The box office is the ultimate measure of the general public's approval. The same box office that fell steeply on second weeked. And a movie that ended up making far less than the last solo Batman film, even though this one had the first historic team up of Supes and Bats. That should take care of the general public's so called reception.

You also have to take into account that the last solo Batman film outgrossed BvS without 3D prices, and despite being associated with a national tragedy.

Who would've thought the general audience would be more interested in seeing Batman vs. Bane for the second time on film than Batman vs. Superman for the first time?

Exactly. I don't know what's more ignorant; assuming your friends speak for the consensus, or that you have to be a nerd to vote on a movie poll.

However, it's also ignorant to assume that an internet poll provides a full and accurate picture of audience consensus.

I never said it did provide a full and accurate picture of anything. I said it it provides FAR more of a consensus than someone's social circle, or any poll on a message board. Especially with a weighty number like 200k. That's a rare big number. In fact the only other poll I could find that even came what you might call close to a huge number like that was the Collider one I posted with 6k votes on it, and the consensus was the same on that one, too. Even before Batfleck, the consensus on polls like that was the same e.g.

If anyone can provide some weighty stats equal or greater than 200k or 6-8k that show a different consensus on this then lets see it. Otherwise these numbers provide more of a picture than anyone's social circle or any poll that's made on these forums. That was the point.

Considering the overwhelming hate for DC in the online community, I prefer to think of my social circle as more unbiased and more reasonable. I know the 50,000 votes count for more, but I'm not at all surprised considering what DCEU movies are facing online.
And you don't have to be a nerd to vote in fan sites, just that the vast majority of them probably don't account for the general population.
If this isn't a picture perfect example of "confirmation bias" then I don't know what is.

Internet polls don't mean anything. Anyone can click or vote.
Everybody supposedly (well lots have to like him or he wouldn't of got in) hates Trump and look how that turned out. We are all !@#$*& now. Anyway.
The votes and public opinion are always different. Same goes for most movies.
The general public like most films that are supposedly hated by critics and everything (just read most online communities or reviews) is always labled as the worse film of the year or worse anticipated or worse made. BS.
Whatever but we are getting sequels to these films because they were liked and enjoyed and made money. (LIKE THE TRANSFORMERS FILMS)
Ha. Online they are hated by critics and fans but people still come out in droves to see them and still make a killing at the box office. You can say they are declining in domestic b.o but they still end up making a billion plus. Oh and we are getting more of the Transformers films too. It's simple. Movies get released and !@#$^& on and might flop or still make money and then years later get reviewed again and get good reviews. Roger Ebert (hypocrite) did it all the time. Reviews don't mean !@#$.
Batman killed in both burton films. Fans complained. He did again in the DCEU. Fans complained.
The DCEU gets crapped on. People complain and we still get more movies.
We are getting sequels still with Affleck's killer Batman.
Enjoy your voting and 10 page reviews and countless videos on what the DCEU supposedly shouldn't do when...... we are getting more films. Lucky me.
These are what are coming back when people complained lots about them hmmmm Lex Luther. Snyder. Ayer etc.........so the DCEU. The hate for DCEU is insane but somehow we are getting sequels. I'm done.

Affleck didn't deserve the Razzie, but all of the other ones are deserved.

Its still a self-selected internet poll, so still generally worthless. . . but yeah, with almost 300K votes, its at least somewhat less worthless than the norm. Certainly it probably does represent the attitudes of the "internet-using superhero movie fan" demographic, if not the general audience.

No poll with stats in the hundreds of thousands is worthless.

If Brexit taught us anything it's never trust a poll in the millions. Or a single Pole, apparently...

Lawd! This isn't a poll in the millions, nor one fifth as serious as Brexit. There is no basis to doubt these numbers.

If you're a fan or just want a good in depth review of this movie I suggest checking out Samuel Otten's youtube channel. I didn't like the movie at all, but his breakdown of scenes made me really notice that the movie had so much depth in it.

My fav critical vid is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ALHJI0Zqweo Character and dialogue goes a long way with superhero movies and WB really needs to wise up on that. Cavill and Affleck are my fav versions live action versions visually if only they were written better.

Exactly.

It's nice to see Conroy getting some love but Bale again is on top.

I voted Conroy. :o

I wouldn't vote for Conroy or Arnett, because that would be unfair towards actors, who had to represent the character physically as well. Even though I respect Conroy's work great deal.

Can't really choose between Bale, Affleck and Keaton. I even like Kilmer in the role. Bale - everything is great, but that goddamn voice. Keaton - nice voice and epic gaze, but physically unconvincing. Affleck - nobody sports the cowl better than him, great physically and I don't mind the distorted voice. But he needs better material and drop weight a bit. Kilmer - the best voice of all live action Batmans, but the film itself is so-so... Anyway, I voted for Affleck.

Affleck looks good in a cowl but his expressions are the equivalent of Ben Affleck putting on a mask for Halloween and just acting like himself. He LOOKS like THE batman but then he starts acting in that suit and I'm quickly reminded that it's just Ben. For that reason, and the lazy voice is just average, makes me put him under Keaton. The voice ain't bad but it's not good either. However that "doh!" crap that Ben does everytime Bats gets hit, is soo stupid.

Affleck's voice is second best after Conroy. You are right, Out-of-Boose. It's not fair for live action actors when Conroy is involved.

But I don't think he needs to drop weight.

That suit's padding was weird. Like, he looked to be in great shape, but in the suit he looked like a massively fat bodybuilder.
