They stayed away from it in the Thor movies because they didn't spend much time at all on Sif. There are a few moments in Thor: The Dark World where it is clear that Sif has the hots for Thor and isn't necessarily thrilled with Jane. This episode gave Sif more time than a typical Thor movie can because in this she was the guest STAR whereas in Thor she is a bit player in a massive cast.
True. Good points. I just recently seen TDW and I did get that impression...sort of, but you are right. Sif had more time in this episode then she's had in all two Thor movies.

So, the end gave off the vibe this alien is going to be something big, if it's Kree, it's an intro to Ronan and his people. We must learn of why they are on earth, SHIELD very well could be introducing the audience into either the cosmic side of Marvel, or SWORD

Not so. I Thor1 Hogun specifically describes Loki as a master of magic.

You actually understood something Hogun said in Thor 1?!

Anyway, I don't recall that but I thought up until now all the Asgardian's powers have been explained as either natural abilities for their race or part of their advanced technology.

This episode really made me want to see an Asgardian spinoff show.
Marvels tales of Asgard.
Like Game of Thrones in the Marvel universe.

I also see why there was as such a big rally to get Jamie Alexander to play Wonder Woman.

Yes. Lady Sif and the Warriors Three show but put it on Netflix (like all The Defenders series will be) and make it 10-13 episode seasons.

This scene bothered the hell out of me and I thought, otherwise, it was a pretty good episode. This is another example of lazy/sloppy writing that has made this group look more like keystone cops than ultra-elite SHIELD agents.
Better scene COAs:
- Lorelei jums off the building behind Ward, grabs him on the shoulder and says, "Are you looking for me?" - BAM - under her spell and the rest of the episode continues.
- Ward pulls a Han Solo and fires first. Lorelei drops and feigns incapacitation. Ward goes to check the body while calling it in - Lorelei reaches up and grabs him - BAM - under her spell and the rest of the episode continues.

For crying out loud - He's facing an Asgardian! Why wouldn't he empty his clip and then start throwing his shoes?
I got the impression, that as soon as Lorelei opened her mouth, Ward was partially under her spell, and that while he was trying to resist it, he couldn't quite shoot, and then she touched him and he was totally under. It was a little unclear though, perhaps if they'd shown him trying to pull the trigger or something.
Edit: I also love when Sif's like "Such an antiquated computer system, we got rid of it centuries ago"

I'd contend this episode was probably a better Thor film than both movies [well, TDW at least]

It was serious, but fun in how it dealt with the fish-out-of-water stuff, had good action, a classic Thor villain, and because of the setting, it felt more connected to the first film than TDW did.

IMO, It sounded like Sif's Asgardian accent came & went like the actress couldn't maintain it for the whole show.

The double standard is astounding it was still rape... I guess Ward was "asking for it then?" because he is "that kinda guy" he's a hoe bag anyways, so it's okay that she raped him

If you reversed the genders no one would be saying this
I take it that your a female or a guy that doesn't like having sex with beautiful women.

From what I have gathered, ctsketch believes that Agents of SHIELD is a documentary series, and that a real Asgardian woman actually put a love spell on a real man named Grant Ward. If this were the case, then I can see where everyone's nonchalant attitude about the event might be distressing...but since this tv series is mere fiction and everyone involved were actors, it's nothing to get upset about.

I doubt she would need to rape many men in the first place. Most men would do it willingly.

You guys know that if the gender roles were reversed there would be complaints. Come on. Imagine a man mind-controlling one of the female shield agents to sleep with him. There would be plenty of outcry

I believe that was Maria Hill talking to Dr. Streiten.

 You're right! For some reason, I was thinking May was in on the conversation. Anyway, the point is, like others say, she was reporting to someone like Fury or Hill, not someone like the Clairvoyant.

Then, she tells Coulson that he should tell Skye the truth, too. Then, when Coulson tells Skye the truth, too, May goes and tattle-tales on his ass. "OMG Nick, Phil has totally found out the truth and stuff! I mean, no way, amirite...?"

I think that was the point. May was asking Coulson to confide in her (May) to find out what he knows. When he wouldn't, she said at least tell Skye. Skye...who's stuck in medical, where May just happens to have a listening device. Although, she may have been sincere, she also had other motives...

If that man was a villain like Lorelei then people shouldn't have a problem. Villains do bad things.

Seriously. She killed a guy after making him abandon his bride in the middle of the desert on their wedding day then made Rooster strangle his wife. Why is no one complaining about these reprehensible acts?

There are rapes against females on every other episode of Law and Order SVU...and no complaints from the viewers. You know why? Because L&O: SVU is fiction. The rapes never really happened.

I watched Friday the 13th the other day. This masked maniac butchered a bunch of teens! After the movie was over, I went outside and saw that NO ONE CARED that these people were dead!! Why aren't they protesting the fact that a masked killer is on the loose??? Shouldn't we be doing something for the families of those who died??? Just like the lack of outrage over Lorelei's crimes, there was no outrage over these deaths. THIS IS INJUSTICE!!!!!

Not saying it wasn't bad or was the worst thing she did. Not at all. I'm just saying that I agree that if the genders were reversed, people would see it as more of a bad thing. Heck I would too. lol

The roles HAVE been reversed! Several men have murdered on this season of AoS...and there was STILL no protests from the viewing public.

Again, this is because the show is FICTION...and the killers were BAD GUYS.

Where were you with a picket sign when Loki killed in Avengers? Where was your protest when Red Skull killed in Captain America?? Why are you ONLY outraged when fictional females commit crimes, but not outraged when fictional males commit crimes?

So, considering Lorelei said that Ward doesn't desire Melinda May, I guess there's finally hope for SkyeWard after all?

Maybe Ward should be tested for Asgardian STD's cause there is no telling how many times Lorelei has slept around with others before coming to earth. Also, although beautiful there's no telling how clean Asgardian women keep it down there.

...what if WARD gets preggars? hahahaha

Actually, the reason no one complains is because all the characters make a big deal out of it, and point it out as a bad thing. The issue was that the rape was not a big deal to anyone, not that it happened. Usually when bad guys do bad things, it's seen as a problem by the people in the show or movie, such as with all the problems you named. Here, with this bad thing, that was not the case. That's what's noteworthy.

It'd be just as bad as if the pregnant wife had shrugged and said 'oh well' when she found out her husband died. It's not the death that's the problem, it's the lack of reaction of the victims and those around them.

who was hoping for that?
Me and many others who hate unresolved romantic chemistry.

Haha true! I think we should also be concerned if there was any protection as well because when a man sometimes loves a woman...Surely you could guess where this could go...
