Zod was alien who attacked Earth, by killing him Superman was seen as a hero by some people, this would have been different, it would change many things as Lex was going to use it in his propaganda against Superman. Lois couldn't manage to get her story against Lex published, so I doubt Lois could have managed to get Lex arrested for doing anything illegal.

Lex foolishly assumed that he can control Doomsday ("knowledge is power"), so as per plan of Lex Luthor, Doomsday would have just killed Superman, I doubt Lex knew how powerful Doomsday was going to become.
And if Batman is a crazed vigilante who has killed people and by this point in the movie had just attacked a company's building, putting guards in the hospital, I don't see society viewing Superman as any more different than how they viewed him before, considering there's already a huge question about his place and people think he was behind the killing and apparent frying of people in another country.

Lex has no reason to think he can control Doomsday and it makes no sense to think that. Thinking knowledge is power doesn't mean someone thinks they can control a huge ravenous monster.
Superman won't kill anyone just because somebody (Batman) is framed for some Crime (Breaking Law is something that Batman does on a regular basis, so that' not a big enough reason for Superman to kill him.) Branding thugs is an issue but still not big enough.

For Superman to act against his own set of principles, Lex needs to focre him emotionally, which is accomplished when he kidnaps Martha.
I never said Superman would try to kill Batman. I said that that would be the impetus for the fight. Because then everything Superman had against Batman wouldn't be pointless. Though if Superman would be willing to kill Batman to save his mom, he would be willing to do so against a crazed vigilante who, as far as he knows has committed a heinous crime or has kidnapped his mom (that's what he could be framed for) and has the only thing that can kill him and is trying to kill him.

We heard the DC exec meetings are pretty out there.

“They gave us a list of DC properties and said, ‘Is there anything you’d be interested in?’, in no way promising us anything at all.”
Goldstein adds that it was their experience with Warner Bros. on Game Night and what they did with Spider-Man: Homecoming that led the studio to consider them for one of its major superhero properties:

“They were interested in us because of Game Night and Spider-Man. Because of that combination they did kind of say, ‘We’d like you to consider one of our movies.’ So we read a number of the scripts, and that was one—we’re huge fans of the character, I collected the comic books as a kid. It was an exciting possibility.”

Daley adds that what also drew them to Flash was his general unrefined quality when it comes to being a superhero:

“Just the fact that the character is unique from other superheroes in that he doesn’t completely have his **** together like Superman does. It’s more of a ground-level superhero.”

Goldstein said that this approach—crafting a story in which the lead in your superhero movie is incredibly relatable—is what Flashpoint and Homecoming have in common:

“It’s a relatable way in to a superhero movie in some of the same ways that Peter Parker was for the Marvel side of things.”

I get that they were trying to make Flash their Spider-Man, but it didn't work at all. Ezra is no Holland. Hell, he's no Tobey either... I can't tell who is worse though Ezra or Garfield.

Apparently you have seen Flashpoint.

That's odd. I recall most people being pretty pleased with Ezra's Flash. It seems a little presumptuous and hyperbolic to say that it didn't work at all. Maybe it didn't for you, but it did for others. Also, it's not as if Flash will be exactly like Spider-Man. Are there similarities? Yes. However, the things that make them different will be what makes it special. His powers, for example, lend themselves to very different stories. It makes sense and works for me.

As long as Batman does not give Flash an annoying A.I. suit that does everything for him, I'm good....

Also, for the love of God, no team Flash tv show nonsense.

Jason Fuchs talks Lobo.

I think when you’re working on comic book characters, especially ones that are near and dear to my heart, like Wonder Woman and Lobo are, you want to create something that’s true to what the original text is. I think Wonder Woman really captures the feeling of — not only the original Moulton Marston comics, but the George Perez run in the late-80s. It feels like reading those comics up on the big screen. So for something like Lobo, without saying too much about it, it’ll feel, I imagine, quite different because the Lobo comic itself is quite different. What Keith Giffen and Alan Grant put together was something really unique, and hopefully, we’ll capture some of that same spirit when we make the movie."

Possible details about Snyder's initial cut of Justice League that prompted the extensive re-shoots/re-writes from "Revenge Of The Fans" Mario Robles!

if one is skeptical of the veracity of this information then I should denote that this is the same guy(along with Jett from BOF) who originally and accurately reported on the "extensive re-shoots" Justice League was getting that resulted in the now infamous 'Frankenstein Theatrical Cut.'

Can someone explain the appeal of Lobo to me? How is he a character that can be near and dear to anyone's hearts, as Fuchs is saying he is to him?

This guy is very credible.

If that’s true: **** that ****.

Appeal of causing mayhem for fun, enjoying yourself and not giving a ****?

That's all Lobo is? What would be the narrative hook, the arc, and the reason to root for him? How does a character like that serve as a solid protagonist for a feature film?

Probably the same as Deadpool, I'm assuming. Not sure how they're going about it. As Lobo, isn't in my wheelhouse of superhero knowledge.

Being a satire on anti-hero types like Wolverine and Punisher. I'm personally not a fan of the character, but that's basically it. Irreverent tone, vulgarity, ultra-violence and making fun of comic book tropes. Looking like a mix of Lemmy and the Undertaker helps too.

He's a fun anti-hero with a potential for action and dark comedy. He's basically the closest thing WB has to a character with Deadpool type story (barring Ambush Bug, I guess) potential.

It's less surprising that Lobo is getting a movie and more surprising that it took this long.

Evidence this film was in a no-win situation from the start. WB really ****ed this entire thing up and it pisses me off.

Looking forward to Triple H being cast, and the inevitable tie-in PPV.

The DC Entertainment arm of Warner Bros. Pictures is filling out with the hire of Warners exec Chantal Nong.

Nong has been named vp production of Warners’ DC film group, which in January received a new leader in Walter Hamada, one of the executives behind the massively successful Conjuring horror movies made by Warner Bros.' New Line division.

Nong will now work on the development and production management of its slate.

While DC films currently are in a quiet period — Warners is only releasing Aquaman in 2018 and Shazam! is the only movie in production — that is expected to soon change. Wonder Woman 2 is heading into the casting stage and will be the next pic to shoot. Insiders say the next wave will likely include the Flash film and Batgirl, among others.

Nong has been with the studio since 2011 and most recently oversaw the development of The Meg, the upcoming prehistoric shark movie that stars Jason Statham, and Crazy Rich Asians. She previously worked on the studio’s Anne Hathaway comedy The Intern as well as 300: Rise of an Empire.

DC should switch up their strategy. I was at Target today in the birthday aisle for kids. There were Pokémon, Star Wars, Marvel (multiple characters featured), and Batman themes . I found it odd that no other superhero from DC had caught on enough with kids to be featured in the birthday aisle. Then I saw the DC superhero girls line. Harley, Batgirl, Wonder Woman and Supergirl were prominently featured. This is what DC should focus on. It’s their last hope against Marvel. The only arena where DC has a leg up on them is the female superhero department, and DC should exploit that as soon as possible

You are absolutely right.
I go to Disney World with my brother’s family every summer. Past couple years have played a game with my niece and nephew of counting superhero t-shirts on guests and seeing which hero wins. This past summer a big surprise was the number of little girls in DC Superhero Girls T’s.
It was startling.
As I mentioned in the Batgirl movie thread, the one area where DC has some distinction and public good will is with female superheroes after Wonder Woman.
Diana, Batgirl, Catwoman, Supergirl, and Harley Quinn dwarf any Marvel characters in public awareness.
If Warner had any competence, they wouldn’t have just immediately greenlit WW2, but seen a broad brand advantage and prioritized Batgirl- under any means necessary- and Birds of Prey as well.
Right now, a DC female superhero film would have as much anticipation and merchandising possibilities with girls as a new Disney princess film. Warner could own this brand.
But now we have the mess with Batgirl, Captain Marvel is filming, and a Black Widow Avengers-style team-up film is in active production.

Warner seems poised to mess up yet again. You can see a future five years from now where people are, once again, talking in amazement about formerly unknown (outside of nerd culture, that is), b-list Marvel female characters being more popular than DC characters who have been in the public consciousness for generations.
