Anyone remember where the SHIELD team picked up Skye from? I wanna say it was Hong Kong (seems like it was somewhere in east asia anyway). Possible Scorch connection? The two of them are currently the only known gifted of unknown origin, aside from the Clairvoyant.

Pretty sure they said Hunan province, China. I don't think there's a Hong Kong connection there.

I think he said China

With SHIELD storing up all of these villains, when Netflix gets it's thing together, they really could do a variation of the jailbreak that started the New Avengers (too bad they are considering them Defenders, I would have saved that name for later personally. I would have made it where Cage & Co were called New Avengers.

Haha, I lived in Asia (Thailand) for a couple years, and I spent about a month visiting China. Otherwise, I wouldn't know anything about Chinese geography.

How are things over there, with the protests, police beefing up security, etc?

Great episode tonight. Seriously one of the best. The show is really improving. But whats up with the super long wait for the next episode? Didnt we just come back from a break?

I live back stateside now, but I've got a lot of friends still in Bangkok so I keep up with it the best. From what I understand, things aren't so bad with the protests this time around, just inconvenient if you're trying to get around the city. The current nature of Thai politics means that these protests have gotten pretty common, but when I lived there there were some pretty big protests that resulted in a huge portion of Bangkok being essentially shut down for awhile, and a citywide 6 pm curfew. Not fun!

Ive been there, though only 4 days, and all i saw was fun (not the Hangover kind).
But I know what happened before. Glad it's not so bad now.

Hopefully they're filming all the remaining episodes for the season so we won't have any more breaks like this. With such a great episode, it's a shame that they have to immediately break the momentum rather than continue to build it.

Yeah, I miss it a lot. I had a wonderful time there, some of the best years of my life. Bangkok's got something for everyone, but get outside of Bangkok and the country is overflowing with natural beauty and some of the kindest people in the world.

Speaking of Asian countries with something for everybody, can we get Madripoor in this show? (see, I'm on topic... :yay:)

What I'm a bit confused on is, didn't Ward and Skye have a closed door session in the mid season finale? if so Ward's making his rounds so to speak

So Skye's an alien. 084.
Who saw *that* coming.....?

Oh, wait. That was me, all along.
Where ya at now, haters....? :oldrazz:

Not an alien for sure, was just an unknown object (person). But I think most figured there was always more to Skye or her inclusion was pointless, or I did at least. Fun to see where everything is gunna go.

Well, we don't know that she is an alien. Just an object of unknown origin. Anyway, this was another strong episode, I think they may be starting to find their footing. This is what I was hoping for, universe building. We now have Blizzard out there, Ian Quinn in league with the Clairvoyant, Bill Paxton showing up soon. Good stuff.

Yeah, but your reasoning for thinking that Skye was in some way superhuman was that Coulson knew that she was all along and it was his reason for bringing her onto the team. And in this episode we find out that Coulson had no idea Skye was superhuman. So, you were right all along, but for the wrong reasons.

Possibly, but we don't know that for sure. The unkown origins could just refer to her powers, not her actual self.

Still hoping the clairvoyant is actually a disembodied Red Skull returning a la the comics by taking over someone, eventually moving on to Robert Redford to control SHIELD in the new Cap movie...

Nah.

Anyway, this episode was a'ight. The stuff in Mexico was the best part.

I don't think Skye is going to be an established Marvel character... completely new

I actually don't want her to become some superhero where she can just save the day and the team and becomes the powerhouse and all that stuff. I'd much rather she just stay the same character that I've started to enjoy. I'd rather them have this whole mystery of her being latent powered but it's all just shown to be something else that happened at that time where she was found. This show doesn't need a superhero on the team.

Are we certain that Baby!Skye was the 0-8-4? Agent Backstory was just part of the backup squad and has no idea of the details. Just that agents died protecting her and other agents died by unknown parties searching for her.

Nice reference to Professor Vaughn. I hope his son Wendell appears. Quasar is one character I think could plausibly get his own movie, but an appearance by Agent Wendell Vaughn would be enough... for now.

In reference to "bad seeds," I've wondered if that is the reason Coulson picked Ward, Fitz and Simmons for his team. SHIELD believes all three are likely to "go bad" for one reason or another. Ward due to his family history, Simmons because her science zeal *might* override her judgement, and Fitz because... uh, Simmons has been friend-zoning him for years? So, Coulson has them so they won't go bad, similar to the AVENGERS ACADEMY series.

I think the "Coulson knew" theory is still in play. I truly believe that the ultimate reveal for their story arc will be that Coulson and Skye are both aliens from the same race. Kree, Skrull, Chitauri, whatever. In retrospect, it would go a long way towards explaining their bond, and how they always seem to find each other no matter what.
