Yes if DC had focused on their own product and not so much on Marvel they would be doing well for themselves but if they can focus on setting things up their way but also focus on storytelling, great directors and unique casting choices all around then I think they will be fine

That is definitely what they need to do.

Then they shot themselves in the foot too because look they already have sequels set up but then their shared universe hasn't been a hit either so you may as well focus on the films that don't have sequels and build up those films then you have sequels for those films and then you have sequels for the films that already have sequels

Then you come back to the shared universe

I think that where possible any sequels will avoid direct referencing of events in BvS, SS, or JL. They'll just move on from where the characters are now.

At the same time they shouldn't directly contradict any of those events. After all there are fans who like those movies. It should be possible for viewers to either include or ignore them as they wish.

Rumor via Collider.
Over the past month or two, I’ve been hearing rumblings that Henry Cavill was in negotiations with the studio to extend his DC contract beyond the one picture that’s still left on his deal. The rumor I heard was they wanted to make Superman the glue that ties all the DC movies together, which would feature the iconic character making small, but memorable, appearances in all the movies sort of like the way Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury pops up in most of the Marvel movies. However, while the rumors have been pretty loud from some very reliable sources, I couldn’t get anything 100% confirmed, so it’s still all in the rumor category.

Superman being the Fury and showing up in every DC film or only in the films that matter then I can get behind that

Isn't Superman is supposed to be cameoing in Shazam?

I think if they're planning on doing Legion of Doom down the line, it can teased in post credits scenes but keeping the main films themselves with a loose connectivity.

Has anything actually been confirmed on that? I've heard/seen a lot of rumour.

If WB believe 'throwing' Superman in for a 'bit part' in a number of future films is how you treat the 'godfather' of characters then that is a cataclysmic error.

Yeah but I think people of course want solos but they also want to see these heroes together I mean if Infinity War or Civil War or any of those films have taught us that people want all of their heroes in the same movie at the same time

They want to see Marvel heroes altogether.

The DC characters are Gods, in one way or another. Superman doesn’t need to team up with anyone. Nor does Batman, or Wonder Woman.

With all the best will in the world, the Marvel heroes are ‘less’ by and large. More complex a lot of the time, but also more human and more flawed. They work well with each other, because they can co-exist well.

But They are not the archetypes. That belongs to DC. The films should treat them as such.

What's the harm, exactly ?

Would you prefer not to see him at all?

I don't see this as an issue, especially if its leading up to another Superman solo.

I think just a rumor at this point.

If he does appear it would probably be only a small cameo. If it was something on the level of Iron Man in SMH, or Wonder Woman in BVS i think we would have known by now.

I think it's a shame that WB/DC are having to think that way, but given the current state of affairs with the DCEU I think it makes sense.

You're probably right.

He's pretty much been the lynchpin of their universe thus far.

How is it a shame that he might show up in other films? He might be the one character who reasonably could.

Did we know Kevin Costner was going to appear in BvS? I don't think there is sufficient evidence or signs one way or the other. I mean, Randall Park didn't film his stuff for Aquaman until just recently, even though it was always the plan for him to be in it. Give it time, and keep an open mind.

I'm assuming the difference is that Shazam isn't being touted as "event" as those films wherein everyone just had to know ahead of any official trailers.

No no, I don't mean it's a shame that he might show up in other films! I meant it's a shame if they're considering that instead giving us a Supes solo earlier.

That makes zero sense. No big marvel character needs to team up with anyone, spider man didn’t need it in 2001, Iron man didn’t in 2008 , black panther didn’t in 2018. Batman is as flawed as any marvel hero and that’s actually his big advantage and the reason he has been the premiere dc hero over the years unlike Superman , for example, that lost his popularity in the movies extremely quick. Of course dc should have started with solo films, and many of them, but the reasons you present about why dc characters shouldn’t team up is weird.

Oh and being a “God” is a big no no for most of the GA , hell the cultural dc phenomenon “Wonder Woman” did 800 million at the bo, the cultural marvel phenomenon “black panther” did 1.350 billion.
