I hope some director for Superman. Who ? Maybe Vaughn or JA Bayona or Christopher McQuarrie ?

give me dat Michael Bay reveal. I need more salt for my table.

Wrong. That old guy would be sitting there without a shirt. GLOBAL WARMING.

And no there's no airconditioning in 2065.

I'm rooting for JA Bayona. JW:FK will be a massive hit this summer, and he worked with WB/New Line when they released The Orphanage back in 2007/2008.

I don't know if McQuarrie will move over to WB. He'll probably want a break between big studio films if he does.

I don't speak twitter, what's happened ?

As far as I can tell, two things.

1) New Gods has fallen through. Quelle surprise.

2) A big name director is joing DCEU, which in turn will end up in leaving, because it's a massive ****storm.

Would that be about right ?

I hope his new director is for a central DCEU project rather than something on the fringe that won’t have much long term impact on the universe and help raise the prospects for other films.

Jay Oliva (Director of The Dark Knight Returns Animated movie and storyboard artist of Man of Steel) posted some interesting details about what Snyder had planned for the DCEU:

Interesting. Thanks for posting. Even at the time , i.e. , when BvS was announced, there was a dispute about whether WB was making BvS as a response to MOS box office or if it had always been played to follow MOS.

I certainly don't think there was a plan for BvS to follow MOS when Mos was being made, and it certainly wasn't the plan when Nolan and Goyer developed the project.

I'm skeptical Nolan would have even been apart if it if he knew the plan was to introduce Batman next given that he was still working on TDKR during the development of MOS.

I don't think Nolan was looking at the new Superman film to be a launchpad for a shared universe, but I think WB certainly wanted and intended it to be.

It was clearly on their minds because they already had a JL script by Will Wisher kicking around at the time. There were even rumors at the time that Levitt's John Blake would appear as Batman in JL it and that they were trying to get Bale to return in the role in a separate potential Batman and Superman team up film.

The question is more of whether it was always in the cards or whether it was a reaction to the reception and backlash towards MOS.

Which Oliva answers:

Back in April 2013 (before MoS released in June) I was tasked with doing the Superman 75 short. I met with Zack who was the exec producer on it and he showed me storyboards of BvS with Batman already in it. AND it was a Batman from DKR.

Which Oliva answers:

I should have made it clear. What I meant was whether there was always a plan for MOS to be a springboard into a larger DCEU during MOS's inception and development stages with Nolan and Goyer, or whether the plan was reactionary. Remember the MOS project was developed by them first, and they recommended Snyder for MOS afterwards.

Snyder isn't the one who came up with the idea for Superman film.

As I said, I felt a team up film was always in the cards from WB pov, and the quote you posted furthers that.

He shot down the reactionary part by stating that the plan was planned before MoS came out ie before said plan could be reactionary since a reaction hasn't even taken place. He doesn't know about before bringing Snyder on but he's aware of the planned "following films" existing prior to MoS's release.

Well , I never bought into the argument that BvS was made and conceived as a response to the MOS box office , but that was an argument by geek pundits and fans at the time who were against the idea of doing a BvS film as opposed to a MOS 2.

Alot of fanboys saw it as a reactionary move and pointed to the lower than expected box office and critical reaction as proof of it.

But when you look at it in the context of at least a decade leading up to several attempts to MOS having a team up or crossover film,( BvS 2004, JL Mortal, Will Wisher's Justice League, Even a Batman cameo in Superman Lives) prior to TDK trilogy, it doesn't seem so out of left field the way it did to alot of fanboys.

If anything , I think the negative response to MOS only re-affirmed WB pre-conceived plans and ideas to move idea with a BvS and JL film.

If you have the likes of Speilberg joining the DCEU then I think the DCEU actually can be saved
