Wow Radiosha, up that negativity to the max.

And I thought I was supposed to be the Nancy Downer (every once in awhile) of these threads.lol

Just like TASM2, this movie is overstuffed and over-marketed.

This movie will not fail financially. I just don't see it being great- Zack should be worried about directing Justice League if this movie don't come together. He'll still produce and have his blueprint stamped moving forward, but... bye bye Zack.

I'm only half-kidding.

Ehhh, I'm not too certain about that. They're gonna keep pushing no doubt, but if BvS doesn't pan out, they might rethink Synder's involvement with the big picture.

Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if Ben takes over the director's chair for JL and Ayer does the Batman solo if Suicide Squad is great.

I think the hingepin for this universe isn't BvS. Like I said, it will make bank. But if Suicide Squad sucks, then oh boy, a lot of enthusiasm for WW (and DCEU) will be sucked right out.

Wow, negative Nancy over here.

I don't. I hate the ASM2 (and SM3) comparison.

Those films didn't fail due to what they tried to put into them, and set up. It failed because of the minds behind it.

You had a incompetent studio head (Amy Pascal) enabling an equally incompetent and out of touch producer (Avi Arad). And that producer hired the writers/producers of one of the most reviled summer movie franchises (Orci/Kurtzman of TF infamy) to assist their inexperienced director, Marc Webb, who at the time was going into his 3rd film (his second being the predecessor to ASM2, and his first being an indie romance that couldn't be further removed from a big budget superhero flick). A director who had pretty much no power to say no to what Avi Arad suggested/wanted in the film. One of those things being the pointless airplane collision sequence.

In fact, go look up Kevin Feige's notes on ASM2. I can say with full confidence that much (if not all) of what he objects to in his notes came from Arad.

Pair that with an idiotic marketing strategy that they overspent on (some reports say over 250 million), and ASM2 was doomed for failure.

And if you read all the rumors about SM4, it was pretty much the same thing on SM3. Same dumb studio head, same dumb producer. The only difference is that Raimi walked instead having a villain forced on him again by Avi Arad, and letting the film suffer because of it.

And boy did SM3 suffer.

Perfectly stated here. I too can't stand the ASM2 comparison. I feel like this is more Lord of the Rings than Amazing Spider-Man 2.

Needed to get that out of my system y'all. I just want this movie to be great.

If nothing else goes well for this movie, at least all three superheroes look perfect.

Should've kept it in your system.

There is a world of difference between the two creative teams behind the films being compared. Roven, Snyder, Affleck, Terrio >>>>>>>Arad, Webb, Orci and Kurtzman.

This movie is going to turn out like The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
1. I thought TAS2 was underrated. I'm one of the few I guess :)
2. There is no way to know if it is overloaded, without knowing how everything balances out and actually seeing the film ;)

I get your reasoning on original comment, you said it a bit declarative though

I'll be less declarative in the future :oldrazz:

As some pointed out, the creative teams involved really do give a lot of promise. Execution is still key as you said.

You know, guys, I'm excited and have faith in this movie very much, but lets not try and deep throat anyone who has legitimate concerns about it.

Well congrats for breaking the thread Kent....

:o

As much I like to joke about Zack, one of the "cool" things he's able to hone in is his use of flashbacks. Personally, I thought the way it was used in MOS were effective- it didn't take me out of the movie. The beginning montage, Dr. Manhattan's origin, and among many others were cleverly used in Watchmen as well.

This shot intercutting with Bruce's origin + added slo mo = shweeeet

Wait, I thought the positive folks were deep throating Snyder? Now we're deep throating the negative nancys? :o

Honestly though, I don't mind skepticism, but I think there are too many skeptics trashing the film/having worries that are nonsense. I think positive folks are just getting tired of the whining. Most of the complaints i'm hearing are a) not yet proven cause we haven't seen the film or b) based on people's anger at not having their own preferences met.
