Alfred Molina willing to return as Doc Ock

good enough writing? try imaginative writing. it would be a waste of time for him to come back.

In your opinion.

Ock was an awesome villain. And he has to come back, if anything to lead the Sinister Six.

Arad and Raimi said Ock is not dead. Al Molina is more than willing to come back for another one. And a little creative writing can explain how he survived.

Simple as that.

i never said ock was a lame villain. i love the guy, though not even to make him my user name. :)

but i'd rather see a new villian(s) and a new story in each film, as many others. ock has his own movie. he's done for now.

as for a sinister six story line? that's not happening any time soon.

I never said you did. My point was that he was that great that he merits a return some time in the future.

He is one of Spider-Man's greatest villains.

You couldn't have it anyway, I have it ;)

I want to see new villains too. I don't want Ock in SM-3, or SM-4. I want to see the Lizard, Electro and Mysterio in the next couple of movies.

But using a villain again is not a bad thing. Especially with something like the Sinister Six. Think Magneto and his brotherhood of mutants. Something like that.

you talk as if you know these things for sure...we're all speculating here and also saying what we'd like to see - there's really no need to say anything along the lines of "they won't/can't do it and that's that."
they can introduce new villains in each storyline but who says they have to discard the old ones each time? i'm just saying it's possible and COULD work if done correctly
they should never have had darth vader back after spiralling off into space at the end of a new hope...he was so clearly dead....

well, it's not as if a KNOW everything. i just use logic.

darth vader is not a good example. niether is magnet. because darth vader is THE villian for star wars. he is part of the basis for the whole story arc. smae thing for magneto. he's plays a very important role in the movie saga.

the joker is batman's greatest foe, of course, and he is the only villian that i could see having a recurring role in a batman series.. he is a greater foe to batman than ock is to spider-man. but he died (as ock did) and was never brought back in that movie series.

the villians of spider-man are very different. while some are more important than others, there isn't that one villian like darth vader.

another thing you have to consider is that if raimi and the core cast leave after SM3, do you really want ock back with a new cast and director? it would be better to see different villians and stories. i think sony knows this.

haha i can't help thinking about mortal kombat: annhilation when i think of sequels with re-cast characters - they only kept liu kang (?) from the original movie and it was horrible...horrible for other reasons, too...but i digress
i know that vader isn't a good example
joker isn't a good comparison, though - he fell from the top of a building and was a dead body in the movie "batman" - you can't bring someone like that back to life easily
doc ock, however, was just seen sinking in the water and nobody got their hands on his body - just saying that it does leave the door open for his return and i would hope that sony would do this properly
ripley went from one director to another in the alien franchise without being recast and was still a strong performer, despite the movies losing steam after part 2 and falling apart completely for alien: resurrection
if raimi leaves and they want to keep spiderman going, i hope they do things as smoothly as possible and keep as many old faces as they can
they changed the actor who played the oracle in the matrix trilogy becasue the original actress died, but it didn't ruin the movie for me - at least they had a good reason and tried to tie it into the storyline...maybe a re-cast doc ock could be disfigured or wear a wask because of his underwater bloated face if it isn't molina playing him
anyway i'm rambling - i'd like to see ock back in a more badass position however they do it, but i agree it is repetitive..though so is having somebody else on a goblin glider or lex luthor always harassing superman

^ I agree. Just like in all the comics and very well seen in X3...ambiguous character "deaths" are used so that they can easily bring the characters back for possible future films. No one in here can say 100% that Doc Ock is completely deceased and will not return ever again. Those tentacles could have very well drug his body through the water and onto the docks...it's not like his lab was in the middle of the ocean with water a mile deep.

hmm on a somewhat unrelated note, i was wondering if the following could ever happen:
-connors is working on regenerating his arm, goes lizard-ish
-harry discovers this technology
-harry tells connors he can help him with a cure (possibly with the help of doc ock)
-harry asks for help in exchange, to use the regenerative technology to bring his father back from the dead
-norman returns as zombie-goblin crazier than ever (maybe not zombie)
-harry has to fight his own father and dies realising that you shouldn't mess with power that great...the whole responsibility thing

at nomran's funeral they never showed his body nor his casket. he very well might have wished to be creamated. for all we know the serum could have affected him in a way (just like the comic) so that when he became near death his body went into a hybernative state that appeared dead, woke up in the morgue, killed somebody simmillair in appearance, put their body where his was, let them get creamated and nobody would ever know the difference.

He's just that sick that he would do it. Actually he did do it in the comic book. turned out he was behind the scenes the whole time manipulating harry, meanwhile harry thought he was dead.

Ock? people have survived uner the water longer than that.they whoed him under water for like 2 seconds and didn't show what happened after that. I can hold my breath a lot longer than that and I'm a smoker.

I agree 100000%. he's a good character, and he can grow as a character, and the plot is all that matters. I think audiences would welcome him with open arms. I know I'm hoping for a return.

If there is anything, that makes sense it would be him coming back. Doc Ock would be a great choice to come back! That would be great!!!! I would tolerate waiting on seeing any other main villain.. Maybe they could just throw Electro in there.. He's a major villain, but more of a pain in the butt. After Spiderman learns how to defeat him the first time, he becomes pretty easy.

Doc Ock should come back, but only as a member of the Sinister Six.

This is a motion Picture.

The writing would be weak if we just piss out all the villains into a movie..

4 villains in a Spiderman movie is waaaaayyyyyy much.. Wonder what Raimi has up his sleeve. Cause the writing comes first.

I dont think it would be good idea for a Sinister Six. The villain is a symbol of what the obstacle or the crisis in the story is going. The inner turmoil of the main character.

was it never done well in the comics? there is far less room in a comic book than in a 2-2.5 hour movie to write a good story with many villains
consider SM3 has the potential to have a new goblin, sandman, venom, and an open-ended possibility for cameos by green goblin and doc ock if they are somehow not dead...there are rumors of a 4th villain for sure, so who is to say how many is too much until we see how it is all handled
imagine seeing Doc Ock show up at the end to recruit sandman, let's say...he says something about rounding up others and there is a shadow that passes over them of a large bird-like shape and Ock says "here comes one now"..enter the vulture...movie ends
i think that having lots of bad guys CAN be reflective of inner turmoil...many inner demons, some new and some old - finding the best in yourself to overcome impossible odds and then possibly teaming up with someone new because you have to admit you have your limits...enter black cat or harry gone good
ah...rambling again...can't wait for the trailer...and the movie...

cool - i would even go for a change to include venom in the group to replace mysterio or electro if introducing either of them would be too much for a movie

I think doc ock's definatley alive - just watched disc 2 of sm2. Eight arms to hold you about ock is cool and at the end they pretty much admit he doesn't die, it shows a comic saying "doc ock lives" on the cover, too.

if doc ock returns in 3, i would not be mad.
i would be so happy!! i loved him.
if he came back at the end of 3, just to see him walk around, it would be awesome.
ock deserves to be in a chunk of another movie, like 4 or 5, maybe 6.
if he comes back, he needs to be TRULY evil, not having any signs of good.
that would make it awesome.

(i meant that if he came back for a little bit of 3)

I'm pretty sure we would know if molina was back, they can only keep so much secret but to have alfred molina on set is a bit harder, they didn't do to well with keeping famke's return secret & they stuck her in a cupboard...poor bastard

I think they'll have their hands full with Venom for the next 2 movies....

Hopefully, you mean. Hopefully they give him the proper attention.

Given the rumored screentime for Venom is S3, there BETTER be more emphasis for S4.
