Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents of SHIELD - S02E11 - "Aftershocks"

Ugh, I wish Mack died instead of Trip. I understand his reaction, but I've never really liked him anyway.

Here's a youtube version of the clip for those that prefer it:

And I just realized I won't be able to watch this episode live :( I have a play to go to tomorrow night, so soonest I'll be able to watch it is Wednesday :( :( :(

I can understand why Mac is upset, his friend is dead, and he feels it's because of Coulson's obsession with the symbols, and the city.

What Mac needs to realize though, is SHIELD is the first line of defense against any kind of threat to earth. The Avengers may be the heavy hitters they call in when a serious threat is identified, but SHIELD agents are the proverbial canaries in the coal mine.

Someone has to go in first, and identify the nature of the threat, before that threat can be dealt with, and if he has a problem with that, then maybe he should re evaluate his chosen profession.

Well, I never liked Tripp, so good riddance as far as I'm concerned. I don't see how you can even have much of an opinion on Mack, considering he's been so ill-defined at this point that they could literally do anything with his character. And "Coulson skeptic" is more interesting than anything Tripp could bring at this point.

SHIELD was the first line of defense. While they've certainly proven some of their capabilities since SHIELD's downfall, it is a very open question as to whether this new, rag-tag group of agents can even remotely fill that void. And, let's face it, he's totally right about Coulson's little journey to find the city. Without Coulson and his map, Hydra would have never been able to find that city. He was the catalyst for all that came afterwards. And the fact that he made the rest of that group his unwitting accomplices most of the way would certainly leave someone who doesn't know much about Coulson more than a bit skeptical.

Coulson got them to the city sooner, but Hydra would have found their way on their own eventually. Who knows, maybe Hydra would have just drawn the ire of the Inhumans, but more likely is they'd learn far too much about them, especially with Raina in tow.

Can't just ignore the situation, and hope it goes away. Secrets need to be uncovered, especially ones involving species of aliens that have messed with our species for eons.

Of course, Coulson and crew don't know this yet, but I suspect they'll get a crash course soon, possibly from Sif. When that happens, they'll know it's something that can't be ignored, since the knowledge that a potentially superior offshoot of humanity is not only amongst us, but organized, and bearing motives that are completely unknown, bears significance far greater than Hydras primitive goals.

maybe he is suffering from survivors guilt. His position is illogical. Hydra where searching for the city independently, shield became aware of that, in the job description that they had to intervene. But questioning couslon is interesting. the crown should be heavy on the head when a soldier dies.

It will be an interesting show, that's for sure.
I can't believe they confirmed Skye's dad to be Hyde.

He's still recovering from the worst alien acid trip in history, so there may still be a bit of alien mojo affecting his mood somewhat.

Why would she do that? She isn't American. It's not like Americans are the default human race to which everyone desires to conform. If she did even want a less Asian-sounding name, once she married Calvin, her surname would be Zabo.

Umm a ton of my Asian friends have americanized versions of their names that they use when doing business etc 0.o

And we have no idea at the minute what happened to her in the intervening 40 + years after she was freed ,or how she became proficient enough in English to be a 'translator' and explain Inhuman lore to Cal ,or how and where she met Cal ,or if she hooked up the other Inhumans .

Maybe she ended up in the US using Kim Johnson as an alias ?

Dichen being in at least this episode (and I would hope more)gives me hope that some of this stuff will be explained. She as much as what Skye learns from the Inhumans she encounters is the gateway to all this stuff through flashbacks.

Mac has been questioning Coulson the whole time...and in the comics he quit SHIELD and wrote a book exposing them.

Personally, I'll be a bit bummed if he doesn't remain as Earth Sentry. I like the idea of this show building a roster of heroes to join in for Civil War.

I like both Mac and Trip. I understand where Mac is coming from though, all this would be pretty damn heavy for someone who is so new to it. But SHIELD isn't as "ragtag" as some would believe. They are still running OPS all over the world that Coulson is in control of, it's just we never see anyone besides the main team. They def aren't anything like their former power but I still think they have plenty of tricks left up their sleeves

Coulson's reaction to being questioned openly like that was pretty subdued, can you imagine what Fury's response would have been?

Are they replaying the midseason finale first or no?

I have it on PVR, but I was deciding between watching it, or the Flash at 8.

edit: watching S02E10, recording Flash.

I hope this is as good as I think it will be. Here we go...

I literally just walked in the door and am just in time

eta: WOW, hthey are going all in with this Inhuman plotline. Im even more pumped for it

Good to see Nightcrawler's BAMFing fx get some use ;)

I'm glad they've explicitly called it Terrigenisis already.

And there was Raina, a blood thirsty Raina.

So far I like what I am seeing, I hope it stays that way!
