So, have things died down a bit since the trailer got out?

I thought the Superman/Lois 'interrogation' scene in the trailer actually mirrored the first Superman/Lois interview in Donner films slightly - the one where he meets her on the rooftop. I don't think it was intentional as such, and is just due to the way the characters have been formed over the years, but I did notice some similarities - notably, Superman smiling a lot and being quite calm and measured in his responses. He seems to like her and is intrigued by her questions. Lois seems kinda fascinated/smitten by him in both.

Where, here or in general? It won't die down so soon online. Currently Man of Steel is again trending WW on Twitter (edit: now Superman is trending! :woot:). This is like the 4th time I've seen MOS or Supes trending since the trailer came out. :word:

^ Yeah. TBH, I feel like he's more passionate than Chris Nolan in TDKR. That's just the vibes I've been getting.

Ridiculous, Nolan reportedly had a 4 hour screenplay to cut down, he had a script that was so packed that he had to cut down a lot of the scenes just to make a time that would allow him to use his precious IMAX camera, in which nearly over an hour of the film was shot. The film has wildly divided fans because of Nolan's somewhat controversial views on Batman lore....yeah I'd say it's very VERY passionate.

Yes, but he is overseeing all of that. It's not just him sitting there telling the actors to do what they want, or the cinematographers to do what they want. For all we know, the first 5 times Cavill said that line about the 's' being a symbol of hope sounded awful, and he asked him to do it a different way. For all we know, the first draft of that Superman/Zod fight we saw a glimpse of at the end wasn't very well editing, so Snyder suggested this or that change.

That's why Director's are recognised for their talent. Because when it comes down to it, the finished product is their baby and they have a lot of control and input.

I'm not saying the actors and the rest of the team shouldn't get any credit, i'm just defending Snyder.

And I get the feeling i'm going to be doing that ALOT for the forseeable future. :(

I'll be right there with you Hope. He has just delivered a trailer that has given me the answer I wanted on every gripe and complaint I've had for decades... THIS is the Superman I've always wanted.

He deserves credit for what he has put together for us. And O M Goh... That music is (man I hate saying this) EPIC!

The trailer and the music get better every time I watch it. And excuse me if that's getting close to 15 times already. :hrt:

I'm seeing tweets and posts on FB from people saying they've never been a superman fan but this trailer rocked it.
and, 'I think big blue is back, with a vengence.
and, this went to the top of my must see films.

A lot of my friends refuse to see the trailer! They just don't want to see anymore, they want to watch the film with as little as possible spoiled. That has never happened with my group of friends. That first trailer must have really done a number on them haha.

because he is an artist and he was hired to make what he likes. Snyder is doing what Goyer wrotte what would start a superman franchise for WB. :woot:

i respect more Singer . both Snyder and Singer are crawling back to what made them big.
I can already see Singers contract when he signed on for SR

31. Absolutely no fighting or throwing punches
32. The movie is yours, do as you please. Make what you like...
32a. ...provided what you like doesn't suck ass
33. Red Speedo an absolute must

Classic example of not reading the fine print I think. You should always read the fine print.

Hey, Superman needed to be a chick flick after being out of commission for all those years.

Didnt really think so either. :cwink:

Seriously, that word... trending. It needs a vacation. :oldrazz:

But what's its specific meaning in this case?

So, have things died down a bit since the trailer got out?

The new trailer has over 1.5 million views on YouTube just now... I have no idea what that means but it seems like quite a lot for the short amount of time it's been out.

'Superman' is also trending on Twitter in the UK.

What if.. the movie.. is actually about as great as the trailer is? Like how many times would you rewatch it?

I got that too and loved it! :woot:

I'm thinking about getting a third job part time at a theater so I can watch it for free as many times as I want while it's still showing... answer your question? :woot:

Films are a collaborative effort. This one feels more so then any I can remember for awhile. If this is a success on a creative level, everyone involved is going to deserve a lot of credit. Does this movie exist without Nolan or Goyer? Would it look this amazing without Snyder? How about those responsible for casting Henry, Adams, Shannon, Costner, Crowe, Traue, and the rest of the incredible cast? The performances itself? The list is endless.

Absolutely. If anything, it's not just one person that deserves credit, but how this all comes together because of the people involved with it. Goyer had an idea, a concept, which excited Nolan, who pushed the project, he also put faith in Zach Snyder, who many people doubted, and it seems it all came together wonderfully. Not to mention the casting people, and the cast itself. No movie that was that ambitious was a success because of a single person. They all deserve the credit.

It's almost ridiculous how many of my non-fan friends have said the same thing this morning. Some of them said they got shivers that no other trailer has given them. I think this trailer is a huge success.

i'm still leery of snyder's involvement, but this trailer was fantastic and i'm pretty pumped for this movie right now

STM will always have historical importance, etc. But I'm confident this one will at the very least match it pound for pound, and surpass the other entries. Frankly, I can easily see this one being my favourite.

Based off this trailer, Zack Snyder's Maximum Movie Mode feature on the Blu Ray is going to be epic....

Absolutely. You can never dismiss Donner's first film because it started the genre. He set the template, even if he didn't have the technology filmmakers have today.

But this thing could be the first total package Superman film...just as, for me, the Dark Knight was for Batman.

The only nitpick I will always have with this trailer is the inclusion of the my son was in the bus again. Ugh, I'd rather have ANYTHING in it's place, even the Kent's eating dinner or something.

Also I just watched the trailer on mute for the first time and I'm surprised by how much footage is reused. I didn't notice it that much at first because it works well with the new music and build up but I would have still preferred less old and more new, at least new shots of familiar footage. In some ways I feel this should have been the December trailer and a new one more Zod oriented but perhaps the cgi wasn't good enough then.

But where is the new poster WB?! It's time for the handcuff image to go! :)

I'm also curious about the re-use. My friend and I were commenting on the fact that the entirety of all the previous footage somehow found it's way into this super long trailer. I mean if they are going to show the bus scene again, why not show it from one of the various other angles they must have....Zod shows up but is never really focused on ala these marvel villains...

The positive effect being, you get an objectively really well put together trailer, the negatives being obvious. My first guess was that they have to be sitting on unfinished effects(this isn't exactly all ILM/Weta) even though the film has been in the can for...a while, but I'm starting to think that they really just want to reveal as little as possible.

I'm bloody curious about how they are going to cut one more trailer/tv spots, I have a feeling there's going to be more reuse. I hope before release, we get a few more scene like his lift off, or the interrogation.

Everything Krypton steals this for me. And the the interiors are shot like Ridley Scott back in the 80's, love that.

The way I see it, superhero movies are a stepping stone. Superman I was the first big superhero blockbuster. II had the first big superhero fight scene. Batman89 allowed people to take the Batman CHARACTER seriously, even if it was a rather loose adaptation. Blade begat X-Men begat Spider-Man. Jump to 2005, and you have the most thorough origin story thus far. Jump to 2008, and you have two amazing films, Iron Man and TDK. TDK brought credence to the genre and proved that one could have a film that reached beyond its usual conventions, while at the same time Iron Man milked the genre while still embracing an underlying realism, with a great leading performance (I still think its the second best superhero movie).

Cut to The Avengers, which pretty much replicates the comic-book experience. Sure it's the hipster thing to do to diss it for its underlying simplicity, but it embraces the genre for all its worth.

Now back to MOS: It seems to combine the warmth and scale of Superman:TM with the intimacy of Batman Begins and Iron Man, with the all-out superhero action from The Avengers. It seems to be everything someone could ever ask for from an origin film.

So far I'm surprised how sharp Goyer's script appears to be.

Just noticed something in the trailer

Look at the writing behind Lois here, which seems to be the word 'arctic' or similar
DbKHpjY.jpg

And now the same word written on the deck of the oil rig
mos10.jpg

I suspect the 'arctic' bit is part of the name of the company who runs the oil rig. And after Clark saves the workers and get them into the helicopter (which we saw in spy shots from the set), they're airlifted back to their HQ on land .......... where Lois turns up, starts showing them photos of Clark taken in Smallville, asking if this is the man who saved them.

Waaaaaaay too late for that.

I don't think I've ever looked forward to anything more!
I'm the same. Like I'm dangerously not prepared for this movie to suck.

I showed a friend the trailer. He was impressed, but was confused by the interrogation room interruption. I had to explain, 'yeah it's a weird edit'. Seems odd they'd cut it that way.

The most important thing to Superman is heart. Crowe and Costner are definitely delivering here. I can't wait to see more of Supes and Lois. I think Amy can bring it too. I think it's what can elevate it above the TDK films. At least for me. It's what makes Superman the best in my opinion.
