committed - Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

Does Hartley have it in his contract to be naked every single week?

did Clark just hit Lois with the "statistically speaking this is the safer way to travel" line? Ughh

Erica and Tom FTW. They, by themselves, have made this season instantly better than last.

This is the second week in a row that I've been pleasantly surprised. The show is definitely on point this season.

AGREED, THIS ONE WAS AWESOME AND NEXT WEEK DOOMSDAY!!!:D:up:

Great ep, but some things didnt make sense....

-Clark touched the bracelet and didn't have any effect on him
-He used his heat vision in front of Lois, broke out of the chains in front of her and she saw NOTHING AT ALL?

Otherwise, great ep. Tom and Erica are awesome together... So was Lois lying about taking off the finger sensor or not?

Ha. Ha. He just went Chris Reeve on us!

"statistically" :D
I loved that part :woot::up:
Next week's ep. looks awesome.
Agreed. I'd say it's about time they bring in Doomsday, but at the same time it makes me wonder what's gonna happed with Doomsday for the rest of the season.
At least he sounded cool when he said it, not like the last guy to say it ;)
Agreed:oldrazz:

Yea, the Lois and Clark stuff have been great this season and IMO it's made most of the episodes a whole lot better.

Yea, not his greatest escape, tho i don't think heat vision is visible to the naked eye.

And Lois was so lying about that, tho I'm curious as to what Clark's answer would have been.

Oh she was so lying. If she really took the finger sensor off, she could have said no. She's in Love. Thank god.

I didnt think Lois saw anything that Clark did because of the smoke/steam that filled the room when Clark heat-visioned the pipe?

I think Clark activated his super speed before doing anything else which no human sees

You could say Lois was looking at the guy while Clark used heat vision or that it is invisible to the human eye.

Awesome episode.

LOVED seeing Lois in Clark's old \8/ football jersey. Heh. Nice.

I was bored with all of the Tess/Oliver scenes. Well, except for the duel; that was well done. (Though the resolution was predictable.) Not sure why they're drilling those character's backstories though. In fact, I'm not sure why Jimmy's parent's are that important to the big picture either, or why their background deserved five minutes of precious screen time. C'mon show; stick to the mains, k?

Moving on...

Part of me giggled like a five year old at the "statistically speaking" line. My other half wanted to hurt somebody. I was completely pulled out of the fiction with that homage, especially since it was so eyeroll worthy the last time I heard it.

I didn't see Saw and generally have zero interest in those kinds of films, so I could give a flying squirrel how much the writers ripped off -- or didn't as the case might be. I was however completely sucked into the action in Committed. I bought the Kryptonite bracelet without a flinch. After all, the Kryptonite-as-jewelry approach has been a SV signature since the very first episode (Lana's necklace). Other episodes to use the same concept have been Red, Whisper, Vengeance, and Tomb. So it's not without precedence. Besides, it was better than the antagonist using a Kryptonite-powered lie-detector. LOL

Anyhoo, great ep. SV is fun again. :)

Clarks heat vision can not be seen by the naked eye, this has been established in the past. The episode he sets the Talon ablaze with Lana she didnt see a thing.

Oh and great episode 5/5

I have to admit, I've yet to be disapointed. This season Smallville is going 5 for 5 :D

Amen to that Pat. This has been a fun ride this season. Usually by the 3rd - 4th (filler) eps SV starts to go downhill but I look forward to each upcoming ep. I kinda liked CK's elevator line. TBH I also liked it when Routh did it but heh. I'm silly like dat.

Right, but wouldnt she see the fire from his eyes since he was about 5 feet in front of her

Clark's heat vision is just that, heat. It's not actual fire coming from his eyes. The visual is just there so that the viewers at home can visualize it.
It's not visible and that's been shown a few times.

This one wasn't nearly as much of a ripoff of Saw as Season 5's "No Mercy" episode was. It worked a lot better (both times actually) than I expected.

All in all pretty great episode.

Agreed. Smallville hasn't been this fun to watch since season 2!!!

Its slowly becoming my favorite show...again.

And I absolutely LOVED that last scene.
