Not every theater does midnight screenings...theater discretion
Well yeah, but the majority of the major chains are going to run the midnight showings. Unless you live in a small rural town. Then you probably won't get a midnight showing. Good rule of thumb is to always call your local theater to find out for sure.

Considering 'Gone with the Wind' is almost 4 hours long, I would say yeah, that's a bit on the long side.

Yeah, at this point it is getting ridiculous. Have you seen it? Every second it used. Every last frame and not for one moment does it drag. Not one. If anything, the pace is rushed slightly. The early stages of Scarlett and Rhett's marriage is montage'd.

Getting a bit cultist here.

I was so disappointed when I didn't get a Man of Steel trailer before Iron Man 3. Still haven't seen one on the big screen. Next hope is before Star Trek.

True...and I think some of our overseas friends said they aren't getting midnight screenings

Took me forever to finally see it. I think it might have been in front of Oz.

I finally saw the December trailer in front of Jack, a couple of weeks ago. I was really hoping to see the latest Man of Steel trailer with Iron Man 3 the other day and for a moment, I thought I would because they showed the latest trailers for Hangover 3 and The Great Gatsby. They showed the teaser instead .

Based on the junior novel, I love how everything in the flashbacks to Clark's childhood seems to have a period appearance, included the kids' clothing and Pete's glasses. Granted, it seems that even present day Smallville will look like it is stuck in the past to an extent and that is extremely fitting.

I have to admit that one of the things that bugged me (in a very small nerdy, pet peeve sort of way) about Batman Begins is how no efforts were taken to make anything about the flashbacks to Bruce's childhood look like they happened 20 years earlier. Thomas Wayne has an extremely modern hairstyle (should have had a Yuppie mullet :cwink:), the Gotham skyline has some very modern buildings, and people are driving late 90s/early 2000s cars. Also, Alfred hasn't aged a day, but ages rather considerably in the "decade" that follows.

Guess it was just on my mind watching the latest Movie Moan and remembering how much effort was put into that aspect of Superman: The Movie. I'm glad to see that Man of Steel has similar attention to such little details (not that they will make a huge difference in the quality of the film, but they help establish atmosphere and passage of time).

Wait, you saw last summer's Jor-El/Pa Kent teaser in front of Iron Man 3? How lame is that?!

Are you talking about Pete? Because he wasn't created for Smallville.

No, I'm talking about Whitney Fordman. If there is one character from those created specifically for the show that I wouldn't want to see ever again, it's Whitney... :funny:

Extremely. I so wanted to hear the reactions to the latest trailer from the Iron Man 3 crowd.

Yeah, Whitney was annoying. I doubt it's anything more than a nod to Smallville.

I know it's a drawing, but do you think we'll see THIS pose in the movie? I keep noticing how much much artwork and stills look like mirror images from comic books.

Synder said one of his two favourite Superman artists was Jim Lee, so I hope so. In fact there are a bunch of Jim Lee Superman drawings I hope we see referenced. The one with the hundreds of bullets flying towards him for one.

^ I read that the other one is Curt Swan, who pretty much nails the "classic" Superman look for me. Snyder on the Superman stamp: "It’s him tearing open his jacket. Its got a retro vibe to it, it’s cool. That’s the background on my iPad."

So I guess that all but confirms the shirt rip. :)

PS. I'm glad he cast Cavill. I don't think Joe would have been "tender" enough.

Which by itself is very cool and I like it, but I just wish they chose something or someone else rather than Whitney.

God, it's been more than a decade and it STILL feels wrong calling a guy Whitney... :funny:

That's a good still, however, I think the whole storybook is on the setpics and photo thread.

To be honest, I've never been a Jim Lee fan. To me, his art, while technically extremely proficient, is over produced and sterile looking. It lacks heart and emotion. In particular, I've never really been a fan of his angry god, "red eyed" Superman. He makes him look like an inhuman, raging berserker and inhuman is something to me the character should never be. Clark's anger or temper should be if anything one of his very human flaws. The result of having to apply his moral compass to an imperfect, often inhumane world. The anger should look like it comes from a place of sadness and frustration. He shouldn't look like a inhuman, psychotic badass like Batman (with the ever angry, white eyes and all) and the red eye effect, especially with Lee's dark colours and uber macho action shots often gives off the wrong effect in my opinion. Just look at the red eye shot of Zod from Empire. We all praised it for how intense, unhiiged, and quasi-demonic it makes Zod look.
