I don't feel they have a 100 percent conviction in the character on the big screen since Superman II.
Superman has gotten movies and tv shows....its as if they're smart enough to realize that, despite their apparent lack of passion for the character, he's still an icon and they can make money off of him.
Unlike Gotham, that upcoming Krypton would be taking place pre- Kal-El.
Currently, it seems like Constantine has been getting even more cross-platform screentime than Supes. So, I'm here waiting for that feature-length live-action ed. JL Dark. I even think that will happen sooner than a solo Superman sequel.
The only other current and ongoing presence of Superman is on JLAction.
Yeah, I'm referring to the most current & ongoing stuff. There was a Gotham for Superman it was called Smallville. Before that there was Lois & Clark. Green Arrow, the Flash, Supergirl and the Legends are all getting more screentime than Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman. I don't really think that point is relevant.
Superman is appearing in Justice League this year which will be his third movie in the past 5 years and Supergirl (which he made a two episode appearance) is based on Superman's world. He is often mentioned and Krypton he may never appear in but it's still a Superman property.
Yeah, I'm referring to the most current & ongoing stuff.
Superman, himself, has been fairly out of it.
In JL, he'll come back, but it's not known at what point in the movie.
2 ep cameos on his cousin's show and very minute cameos on the direct-to-videos.
The most we do get to see of him and consistently is on JLA.
Constantine, though, he's been featured pretty heavily on JLA, recently starred in the animated JLD, and will be getting his own animated web series.
So, I can only guess they're either prepping him back for the Flarrowverse or there's some actual progress regarding that live-action JLD.
Yeah because they'd be passionate about any of these characters if they weren't making money![]()
Obviously they wouldn't be. Doesn't detract from anything I've said. Don't know what your issue is, other than finding fault with any criticism of WB or DC, as usual.
A lot of his ep on JLA either feature the trinity or some other leaguers, sort of like how Batman seems to be there with the JLD characters.Superman has been featured very prominently on JLA and I think the fact his cousin has a show where he's appeared and mentioned pretty prominently on that show says a lot about how WBs views his character. I think people saying WBs don't care about Superman or aren't invested in the character are talking crap personally.
It's Constantine. A character that was first adapted with the 2005 flick and now since his show he's suddenly been on every platform except in a video game and on the big screen.Constantine's series ended and he's made one episode appearance on Arrow. Look at the gap between Lois & Clark and smallville. There's always gaps once a Series ends. Batman wasn't anywhere but in films during the period for the Dark Knight Triligy. So I fail to see how that's making a character appear out of it when usually during the films the characters aren't on TV as well.
They are doing JLD and it's nothing new to feature a character or characters pretty prominently in other media when they plan to do stuff like that. The Suicide Squad were on Arrow as was Amanda Waller prior to the film been released.

He's gotten his Supergirl cameos and is mentioned quite a bit since like you said it's a "Superman world show", but that's part of what I'm referring to when I said Superman, himself, being fairly out of it.

It's because of how well that Suicide Squad cross-platform promotion worked out that I'm expecting the JLD to be adapted sooner than a Superman solo in the DCEU.
I don't feel they have a 100 percent conviction in the character on the big screen since Superman II.
I think they were on the right track with Man of Steel. If you reflect on that story, it sounds pretty good. It just wasn't executed all that well, and in particular the most important piece of the puzzle, the lead performance of Superman himself, was really lacking.
I'm pretty sure WBG and Rocksteady are developing a Superman game.
People talking about interest or lack of interest. I wonder how many of you really know what's going on behind the scenes. My wild bet would be zero.
It's only logical to think WB wants Superman to be a big success. It's only logical to think they're interested in making the character work. Whether they've been able to do that or not, that's a different issue. But i'm pretty sure they're gonna keep trying, because that's what they've done until now, with mixed results. At the end of the day, making Superman work in this day and age is just not an easy process. Times have changed and what has once been appealing might not be appealing anymore. To reinvent the character in order to make it more appealing to the newer generations without losing its essence can be a very challenging process. I'm personally not unhappy with the results, since i liked Man of Steel. But to make Superman truly interesting in this day and age without changing aspects about the character that a lot of fans wouldn't wanna see changed is not gonna be easy.
I don't think the times have anything to do with it. Things were a lot more bleak when Superman first emerged in the comic books. The Great Depression was still going on. There was a massive war going
on in Europe and another one in Asia. Are you saying things are so happy peachy now that we need a bleak Superman to take our minds off the happy times we are living in now?
I think that an ersatz Superman in the form of Captain America shows today's audiences are perfectly happy to have an upbeat hero even when the world is falling apart all around him. Or even more so
Deadpool proves we can have a fun loving hero that audiences will respond to. I'm not sure why we need a Superman that out Batman's Batman. Make Superman a little more Captain America with a touch
of Deadpool thrown in and I think the general audiences will respond better to Superman.
Superman doesn't need any Deadpool characteristics whatsoever...
Every movie has reshoots. They used to called pick-ups and no one really gave a **** until bloggers started acting like they knew how to make movies better than the people who've been doing it forever.
I don't feel they have a 100 percent conviction in the character on the big screen since Superman II.
And why not? I'm not saying make Superman a womanizer or have Clark running around naked. Just make him more humorous and snarky.
Superman ain't a stand up comedian....
