I'm only interested in the tie ins to AOS.

Daniel Whitehall
Hydra
Shield

etc etc

Is this a limited series?
So FAR yes. We'll have to see how well it does.

Horrible and cheesy promo. Hopefully the promos closer to the premiere actually showcase the story, connections to the Marvel world, etc rather than simply screaming "LOOK! A WOMAN KICKING ASS!"
lol What's wrong with that? Tho I do see your point. They need to cover alittle more of what it's about

15 seconds doesn't give them a whole lot of time to show anything.

Plus, the Captain America writers are working on it. I seriously can't understand how anyone who is a fan of the MCU wouldn't be excited about it and the possibilities.

I'm a big fan of the MCU and I don't understand how this show ever made it out of the meeting there they thought it up. Couldn't be less interested, and I also find AoS quite boring. You sound plenty enthused so I hope you enjoy it. 8 episodes instead off 22 should definitely cut down on filler, like you said.

It's not that much of a stretch. Atwell and Cooper were both highly regarded in Cap 1, we get to see the origins of SHIELD, and in a time period that doesn't normaly get a lot of media spotlight, 8 eps isn't that much of a commitment and having something to fill in when your other show goes on hiatus and you have no movies coming out nearby is a great way to keep the brand in peoples minds. It's like a little January mini-event. Plus it has a kick ass female lead, which a lot of people consider important.

Indeed, and I'm all for comic book shows succeeding even if I don't like/watch them so I hope it gets good ratings

It is Hayley Atwell playing Peggy. I can't help but be excited for this. That being said, that was not the best trailer. That being said, I really hope it isn't a limited series. I want my yearly Hayley. :)

I hope it gets multiple seasons too because I want more Dum Dum.

It was interesting that they called it a television event instead of announcing it as a new series.

Could this mean it was meant to be a one and done series from it's conception?

I'm fine with that if it tells all it needs to tell in the 6 hours it has and will be a nice addition to the ever expanding MCU.

Would seem criminal not to included Chester Philips, The Howling Commandos and Zola if that was the case though.

The writers were talking about it going for multiple seasons if it was successful, so I don't think its off the table yet.

They could have had a bit more leg ;)

To each his own and all. And to be honest, I'm way more invested in the Netflix shows more than anything.

However, Atwell and Peggy Carter gained a sizable following after First Avenger, and a lot of online fan support especially after the Agent Carter short influenced this show getting made.

In regards to Agent Carter, I'm not all that concerned about it being a one time thing. If the ratings are there, it will come back.

However, what I'd prefer is a "January Event" every year, as long as AoS is on. In January 2016 it would be cool if there was a Mockingbird event. Or Deathlok. I think you see where I'm going.

They could make Laser Tag: The Movie and feature Deathlok in it.

Doubtless he is coming back this season so they better have gave him a makeover.

Well the new Deathlok comic is due out too

It came out Wednesday and shows great potential. The show prompted it be it is a completely different character called Hector Hayes who seems completely unaware he is being used as a one man army.
Ironically when he goes on a mission he is under the impression that it is for humanitarian reasons, doctors without frontiers.
The look is also much better than the show although not as good as the classic. He does add on most of the tech manually save for whatever is in him and the leg.

Women are a true force in television viewing. Unfortunately, most tv shows that try to cater to women drop the ball completely.

While broadcast tv is a bit different, lets look at cable tv shows that are viewed the most by women: American Horror Story, The Walking Dead, Sons of Anarchy, Pretty Little Liars, Breaking Bad etc.

Most of these shows aren't "Hey, its women and their hot love lives!" Heck, more women watch football than The Bachelorette.

In other words...the "she's smart, strong and sexy girl power" promo is the opposite of what the trends seem to be suggesting that the audience craves. Women don't want that kind of patronizing television anymore.

There are shows like Glee, Grey's Anatomy and others that women watch, but men don't seem to watch those shows in large numbers, and I would think you'd want both for an action type show.

Unfortunately Marvel doesn't make the tv spots, ABC does, and they have figured that's their audience that they want to target. I have no doubt the show will be good, judging by the talent they have on board, but the ads are likely going to be pretty bad from here on out. Hopefully we get an actual trailer that doesn't have that lame voice over.

Is SHIELD going to be called SHIELD? Coulson in Iron Man 1 kept saying they're working on the new name.

It's a show that also has a lot of in house support - evident by all the writers and directors who've worked with Hayley in the MCU have signed on for the mini-series. Even if I didn't like the actors or characters involved, and I do a lot, the directing and writing credentials alone make it a must watch.
