As long as there's heat vision, train-smashing, tornadoes, and Superman slugging it out with Zod in the actual movie I'll be fine.

The second Snyder was announced, I thought to myself "Man, Heat Vision is going to go CRAZY in this one..." So I know that's coming... What I want to know about is Arctic Breath (AND Super Breath). Underrated. And we've seen him in scenes surrounded by - and ON - fire! C'mon, Superman! :oldrazz:

Throw in a touch of All Star Superman with Jor-El's line "They will race behind you..."

I'm just glad they turned down the bright blue of the costume, seriously it's about time someone learn about color palette and make film look more real.

Because no one wears blue? How is dark blue somehow more real? Were the 90's St. Louis Rams somehow less real than the current St. Louis Rams?

I hate to say this, but it's the IMDB MOS page. Ever since the film got its PG-13 rating, that runtime has stuck. I think there's some definite truth to it.

what is this, a battle or just the destruction of krypton?

I think it's a flash back sequence ala mind meld in star trek. When JorEl gives his son the exposition dump. Something about the way Jor is composited and the lens flares doesn't seem natural, but in a cool way.

also, war, not destruction.

I'm just curious why the sun's not red.

The reason for this is probably because this character is the only one that could be a combination of what you described, considering his mythology and what he is as a character.
yes and yes

I would be perfectly OK if the TDK and MOS shared the same universe, MOS taking place after TDKR. It even kind of fits the 'escalation' of Gordon's words in BB. I don't think it would ever need to be made explicit though. But I would be fine with a subtle JGL cameo in the background in a later film or something. Some little nod.

However since WB is set to start production on JL for 2016 it's concerning. Especially since the narrative isn't Nolan or Snyder or someone has pitched a very strong vision of a great film, rather WB is looking at that $1Bn Marvel film, and wants in.

I definitely think with the last 1/3 of the new trailer we're getting more of the true visual of this. Yeah there was all the anamorphic raw nature imagery of rural Kansas and Alaska, but this film is definitely going to have visuals more akin to The Avengers throughout most of it, let's be real.

Is Supes looking tearful here, or is it just me? I thought it was a worried expression when I watched the trailer but it looks like tears in his eyes here....

I thought that, elgaz. He's definitely emotional.

I think the sun is red - the sky has a very light red hue to it.

Our sun doesn't appear as yellow to us, but a very bright white. Perhaps the sun doesn't appear as a recognisable red on Krypton. Kind of like a permanent sunset.

I saw a little thumbnail of that MoS shot, announcing the third trailer... The Routh one was the first thing I thought of. Then the Reeve one, for the desert beneath him.

Now I just thin "Holy ****ing ****" and it's my favourite shot of the trailer. :D

EDIT: About him looking like he's 'emotional' - Good. Awesome... But tearing up in the eyes is as far as it goes. I will not have Superman crying and weeping. No, sir.

He's clearly flying over a desert in that shot.

Then you have this pic :

......... with Lois being emotional also.

I wonder if these pics happen around the same time, and what goes down before or after which hits them both so hard?

it would be interesting if those are tears. i remember 90% of fanboys complainig about the shot in SR. it was a good shot and good acted. but then in 2006 it was a different time so everyone had to complain. i guess noone will have a problem in 2013.

after the Lois/superman pic Faora comes down from the spaceship and takes Superman and Lois to Zod.

Yeah I think its probably Zod and co escaping as the planet is about to die

Let's take a minute to recall the scene that preceded the crying in Returns.:csad:

Superheros and more importantly, male leads can cry all they want. They just need to earn it.

I suppose an accurate portrayal would be a very bright white. And the atmosphere would change the colour it casts onto the planet surface...

I'm just glad there's none of that Crystal crap.
And I do mean crap.

There's clearly a tornado in the shot there with just Superman flying down. But the tornado is before he's in costume? And then he's catching Lois in some blue lightning storm. Fallout out of the anti-gravity ray, after he destroys it?

I also think this movie is going to really put Snyder on the map. Every shot looks like a masterpiece of lighting, composition and framing.

Yeah the ice crystal planet isn't realistic. Krypton would be hot and dry.

science vid of what a red sun would really be like:

It matches the trailer quite well.
