That quote would've been awesome if he didn't mischaracterize (Nolan's) Batman as being "nihilistic". All three of Nolan's Batman films ended on a hopeful note.

Well, to be fair, he didn't say Batman is nihilistic without exception, only that he's more nihilistic than Supes.

Whether or not that's an accurate assessment, I'm not sure. I suppose it depends on what Goyer meant by "nihilistic."

Yeah, Batman isn't nihilistic.

What do you think Goyer means by "nihilistic?"

Batman's certainly more nihilistic in how he sees himself and his own life... at least until the end of TDKR that is :)

Holy **** Henry Cavill looks like an absolute BADASS in that picture. Finally a Superman that not only throws a punch, but easily looks like he can kick the absolute dog**** out of you! Looks great. Pure awesomness.

I know right?

Now we just need the new trailer so we can finally see him throw some punches (hopefully)!

See? Superman can be angry without his eyes going crazy red. We all know DC's run that into the ground recently.

I cannot freaking wait, surely we'll see him throw a punch in the trailer

I'm don't care what exact words he is using, I just care that he knows the difference between Batman and Superman. That was always a worry for me when Nolan and crew took on this film.
I'm fine with Superman being more grounded I just didn't want to see a square Superman shoved into a round Batman hole.

I think that might actually look kind of awkward in live-action if not done right.

Nihilists believe life is meaningless, and reject moral principles. That's not Batman.

Well if you look at Bruce Wayne's progression throughout BB, that's certainly how he was before going on his trip to find himself. And he continued to have little regard for his own life having any meaning beyond the symbol he'd created and it's importance in saving Gotham, for the majority of the films' arc.

HOLY GOD!

Cavill looks amazing...AMAZING. That, my fellow Hypesters, in the Man of Steel.

Now, as for this image...

It looks good, and Amy looks lovely, but (and I can't believe I'm about to say this) notice how the crotch region is totally in shadows. Somebody is missing his red trunks :oldrazz:.

I had no qualms when Snyder was hired. Now I'm convinced he was the best choice for the job.

never. neveeeeeeeeeeer.

when i watch trailers and badass pics i get hyperbolic and act like a 5 year old fanboy. but Snyder is not and will never be the best choice for a movie.

HOLY NEW SCANS! Thank God, thank Allah, thank Thor... No... Henry Cavill is our god now!

I'd expect the writer of the films to know about the character he wrote y'know. I think he's right. But that's what makes Batman cool and contrast against our Supes.

Those pics look amazing. I want to read this now!

Oh man oh man.....

This is more than just a movie for me. I just hope that zimmer does a good job, i really need a Supermanish score.

You're right; I think the Joker and Bane are closer to being nihilists. Dictionary.com provides a few definitions for Nihilism, and the first definition (total rejection of established laws and institutions) is very applicable to the Joker, while the second definition (anarchy, terrorism, or other revolutionary activity) is applicable to Bane.

By opposing both the Joker and Bane, it would seem as if Batman is in fact anti-nihilistic.

However, Goyer didn't say that Batman is nihilistic; he said that Batman films tend to be more nihilistic than Superman films. This is probably a much more defensible claim.

Ha ha I love this post :hrt:

Looks like there are mentions of aborted Superman projects. "Superman Returns 2" is also present in the list. IIRC, that was going to be titled "Man of Steel" as well.

Yes. It was going to be called "Superman: Man of Steel".

Obviously, they liked the Man of Steel title so much, they kept it.

Ya know something, I don't think we've ever gotten a Superman movie simply called "Superman". Even the first Christopher Reeve film was called "Superman: The Movie".

Out of curiosity, who do you think would have been a better choice?
