Dormer's character I can understand getting a role in the show, as she could get transferred from the SSR to SHIELD... But I can't see any reason for Colman's character to appear at all.

Jenna Coleman might have other obligations at the moment anyway.

Coleman will be doing Dr Who, and she's not affiliated with the SSR so she's a no. Dormer is a possibility however

Like I said before, the guest stars don't have to regulars. Plenty of people who are part of the cast of a different series make appearances in a completely different show.

And Coleman doesn't have to be part of the SSR anyway. She could just be a friend of Steve and Bucky who comes to Peggy for help, or somehow gets involved. It's not like absolutely every actor who will make an appearance in the show will be part of the SSR anyway.

I'd be cool with Coleman and/or Dormer showing up. Whether it'll happen, I don't know. Since Agent Carter is serial in nature, the overarching story has to come first, and it becomes a question of whether particular characters fit into whatever they're doing. Plus questions of schedule, interest on the actors' parts, interest on the showrunners' parts...

Hayley Atwell:

My favorite part is something the audiences haven't seen yet. It's the development of her character throughout the series which will be someone who is kind of more three-dimensional, something that women can relate to, as not just the competent, strong, intelligent woman in this workforce, but the psychological, emotional cost. What it takes for a woman to have to sacrifcie personal relationships in order to find her place in the world and to fulfill her kind of destiny."

... and she reveals that the series will start shooting near the end of September

I hope we see that Bunker set. It's part of the continuity. Maybe even see Arnim before he's IN the computer banks
-I'd say that's quite likely. Show Zola and his fellow "ex"-Hydra scientests being recruited, distrusted, and eventually winning over Stark, Cartr, and co.

-And Zemo Sr. would also be a great villain, though I would still prefer SHIELD's first big mission to be bringing down an international crime syndicate like Zodiac over just hunting down a Nazi who will presumably escape in the end.

I sincerely get the impression that this show will take place before the one-shot.

I think that was confirmed, that this first season (at least) was pre-oneshot.

We also learned that the TV show does take place one year after the first Captain America, but not after the Agent Carter one-shot. It'll at least start in the period before the one-shot, explained McFeely:

We like that richness of not being respected by everyone else and, by the end of the one-shot, she won. We'd like to live there a little longer. So the easy answer is, and we reserve the right to change this, this all happens before the one-shot.

Its likely the one-shot might end up only being broad strokes canon, anyway.

Not sure I like that as much... I mean, isn't it just going to be a bunch of men putting her down for 8 episodes? Would have been far more fun to see the birth of SHIELD surely?

I think a period piece of a Marvel secret agent would be fun no matter what.

That being said, I'm hopeful that season 2 will be more what people are looking for in Peggy Carter at the top with Howard Stark. This is still about the founding of the SSR and all that, but it's always going to be a story centered on Peggy, imo.

I think we're going to get that, just not necessarily this season. Personally, I see these first 8 episodes as laying some groundwork and foundation to her character, of what was going on with her between the end of TFA and before she finally puts her foot down in the one shot. Maybe it will be just a bunch of men putting her down for those 8 episodes, but I think what's going to be interesting is how she handles it and how she grows and builds from that.

If that makes sense.

Makes sense, I just hope it doesn't turn into "look how awful men were in the 1940s" the show

I hope it doesn't take too long to set up SHIELD. One of the problems with AOS was that they were delaying things too long for CA:TWS and you had to get past the first half of the season, but people were losing interest quickly. Agent Carter might not get a 2nd season if people don't find the 1st one interesting enough if it's all set up.

Also, will they repeat the events of the one shot if this is set before it? Or are they just going to gloss over it? The one shot would seem to be fairly important in the narrative, but not everyone might have seen that. Would casual viewers know to go and look there? Wouldn't they really need to expand upon that one shot and make it into a full episode with added details?

It's only 8 episodes as opposed to the 20+ AoS milked things over. One of the showrunners, Michele Fazekas stated the following.

fabulous from a writing perspective" to have an eight episode order, as "it's a really nice number where you can plan it and know where you're heading... They're all they're own stories and they all have their own drive, but it's sort of building toward a big thing at the end of the eight episodes."

Everything about this gives me confidence that it will be of higher quality and more focused than AoS ever was, although I warmed to AoS in the end it still felt like they were figuring it out as they filmed instead of having a carefully crafted product that layered onto itself to make a whole as it developed.

Well since at least this one season precedes it I think it would be best to hold onto that one-shot and actually air it as the bridge between one season and the next. It needs to be taken for granted that the majority of the people who will be watching this show will not have seen it anyways as it is a special feature on a dvd.

They could tack it onto the end of an episode to make it an extended one, or re edit it to incorporate it into an episode with extra scenes padding it out.

I wonder if these will be eight 1 hour episodes or will they be feature length, more like Sherlock or some other British series.

If the episodes were feature length , it would be over in four episodes wouldn't it?

Current episodes in the US are usually under 45 minutes. Why would Agent Carter be different. The more Agent Carter the better however we have gone from thinking we were getting a series to 8 episodes. I see no reason to think we will get hour long eps.

I gotta agree with you. I thought this would be set after the one-shot and show us the formation of shield. I'll give the show a chance but my hype has gone way down for it.

So what if it is a bunch of men putting her down for 8 episodes, she is obviously the most competent in the department and if anything it will further propagate the notion that straight white men are all idiots who can't manage without the presence of a strong women, the SJW will probably end up loving the show!

As for the 8 episode format I'm thrilled, instead of of a 22 episode season where at least half the episodes suck and doesn't seem to know where it is heading as was the case with AoS we can at least have something that is consistently good start to finish and already knows the course it is taking.

I wouldn't mind a 14 episode season split between summer and winter, so 7 episodes over the summer and 7 during the winter between AOS. It would effectively be like 2 seasons, but just that it would be on more often instead of having to wait a whole year for the next season. It could be like various shows on USA (eg Suits or Burn Notice).

I miss Burn Notice... :(

8 episode run between AoS runs makes sense to me, keeps the MCU alive over Xmas

I think a well written, well produced short run of episodes can produce some of the highest quality. With no room for filler, that usually means very good things. Now if they made an eight episode run that is all filler, then well... that is just pointless.

Question on the overall concept. This isn't a miniseries right? This is going to be an ongoing series? With an episode run in the middle during a downtime in terms of tv ratings, I hope they don't expect too much and the show gets a real chance. This is the tv project that I am excited about by far. Love Hayley, and love her take on Peggy. My favorite MCU female character.
