some of you scare me... Wow!
Yep. I think this will have all the action that we have been begging for. Once the ''Metropolis'' scenes start up, I expect even bigger and better scenes of destruction.
Is it ok if I ask this here?
I always wondered what Superman's internal anatomy was like. What does a kyrptonian look like on the inside? Have the comics ever covered that?
Since he looks human on the outside, I think the common assumption is that he looks human on the inside too.
On the other hand... something like "super breath" simply can't work unless there's some pretty unique architecture within Supes' lungs.![]()
I dunno, man. I think the final showdown takes place in Smallville and maybe Metropolis is just where they first encounter. They'll probably butt heads there, but I think the main-battle goes down in Smallville.
Isn't super breath just that the air comes out of his lungs and mouth with much more force than a human's? I never understood the physics of that his breath forms ice. If it is breath from a body being expelled, shouldn't it be luke warm? Unless he has a body temperature of about -15 degrees. The heat vision, I could live with that because it appears to be a flame or something. Flame can be shot out of flame thrower easily, but I have never seen anything that blows out air cold enough to freeze something in the atmosphere without having something to keep the air itself cold. If it comes from a warm body, how can the air be so cold?
Not at all. The neat thing about discussing the fake science of superheroes... is that it encourages you to know about real science. That's not a bad thing.I am looking too much into this I think.
Theres something called the Joule-Thompson Effect that describes how the temperature a gas changes when its forced through a small aperture.
More generally when you compress air, it heats up - and when you expand it, it cools down. (For example, when you fill a scuba tank, it gets noticeably warmer at least for a time. And if you release the air, it gets almost frigid.) So there is a bit of science behind Supes freeze breath.
The problem is the volume of air it would take to produce a reasonable freeze effect or do enough work to, say, blow out a house fire. When you inhale, the airflow stops when the pressure inside and out is equalized. Thus, the average lung capacity of an adult male is about 6 liters. For a bigger guy, itll be a bit more but it all has to do with body size. Being strong or even super strong doesnt affect the physics of air volume and pressure.
Supes would need the equivalent of a gas compressor and gas storage chambers in his lungs to do his super breath routine. Which means his internal anatomy would be different.

I agree.
I was browsing around trying to get info on the main special effects house hired for Man Of Steel and it looks to be good news.
It looks to be Double Negative per IMDB.

That would be pretty cool!
