You think that if you like but I responded to WBs apparent lack of interest. Don't twist what I've said cause you don't like it!

LOL, the irony. You don't like people twisting your words when you twist and/or misinterpret what other people say on a regular basis.

I said WB doesn't have passion for Superman, I never said anything about lack of interest. Interest is Amazing Spider-Man 1 and 2. Passion is Spider-Man 1 and 2.

Did I say he was? Look at the granddaddy of all live action Supermans. The Adventures of Superman starring George Reeves. You could tell Superman was always amused at the antics of mere humans. And Christopher Reeves Superman. He had dark and depressing moments, but he also found humor in the antics of mere humans like Lois Lane. Or more recently Tyler Hoechlin on Supergirl, the banter between him and his cousin, the winking at the family after he saved them from the drone, when he and his cousin stopped the car of the bank robbers. He also had angry moments, like with J'onn's having kryptonite. But that was mixed in with Superman having fun.
This is the kind of Superman people expect to see in a movie.

To be honest, it's precisely this sort of patronizing attitude that always bugged me in other versions of Superman. It's obnoxious and fake most of the time. When Superman acts like a celebrity or a caricature, I tend to tune out and disconnect from the character. Don't get me wrong, I love when he has warm and fun moments with his friends and the public, but that specific winking and finding humans amusing thing is a huge turn off.

Well, yeah he does. He has his loving mother, a decent job, a relationship with Lois, and he has super powers. Who wouldn't want that?

yep, cos fighting for your life (twice), being blackmailed & knowing full well you are going to your death are all things we want to experience.

So you like a very narrow idea of Superman that isn't really Superman...

That's not what I said at all. I said I like when Superman has warm and fun relationships with friends and the public, but I don't like it when he's a character who acts like a cheesy celebrity -- someone who winks a lot -- or someone who gets a good chuckle at how amusing we mere humans are with our cute human antics. It's patronizing and fake. There are only a few versions of Superman who act this way, and even then these little behaviors are so few and far between that they don't define any Superman, so there's always a lot to love in any version of the character. I love all versions of Superman -- flaws and all -- because I love the character.

That doesn't mean there aren't some things that grate whenever I see them. For me, it's when Superman acts like a character in an over-the-top television commercial. It's when he acts like the caricature of a superhero. So just lay off the winking and celebrity stuff, and I'm cool. It sounds like you are the one with the narrow definition of what makes a real Superman. Are you seriously telling me that Superman isn't really Superman if he doesn't wink a lot or get a kick out of how funny humans can be? Keep in mind, I'm being very specific. I was very clear before that I like when Superman is a funny and warm guy. I just took issue with some of the ways that can often express itself.

I don't get it. Should Superman be miserable and grim all the time because of that? What purpose would that serve? Would that make me relate to Superman more? It really doesn't. It makes him more alien. I have no reason to care about a lifeless character who's just there.

Okay, let's get this straight, no one is suggesting Superman should be miserable all the time. What is being suggested is that sometimes, due to the circumstances of his life, there are going to periods during which he is more stressed, sad, or angry. When Superman experiences those emotions as a result of experiencing things that you and I can relate to like rejection, failure, guilt, etc., then it's okay and even interesting to see how Superman overcomes his obstacles. For example, Superman felt guilty after the Capitol bombing because his faith in people blinded him to potential dangers in his midst. He began to wonder if he could really make a difference. So he sought a little solitude and thought about a story his father told a long time ago, and it gave him the strength to keep going. Is that really that alien?

Have you never hit rock bottom? Where it feels like the world is working against you?

Thats what this superman represents and will represent over the course of the dceu, is that there is always hope, no matter how terrible it gets, its more important to do the right thing even when everyone is working against you.

That part is the relatable part, you won't see this in just one movie, it will be told over multiple parts.

With Marvel superhero movies like 20th Century Fox’s “Deadpool” and “Logan” setting the box office ablaze with R ratings, would the home of Batman and Superman ever make a rated-R movie?

A well-placed insider at Warner Bros.’ DC Films says the answer is simple: Absolutely.

“One hundred percent yes. With the right character(s),” the person wrote to TheWrap.

Watch it be for Plastic Man or Cyborg.

There would need to be more on that to go off, but hopefully it's not just done for the sake of an R-rating. After all, Logan isn't a fantastic film because it's rated R. It's a fantastic film because James Mangold knew the property, had a vision, and focused on making a great film first with heart, never mind it being a great comic book adaptation. Among many other reasons why Logan is so spectacular.

This exactly

On the subject of Superman and comedy: I think SG perfectly captured the sense of humor I always imagined the character having when he and Kara intercepted a pair of bank robbers.

I personally prefer the Superman from the Animated Series/JLTAS/JLU because he's generally a positive and cheerful character but his demeanor isn't one of a super happy go lucky celebrity. He's capable of being pensive and/or introspective with a few funny moments here and there (any episode with Mxyzptlyk for example).

I'm wondering which incarnation of Superman behaves like a celebrity. This is news to me.

Can't say I'm surprised, The Flash is still having problems.

If anyone remembers the original timeline, it's quite interesting to see...
